Obama and Democrats Created the Problems that Donald Trump will have to Solve
I watch CNBC in the mornings. It’s the best business news channel. It’s not perfect by a long shot, but it’s better than the competition.
Since I devoted my professional career to business, I know something about it. I enjoy listening to the guests on CNBC. In particular, I like “Squawk Box” from 6 to 9 each weekday morning. It’s a lot like a college seminar. That’s one thing I miss about being a university professor.
Yesterday morning, Larry Summers was a guest on the show. His background is in economics. The most important post he held was Secretary of the Treasury under Bill Clinton. After leaving government, Summers became President of Harvard University. He stayed in that post until the faculty gave him the boot.
Summers is not a leader. He is a bombastic ideologue. In academia, people are expected to have strong opinions, but their ideas are supposed to be based on facts, not strongly-held beliefs. At great universities, trying to shove your opinions down other people’s throats is a no-no. I suspect that that was Summers’ major failing at Harvard.
Smart people don’t appreciate other smart people who are dismissive and shallow. That’s a good way to describe Larry Summers.
Summers lasted at Harvard for 5 years. In academia, that’s like firing someone before his probationary period ends. As I said, Summers is not a leader.
On “Squawk Box”, with a straight face Summers blamed Donald Trump for the fact that some people feel scared after his election. The KKK endorsement of Trump was Summers’ prima facie evidence that Trump is to blame.
Did it ever occur to Summers that black power radicals, environmental wackos, and degenerate nutjobs went wild in this country between 2008 and 2016? Did he blame Obama for that? No, but he should have.
Obama did nothing to stop them. In fact, he poured fuel on the fire. I called Obama the inciter-in-chief. The Michael Brown case in Ferguson, Missouri should become the textbook example of how not to be president. Before the evidence was gathered Obama, for all practical purposes, blamed the police officer and set the stage for cop killers across the nation to go on a shooting spree.
To this day, Obama and his sycophants refuse to admit that he unleashed forces in this country that will be difficult to contain.
Trump didn’t seek the KKK endorsement and he didn’t accept it. He said so publicly. Even so, right-wing wackos in this country who felt threatened by Obama and his hooligan followers were looking for someone who would stem the tide. They saw Trump as that man.
That’s history. Let’s look forward.
The forces on the left side of the political spectrum had their heyday during Obama’s 8 years in office. They could do just about anything they wanted to do with impunity. If someone dared to defend himself, he was branded as the guilty party.
What is the normal human reaction to that kind of lunacy?
It’s normal for people to take matters into their own hands when they believe they are not getting the protection they deserve from those in power. Call it a backlash or whatever you want, but this much is certain: once those radical forces are unleashed on either side of the political spectrum, it’s hard to rein them in.
Wackos on the left and right are energized and ready to go. Why? I can give you the answer in one word: Obama.
Don’t blame Donald Trump. He didn’t set those forces in motion. Obama did.
Will those forces affect Trump’s presidency? Of course, they will. He’ll have to take to the bully pulpit on many occasions to reverse the course set by Obama. Will he do his job? The answer is YES.
Keep in mind that Obama and both Clintons want the Democrat Party to return to power. In their perverse world, they think it’s good for the country if Trump is made to look defensive and if he is made to appear as the person responsible for wacko attacks.
Again, Trump is not responsible, but that won’t stop them from trying to make him out to be the guilty party. That’s what they do, and it’s the kind of people they are.
As I have said for a long time, get ready for a rough ride. It won’t be easy. Law and order really does have to be a cornerstone of the Trump administration. It has to be fair and it has to be seen as fair my most people.
That’s why Hillary Clinton and others like her must be brought to justice. If they aren’t, it won’t be fair to those of us who would be sent to prison if we did what they did.
Obama left chaos in his wake domestically and globally. Trump has a tough job in front on him.
Law and order begins at the top. If ordinary people don’t believe that people at the top are abiding by the same laws they are forced to obey, many of them will ignore the law, too.
