The Guardian—How Erdoğan’s ruthless drive for more power is shaking a divided Europe:

The ruthless drive by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s pugnacious president, to expand his already considerable executive powers knows no bounds. Even cows are not safe. At the height of last week’s furious row with the Netherlands, Turkey’s red-meat producers’ association said it was expelling 40 Holstein Friesian cattle. Dutch cows, like Dutch diplomats, were no longer welcome in Turkey.

If the political backdrop were not so deadly serious, the bovine ban might be funny. But Erdoğan’s rude push to take partisan campaigning in Turkey’s fraught 16 April referendum on expanded presidential powers to the doorsteps of western Europe’s four-million-strong Turkish diaspora is no laughing matter. It has sparked an all-out crisis in Turkey-Europe relations that had been threatening to erupt for years.

When the Dutch banned unsanctioned ministerial rallies and cracked down on Turkish demonstrators, Erdoğan denounced them as modern-day Nazis. When Germany, where 1.4 million ethnic Turks have a vote in Erdoğan’s referendum, took a similar stance, he accused Angela Merkel, Germany’s chancellor, of Islamophobia and harbouring terrorists. Denmark, Austria and Switzerland, which also have sizeable Turkish minorities, have all been caught up in the furore.

I don’t enjoy beating a dead horse, but in this instance, I will do it anyway.

Turkish President Erdoğan is a thoroughly dangerous man.  More than anyone else alive today, he reminds me of Adolf Hitler.  I have watched him closely for more than a decade, and it looks to me as though Erdoğan has made Hitler’s playbook his own.  It’s uncanny.

Despite the readily apparent danger, the world hasn’t taken Erdoğan seriously enough.  Russia in particular has embraced him even though he ordered his military to shoot down a Russian fighter jet.  Russia is a serious problem, too.

I don’t expect the world to wake up to reality until it’s too late.  I’m concerned about believers who should know better.  Regrettably, most of them are ignorant, and that’s being kind.  I doubt that half of them could locate Turkey on a map and fewer than that know who Erdoğan is.  It’s a sad state of affairs.

The New York Times appears to be catching on, but it’s just an illusion.  See “‘You Are the Future of Europe,’ Erdogan Tells Turks”.

You can’t say in one breath that people who are concerned about the rapid rise of Islamism are Islamophobes and in the next breath say that the leading Islamist head of state is a growing problem for Europe and the Western world without looking like a fool.

That’s what the New York Times has done.  It’s schizophrenic at best and probably evil.

For the latest development, see “Snitching scandal: Denmark reprimands Turkish envoy over ‘hotline to report on Erdogan critics’”:

Denmark has summoned Turkey’s charge d’affaires on the heels of a report that Danish citizens of Turkish origin might have been blacklisted and accused of treason on the basis of tips submitted by Turkish government sympathizers via a special hotline.

The Danish Foreign Ministry “made it clear that it saw with great concern reports alleging that citizens of Denmark report on the other citizens to the Turkish authorities in this manner because of a person’s political affiliation,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday, following a meeting between the Turkish charge d’affaires and the Danish ministry’s foreign policy director, Lone Dencker Wisborg.

It further pointed out that any request coming from Turkish authorities to Danish citizens to unveil the identities of fellow Danes would be deemed “unacceptable,” noting that an act of informing foreign governments, including that of Turkey, will be considered a criminal offense.

As I said, with each passing day Erdoğan looks more and more like Adolf Hitler.  Something very big is developing.  I think a blazing inferno is on the way.

Erdoğan must believe that the time is right for him to go on the offense.  I have serious doubts about the readiness of European leaders.  They have been asleep at the switch for decades and nothing they are doing now suggests to me that they are prepared for the coming conflagration.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described Europe as “fascist and cruel” and said it resembles the pre-World War Two era amid a row over the banning of several Turkish rallies.

Mr Erdogan said Turkey may review its ties with Europe after an April referendum he hopes will give him sweeping new powers.

Turkey is mired in a diplomatic crisis with Europe after Germany and the Netherlands banned several rallies intended to bolster support for the referendum, leading Mr Erdogan to brand the Netherlands “Nazi remnants” and accuse Germany of “fascist actions”.

Mr Erdogan said Turkey will no longer be threatened by the European Union membership process and added that, from now on, it will not allow any Europeans on Turkish soil to carry out “spying” under various pretexts.

In plain English, Erdoğan is telling European leaders that ordinary European citizens visiting Turkey will be subject to arrest and being charged as spies because European leaders won’t bow to his wishes.  Heil Erdoğan!

My job is to tell people what I know.  I’ve done that.  Some will get it.  Others won’t.

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7: 14)

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.
