At the U.N., the U.S. Poked Yahweh in the Eye

Steve Apfel wrote an article for Arutz Sheva that I really like.  The title is “The lie that broke Israel’s back”.  This is how Steve begins:

‘Twas the period of good tidings when a ghoul came back to haunt and hurt Israel. If a phantom can haunt an opera house then the UN chambers of ill repute are the haunts of a phantom that blows sulphur and flame. It was therefore no shock when it spooked the chamber where diplomats are perpetually at daggers drawn.

In the unsanctified chamber of the UN Security Council the mischief-monger played a skit on the very eve of Christmas. The ghoul enticed or enchanted, bewitched or brainwashed members of the Council to kill their own two babies: The Peace Process and The Two State Solution. The Palestinians were handed all they want without their having to lift a finger. Instead of negotiating a deal with Israel, thanks to the UN Security Council they can now entrust their case to anti-Zionist lawyers and academics working hand in glove with the crooked United Nations.

For Act 2 even stalwart friends that once had Israel’s back ganged up to stab it in the back. For the finale the Council passed Resolution 2334 condemning the Chosen People to dwell alone and not be reckoned among the nations. Between the lines it warned Israel to prepare for a flurry of international law suits and boycotts.

The Council, declaimed President Obama’s dummy mouth, John Kerry, “does not seek to impose a solution to the conflict.” That was diplomatic speak; what Kerry meant was what he denied. He meant that the Council had imposed land-giveaways on Israel while it enticed the Palestinians to demand the giveaways, plus… And they weren’t even obliged to accept the Jewish state.

For Israel, Resolution 2334 meant a threat of historic proportions. For international law it meant relegation to a fun league. For the ruling clique that want the UN to conjure up a State of Palestine it meant second prize. For nine-tenths of member countries it meant one step closer to rescinding the right of Israel to exist. For America and Europe it meant a new arm-twisting lever to get Israel to do their bidding. For all players it meant a whole new ballgame.

The Security Council was not able to conjure up a State of Palestine, but it did conjure up “settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.” No one blinked. It then drew law out of a black hat, declaring that “the settlements have no legal validity and constitute a flagrant violation under international law.” Again no one blinked.

I agree with almost everything Steve said.  U.N. Security Council Resolution 2334 did a lot of damage to Israel, but it didn’t break Israel’s back.  Israel’s back can’t be and won’t be broken.

Even so, it’s true that President Obama’s betrayal of Israel in the U.N. put the tiny Jewish state in a world of hurt.  Yahweh is Israel’s Protector, so she will make it through this crisis but with much suffering.

The day is coming when Israel finally will accept the fact that there is no country on Earth that she can lean on for support.  Even the United States, and supportive as we can be and have been in the past, will hand over Israel to her enemies.  That’s what Obama did in the U.N.

Israel will make it through this because Yahweh said she will, but to survive, Israeli political and religious leaders must entreat Yahweh for help.  He is Israel’s only hope.  This is the kicker: they must know who they are praying to for help.

That’s a problem.  Since the day in 135 A.D. when Rabbi Akiva declared that Jewish people who accept the Messiah aren’t Jewish, Jewish people have been taught to loath their Savior, to mock and ridicule Him.  They have been taught to believe that His Jewish followers aren’t even Jewish and that for all practical purposes they are dead.  Since the Messiah is Yahweh (Jeremiah 23: 5-6), that is blasphemy in its worst form.

That’s not blasphemy as the rabbis have defined it, but it is blasphemy as Yahweh sees it.  In the mid-second century B.C., Jewish religious leaders decided that blasphemy was simply saying Yahweh’s Name even though Yahweh commanded us to declare His Name to the world.

Talk about perverting Yahweh’s word.  I defy anyone to find a better example of doctoring the Torah to make it comply with the opinions of men.  Yahweh won’t allow anyone to rewrite His word for any reason.  Logic and common sense should tell us that.

Be that as it may, because of Rabbi Akiva’s prominence and their willingness to accept the validity of Oral Traditions that betray Yahweh’s explicit commands, most Jewish people took the bait and rejected the Messiah and His Jewish followers.  Almost 2,000 years later, we are on the verge of witnessing an historic event: the day when Jewish people, or at least Jewish people in Israel, come to their senses.

The Messiah explained it perfectly:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of Yahweh!’” (Matthew 23: 37-39)

I guess you could say that it had to be this way, but woe to the man who made it happen.  Again quoting the Messiah,

“The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” (Matthew 26: 24)

Betraying Israel is betraying Yahweh.  That’s not my opinion. Yahweh said it:

“Ho there! Flee from the land of the north,” declares Yahweh, “for I have dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens,” declares Yahweh. “Ho, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon.” For thus says Yahweh Sabaoth, “After glory He has sent Me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye. For behold, I will wave My hand over them so that they will be plunder for their slaves. Then you will know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent Me. Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” declares Yahweh. “Many nations will join themselves to Yahweh in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent Me to you. Yahweh will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.” (Zechariah 2: 6-12)

The Hebrew word that’s translated as “apple” should have been translated as “pupil”.  Israel is the pupil of Yahweh’s eye.  Poking Yahweh in the eye or even attempting to do it is an idiotic move.

People who think they can attack Israel or refuse to support her need to think about the consequences.  Israel (both the people and the land) is a litmus test.  In the truest sense, our attitude toward Israel (both the people and the land) reveals what kind of faith we have.

Yahweh is using Israel to separate the wheat from the chaff.  People with saving faith won’t betray Yahweh and they won’t betray Israel (either the people or the land).

What does that tell us about Barack Obama and John Kerry and those who supported them?

If it sounds like I am exaggerating for effect, let me assure you that I am not.  I’m as serious as a heart attack.

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7: 14)

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
