The Promised Land, Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount and Yahweh

Jerusalem is not an ordinary city, and Mount Moriah (a.k.a. the Temple Mount) isn’t an ordinary piece of real estate.  They are special to Yahweh.  He made that perfectly clear:

12 Then Yahweh appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place [Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, a.k.a. the Temple Mount] for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.”  (2 Chronicles 7: 12-16)

As you can see, Yahweh appeared to Solomon in Person.  That means Solomon actually saw Yahweh’s human form.  The fact that Yahweh has a human form is not in dispute.  For more examples of Yahweh appearing in human form to speak with people, see His Name is Yahweh chapter 5.  The title of the chapter is “Yahweh Has a Human Form”.

Most Bible literate believers are familiar with 2 Chronicles 7: 14—“[If] My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

I hear that verse quoted by believers regularly.  Yahweh is the name referred to in 2 Chronicles 7: 14.  That’s a fact.  It’s not conjecture.  Yahweh refers to us as His people because we are called by His name.  Since most Bible literate believers are unfamiliar with the name Yahweh, that’s a problem and it’s a big one.

More than anything else, 2 Chronicles 7: 12-16 is about Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.  About those places Yahweh made this point: “For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.”

Stated another way, for all eternity Jerusalem and the Temple Mount will be special places to Yahweh, holy places, because our Creator’s name is associated with them.  That’s not conjecture, either.  Yahweh said it.  I’m just quoting Him.

Therein lies the problem.  World leaders talk about negotiating peace between Israel and Palestinians as though they have the right or the authority to make deals with Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to help bring about so-called “peace”.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

No one has the right or the authority to negotiate with any part of the Promised Land because Yahweh’s promises are binding for all eternity.  Nothing can change them.  Where Jerusalem and the Temple Mount are concerned, that is especially true.

President-elect Trump has said on several occasions that he sees negotiating peace between Israel and Palestinians as the ultimate deal.  Well, it’s not.  It’s the ultimate Tar Baby.  Every person who has embroiled himself in that brouhaha has gotten stuck and helped to bring about the loss of many innocent lives.

Reality won’t change because Donald Trump is President of the United States.  Yahweh is still the Ultimate Sovereign.  His authority trumps President Trump’s authority by a thousand light-years.

This is my advice to the incoming president: Be very careful.  Before you involve yourself in peace between Israel and Palestinians, make sure you understand your limitations.  Those who have ignored Yahweh’s promises in the past have failed miserably.  Those who ignore Yahweh’s promises in the future will fail miserably, too. The consequence of ignoring Yahweh is horrific.  That’s what the evidence shows.  President Trump, please don’t repeat the errors of the past.

Yahweh, this is my prayer.  Please be with President Trump and protect him as he thinks about what he should do to help bring about peace between Israel and Palestinians.

Change that Yahweh calls “good” begins in the hearts of believers—people who are recognizable because they are different.

We are different because we belong to Him and are called by His Name.  We are Yahweh’s people, His followers.

SnyderTalk Comment:

I have one problem with this video.  Yahweh made His promises to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob/Israel.  Judah is one tribe of Israel, not all 12, and Joseph got a double portion.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
