Build the Wall

See “Trump: Mexico tariffs ‘will take effect,’ ‘foolish’ for GOP to block”:

President Trump said Tuesday he expects his tariff threat against Mexico to “take effect” next week while adding it would be “foolish” for Republican lawmakers to try to block his move.

“I don’t think they’ll do that,” the president said of Republicans in Congress potentially voting to stop the tariffs. “I think if they do, it’s foolish. There is nothing more important than borders.”

President Trump is Doing the Right Thing

The Mexican government opened its southern border and allowed tens of thousands of Central Americans to enter their country and march across Mexico (about 1200 miles) to enter the United States illegally.

Mexico has strict immigration restrictions. Those restrictions were lifted completely thus allowing that to happen.

That’s an act of war.

President Trump is teaching the Mexican government a lesson. It’s a lesson that they desperately need to experience.

About Congress

The crisis on our southern border was caused by Congress’ failure to act. Congress could solve this problem, but members of Congress would rather criticize President Trump for doing something while they do nothing.

I wish I could say that Democrats are responsible, but that’s only partially true. During President Trump’s first 2 years in office, Republicans controlled the House and the Senate. They did nothing to deal with the crisis on our southern border.

Democrats and Republicans in the House and the Senate are the problem, but Mexico needs an attitude adjustment.

About the Argument that Tariffs on Mexican Goods Hurt the U.S.

It’s true that tariffs on imports from Mexico will increase the prices of goods in the U.S. that contain parts from Mexico, but anything worth doing has a price. Doing nothing while we are being abused is the worst thing we can do.

About Democrat Duplicity

Democrats say that they don’t want to see people in cages again. Barack Obama built and used those cages. They didn’t say anything then.

People are in those cages because they broke the law.

Democrats say that it’s immoral to separate children from families, but about a third of those children are not with their parents. They are being used.

Also, when parents break the law and are incarcerated, they are separated from their children.  That’s the way it is and that’s the way it always has been.

About Conflating Immigration and Trade

When you control the levers of power, you pull the levers that work.

Imposing tariffs on a country that is engaging in an act of war against us is a mild response.  Doing nothing would be incompetent.  That’s what Obama did.

Build the Wall

Walls work. Make it an impregnable barrier.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
