It’s Time to Drain the Swamp
Below is an excerpt from an article by David Graham titled “From Whitewater to Benghazi: A Clinton-Scandal Primer”. It appeared in The Atlantic—a highly-regarded, typically left-leaning magazine for the intellectual elite:

With Hillary Clinton the Democratic nominee for president, every Clinton scandal—from Whitewater to the State Department emails—will be under the microscope. (No other American politicians—even ones as corrupt as Richard Nixon, or as hated by partisans as George W. Bush—have fostered the creation of a permanent multimillion-dollar cottage industry devoted to attacking them.) Keeping track of each controversy, where it came from, and how serious it is, is no small task, so here’s a primer. We’ll update it as new information emerges.
The Clintons’ Private Email Server
What? During the course of the Benghazi investigation, New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt learned Clinton had used a personal email account while secretary of state. It turned out she had also been using a private server, located at a house in New York. The result was that Clinton and her staff decided which emails to turn over to the State Department as public records and which to withhold; they say they then destroyed the ones they had designated as personal.
When? 2009-2013, during Clinton’s term as secretary.

How serious is it? Very serious. A May report from the State Department inspector general is harshly critical of Clinton’s email approach, but Loretta Lynch announced on July 6 that the Justice Department would not pursue criminal charges, removing the threat of an indictment that could be fatal to her campaign. On October 28, the FBI announced is it reviewing a new tranche of emails that turned up in an unrelated investigation, but it did not offer any other details on the scope. In any case, the scandal will remain a millstone around her neck forever. Comey’s damning comments about her conduct—“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information”—will reverberate throughout the campaign. Also unresolved is the question of whether Clinton’s server was hacked. You can read the FBI report here.
Clinton’s State Department Emails
What? Setting aside the question of the Clintons’ private email server, what’s actually in the emails that Clinton did turn over to State? While some of the emails related to Benghazi have been released, there are plenty of others covered by public-records laws that are still in the process of being vetted for release.
When? 2009-2013
How serious is it? Serious. While the contents of emails revealed so far has been more eyerolly than scandalous, the bigger problem is the revelation that dozens of email chains contained information that was classified at some level. Meanwhile, some emails remain to be seen. The State Department, under court order, is slowly releasing the emails she turned over, but there are other emails that she didn’t turn over, which have surfaced through court battles.

A few days ago, FBI Director Comey “stuck with” his July assessment of Hillary’s email activity, namely that she will not be charged with criminal activity. That does not change the underlying reality. It simply means that criminal charges will not be brought against Hillary by Obama’s “Justice” Department.
The FBI is an investigative unit. The Justice Department determines whether or not to file charges. Thus, Obama successfully shielded Hillary from criminal prosecution for the time being, but the statute of limitations on her crimes will not be reached for a long time. In the future, she can and probably will face charges. That’s a subtle but important point.
Be that as it may, unlike most left-leaning publications, eventually The Atlantic will abandon “liberal progressive” orthodoxy and accept facts if evidence leads in that direction. For example, in the mid-1990s while most “liberal progressives” were pushing the idea that homosexuals are born that way, The Atlantic published an article written by a homosexual that said no scientific evidence points to the conclusion that people are born as homosexuals.
That means homosexuality is a choice. As I said, The Atlantic isn’t afraid to go against the “liberal progressive” grain. That’s why a largely pro-Hillary article in The Atlantic doesn’t shy away from the reality that Hillary Clinton is in serious trouble.

Hillary Clinton is who she is, and she is a scoundrel. She has no morals, no conscience, and no sense of shame. Hillary is like her husband in those regards.
Electing Hillary Clinton is inviting huge problems. That’s what her record proves beyond any doubt.
Corruption in Washington isn’t limited to the Clintons, though. Barack Obama has problems of his own. A thorough investigation will find them without any difficulty.
Obama’s “Justice Department” is a good place to start. His Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch are personifications of political corruption. A careful investigation will reveal their wrongdoing, but I believe they were merely carrying out orders and that the president was a co-conspirator. Even if Obama didn’t give the orders, he turned a blind eye to their corruption.
Corruption isn’t limited to the Democrat Party. The House and Senate are loaded with Republicans and Democrats who have figured out how to get rich at taxpayers’ expense. All of them have been insulated from scrutiny. That’s got to stop.
Donald Trump promised that he will “drain the swamp”. That’s exactly what needs to happen and that’s a great reason to elect him president.
Trump isn’t beholden to either political party. As a non-political outsider, he can be objective and fair. I think he will be.
