Chicago Tribune—Kerry defends U.N. vote on Israel, says decision was ‘in accordance with’ U.S. values:
Stepping into a raging diplomatic argument, Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday staunchly defended the Obama administration’s decision to allow the U.N. Security Council to declare Israeli settlements illegal and warned that Israel’s very future as a democracy is at stake.
Kerry, pushing back on Israel’s fury at the U.S. abstention of the United Nations vote, questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s true commitment to Palestinian statehood, which has formed the basis for all serious peace talks for years. Though Netanyahu says he believes in the two-state solution, Kerry said, under his leadership Israel’s government is “the most right-wing in Israel’s history.”
“If the choice is one state, Israel can either be Jewish or democratic, it cannot be both, and it won’t ever really be at peace,” Kerry said in a farewell speech, a comprehensive airing of grievances that have built up in the Obama administration over eight years but were rarely, until this month, discussed publicly.
Kerry’s speech marked the latest escalation in the vicious, drama-filled row between the U.S. and Israel that has erupted in the last days of Obama’s administration. The extraordinary display of discord between allies — with U.S. and Israeli officials openly disparaging each other — has also pitted President Barack Obama against President-elect Donald Trump, who has firmly taken Netanyahu’s side.

John Kerry is presenting Democrat beliefs. In their world, U.S. values and Democrat values are one and the same.
Democrats don’t learn very quickly. The 2016 presidential election was just a few weeks ago, and Democrats are scrambling to pin the blame for their breathtaking defeat on somebody. Hillary is their most convenient scapegoat, but the whole Democrat Party is to blame.
Even so, John Kerry thinks the Democrat Party is just fine. Can he be that stupid? That’s possible, or maybe it’s a form of mass delusion plaguing Democrats, especially high-ranking Democrats.
According to a recent Gallup poll, 70% of Americans view Israel favorably, and 62% of us sympathize more with the Israelis than Palestinians. Can anyone in his right mind believe that stabbing Israel in the back as you are about to walk out the door will resonate favorably with the American people?
The same Gallup poll found that 17% of Americans view the Palestinian Authority favorably, and only 16% of us sympathize with the Palestinian cause. Can anyone with a smidgen of common sense say that betraying Israel, our most reliable ally in the world, is an American value and keep a straight face?
Anyone who voted for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or John Kerry or any other Democrat needs to wake up. Democrats are the problem.
For the record, I am not a Republican, never have been and never will be. I used to be a Democrat, though, and I wasn’t a stamp licker.
Yahweh holds us accountable for what we should have known. That is a fact.
