“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. (Zechariah 4: 6)

A Lesson for Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli People

Following King Solomon’s death, Israel and Judah became two separate kingdoms.  That was in the 900s B.C.

Sporadically, they fought each other until the Assyrians captured Israel and took them into captivity.  That was in the 700s B.C.  To this day, Israel remains scattered throughout the world.

In the 800s B.C., there was war between Baasha King of Israel and Asa King of Judah, and Asa turned to Ben-hadad King of Aram from Damascus for help.  This is the message that Yahweh sent to Asa by way of Hanani the seer/prophet:

“Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on Yahweh your Elohim, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.  Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on Yahweh, He delivered them into your hand.  For the eyes of Yahweh move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars.” (2 Chronicles 16: 7-9)

For 20 years, I have been telling my friends in Israel that they should not rely on the U.S. for support.  Our political system produces good presidents and bad presidents.  Some of them are strong supporters of Israel.  Others are not.  None of them trust Yahweh fully.  The Two-State Solution is proof of that fact.

The Two-State Solution was the brainchild of President George H.W. Bush.  It is diametrically opposed to Yahweh’s promises.

President Bill Clinton pushed the Two-State Solution the entire 8 years of his administration.  During Clinton’s term, terrorist attacks on Israel grew in number and severity.

President George W. Bush followed Clinton.  He supported Israel, but he pushed for the Two-State Solution as well.  Israel fared better under Bush than Clinton, but Bush pushed Prime Minister Sharon to unilaterally withdraw from Gaza.  That was a huge mistake as the Israeli people now know.

President Obama has been a nightmare for Israel.  The Iran nuclear deal that he pushed has put the Israeli people at risk.  Obama’s animosity toward Israel is becoming the stuff of legend.  His latest betrayal of Israel in the U.N. a few days ago has caused a stir in Israel, and the Israeli people are looking forward to the day when President Trump takes office.

While Trump will be a better President of the United States than Obama was, he is not perfect.  Trump said that negotiating peace between Israel and Palestinians will be the “ultimate deal”.  The only framework for discussion on the table is the Two-State Solution.  Any deal based on that framework will fail because it contradicts Yahweh’s promises.

Prime Minister Netanyahu needs to explain why the Two-State Solution won’t work and convince President Trump that pushing it will hurt Israel and the U.S.

Even more important, Prime Minister Netanyahu needs to convince the Israeli people that Yahweh is their only hope.  They must turn to Him for support, not President Trump and the United States.  I love the way Yahweh explained it:

“For the eyes of Yahweh move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

Nothing has changed since King Asa’s day.  Yahweh remains Israel’s only hope.  He set it up that way for a reason, and nothing can change it.

One final point: Israel is not a Jewish state.  It belongs to Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob/Israel.  It belongs to Judah and all the other descendants of Jacob.  Prime Minister Netanyahu needs to explain that fact to the Israeli people, and he needs to take steps to bring Israeli policies into alignment with Yahweh’s promises.  Anything less will not work.

“If My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7: 14)

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
