President Trump is Winning and the Folks at WaPo and NYT Can’t Believe it or Prevent It

For more than ¼ of a century, the Washington Post was my daily newspaper.  It has always been part of the establishment media, and it has always leaned left politically.  Even so, reading it every day, I came to realize that WaPo covered the news, especially the goings-on in Washington, and did it well.

WaPo and the New York Times always have been competitive with each other.  NYT writers, editors, and publishers believe they are the epitome of journalism in the U.S.  WaPo writers, editors, and publishers are like red-headed stepchildren seeking recognition and respect.  They have something to prove.

I like WaPo better than NYT.  Since the folks at WaPo have something to prove, they tend to go the extra mile, but the folks at NYT present their thoughts as facts without proof.  The folks at NYT believe that if they think it, it is so.  To me, their arrogance is mindboggling.

Tom Friedman and Paul Krugman of the NYT are living, breathing examples of my point.  They are two of the most arrogant people on the planet.  Both of them are intelligent, but neither of them is half as smart as he thinks he is.  Watching them being interviewed provides proof that they have no doubts about anything.  In their minds, the line between their opinions and facts doesn’t exist.

Truly gifted intellects, people like Albert Einstein for instance, don’t suffer from that delusion.  Even when they think they know something, they are open to the possibility that they don’t know everything.  It’s a touch of humility that the folks at NYT don’t possess.  Things have changed.  Today, the folks at WaPo are just as bad as the folks at NYT.

Last year after the presidential election, I was surprised when WaPo and NYT announced that they were beefing up their White House contingents of reporters to engage in what can best be described as seek and destroy commando missions.  Think about it.  The two leading papers in the country publicly announced that they were setting out to destroy a president before he took office, and they weren’t shy about it.  In fact, they were proud of it. They saw it as their reason for being, and for the past year, they have tried to do exactly what they set out to do.

That’s the antithesis of good journalism.  They have made up “facts” and tried to make us believe that their opinions are facts.  They have allowed nothing to interfere with their mission.  When data doesn’t support their stories, they press on anyway with no intention of letting facts guide them to better conclusions.  Slowly but surely, day-by-day, ordinary Americans are seeing what they are doing, and they don’t like it.

Real intellects would never attempt to sell their opinions as facts because it never works out well.  The facts underlying the universe are not driven by individual opinions.  That’s why people like Albert Einstein focused their attention on discovering the facts.  If they didn’t, in a matter of time they would have been shown to be crackpots.  The folks at NYT and WaPo live in an alternate universe where they determine the facts, and they are proving to the world that they are crazy.

Today’s headlines in WaPo are evidence of what I’m talking about:

  • Trump veers past guardrails, feeling impervious to the uproar he causes: The “guardrails” to which they refer are figments of their imaginations. They were put in place by establishment politicians without regard for facts.  When they proved to be misplaced, they were protected rather than moved.  That’s why our most pressing problems have not been solved.  There are many examples of this, but I’ll provide just one: national debt.  Logic and common sense tell us that deficit spending can’t go on forever, but the “guardrails” in Washington reject that basic truth.  President Trump is going against the grain by asserting that a growing economy can alter the trajectory of debt if Congress can refrain from making more spending commitments on giveaway programs once the new tax revenue comes pouring in.  Establishment politicians don’t get it.  In their world, they are supposed to spend every penny of tax revenue and write laws that require us to keep supporting programs at higher levels in the future no matter what.  That’s the exact opposite of logic and common sense. The guardrails have to be torn down.  That’s what President Trump is doing.
  • Three reasons Republican senators will end up without real tax reform: The folks at WaPo have decided that nothing can be allowed to change the status quo. They are positive that Republicans can’t be persuaded to do the right thing.  Even if they destroy their political careers by holding onto vestiges of the past, WaPo believes that Republicans would rather go down with a sinking ship than save their seats in Congress.  That logic runs counter to political instincts.  In the short-term, a few of them will go down, but in the long-term, the rules that govern political behavior will prevail.  They always do.  One-by-one, establishment Republicans are dropping out because they are being rejected by voters.  That’s proof that real change is underway.  We may not get the change we are looking for before the 2018 congressional elections, but we are heading in the right direction.  The folks at WaPo can’t see past the ends of their noses.

CNN is trying to do the same thing.  Great journalistic minds aren’t attracted to cable news networks for a good reason.  Cable news networks, all of them, are more entertainment than news.  They are not all show and no substance, but they are pretty close.  The folks at CNN believe that they can set the national agenda, and my how they try, but they are failing just like the folks at WaPo and NYT.

Below is an example of CNN attempting to write history before the fact:

  • Trump’s Twitter attack strains the UK-US relationship: That’s not so. It’s fake news.  It’s wishful thinking.  The facts suggest that President Trump’s influence is massive all over the world.  It’s the exact opposite of what CNN wants us to believe.  The UK is turning in the direction of the Trump agenda.  The up-and-comers in the UK politically see President Trump as a hero.  That has establishment politicians in the UK scrambling for political cover.  How do I know?  I read.

There are many more examples, but I’ll leave it at that.  The data shows that despite the ill-wishes of the folks at NYT and WaPo and to a lesser extent CNN, President Trump is having a profound effect on politics as usual in Washington, and slowly but surely, he’s winning on every front.  While the establishment media is doing its utmost to stop him, ordinary Americans are coming around to the president’s way of thinking, a better way of thinking.  Establishment politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, will continue to drop like flies unless they embrace Trump’s agenda.  He’s smarter than they are, and he’s deploying weapons they don’t understand: logic and common sense.

The establishment media refuses to give President Trump any credit.  It doesn’t matter.  He doesn’t need their support to win.  By now, that should be obvious.

I used the word “obvious” with some hesitation.  It’s been more than a year since the election, and Hillary Clinton still can’t accept her defeat.  It should be obvious that she was rejected, but she can’t accept that fact.

I expect the establishment media to cling to their delusions, too, but the day is coming when they will have no choice except to bow to reality.  In the long-run, their survival depends on it.

The establishment media can’t survive without ad revenue.  That means they are dependent on the masses for survival.  The masses are moving in President Trump’s direction.  In other words, with each passing day, the establishment media is more out-of-step with the people they depend on.  That can’t go on forever.

The same is true for establishment politicians from both parties.  They depend on support from the masses, too, and they won’t get enough support to win unless they change their tune.

Fake News: Things are Beginning to Change

See “ABC News suspends Brian Ross for 4 weeks over erroneous Flynn story”:

ABC News announced Saturday that it has suspended investigative reporter Brian Ross for four weeks without pay after Ross was forced to correct a bombshell on-air report about Michael Flynn.

“We deeply regret and apologize for the serious error we made yesterday. The reporting conveyed by Brian Ross during the special report had not been fully vetted through our editorial standards process,” ABC said in a statement. “As a result of our continued reporting over the next several hours ultimately we determined the information was wrong and we corrected the mistake on air and online.”

“It is vital we get the story right and retain the trust we have built with our audience — these are our core principles,” the statement added. “We fell far short of that yesterday.”

Citing a single anonymous source, Ross told viewers during an ABC special report on Friday morning that Flynn was prepared to testify that Donald Trump, as a candidate for president, told him to contact Russians.

Thanks to Brian Ross’ fake news, on Friday the DOW slipped by more than 300 points in a matter of minutes.  Hundreds of billions of dollars changed hands almost instantly because of his shoddy work at ABC.  I think people who lost money have a case against ABC.

President Trump is Winning

President Trump isn’t perfect, but he’s better than the competition by a wide margin.  If establishment media types and establishment politicians were serious, they would act like professionals and at least try to tell the truth.

The way things are today, that’s a tall order.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
