There is a point of no return.  Have we reached it?

The presidential election isn’t far off.  Like many of you, I will vote for Donald Trump.  I think/hope he will win in a landslide no matter what the mainstream media wants us to believe.

It’s not that I’m thrilled about the thought of Donald Trump as President of the United States.  Let’s face it.  He’s no knight in shining armor, but he is light-years ahead of Hillary Clinton.

I used to be a Democrat, and I wasn’t your run-of-the-mill operative.  My involvement in the party wasn’t licking stamps and envelopes, making phone calls, and talking the party talk.

My role was working with leaders in business and government to achieve the Governor of Virginia’s objectives.  I was Governor Chuck Robb’s Policy Advisor for Regulatory Reform.  In that capacity, every state agency reported to me on regulatory matters.  That’s a big deal because all state agencies regulate.  There was one exception.  The State Corporation Commission did not report to me.  It reported to the legislative branch.

Gerald Baliles followed Robb as Governor of Virginia.  I chaired a Governor’s Conference on Small Business for him and was offered a position in his administration, but I turned it down.  By that time, I had learned all that I needed to know about the Democrat Party.

My active involvement in the Democrat Party occurred during the Reagan Revolution—from 1980 to 1986.  Leading Democrats at that time from Bill Clinton to Chuck Robb were doing everything in their power to distance themselves from Democrats of the past in the minds of voters.  They worked tirelessly to change the party’s image.

That’s why regulatory reform and small business were so important to Robb and Baliles.  They wanted to be seen as leaders during the Reagan era, so they had to come across as legitimate conservatives.  They took those issues seriously, but beneath the surface the Democrat Party never changed.  Party stalwarts saw the Reagan Revolution as a blip on the screen—an unfortunate development that would pass.

Because I was involved in state government at the highest level and because regulatory reform and small business were national issues, I came into contact and worked with top Democrat and Republican Party officials at the state and national levels.  As I said, I wasn’t an operative, and I wasn’t a campaign functionary.

My Republican Party friends knew that I withdrew from active Democrat Party involvement in the mid-1980s.  I never talked with them about it, but they saw it and wanted me to come over to their side.  When George Allen won a seat in Congress and gave up his seat in the Virginia House of Delegates, they recruited me to run for his seat in the House of Delegates.

It was Thomas Jefferson’s seat, and I was a University of Virginia professor.  Since Jefferson founded UVA and the Democrat Party, what could be better, they thought, than a UVA professor and a former Democrat running as a Republican?

During my discussions with the Republican nominating committee, they told me that they wanted me to run for Allen’s seat as a Republican because they wanted to alter the balance on abortion in the Republican Party.  They were fearful that if they held firm to the anti-abortion line, they would lose votes and elections.  They thought that I could help them move the needle.

I said, “You don’t want me.”

I’m not telling you these things to toot my own horn.  I’m explaining my role so that you will understand that I got to know the way key players in the Democrat and Republican Parties at the state and national levels think.

At the core, the Democrat Party is what I call the Party of Perversity.  You name the issue and if there is a perverse side to it, that’s the side that Democrats will support.  Abortion is the most obvious example, but there are many others.  For instance, name any sexual deviation, and Democrats will champion the cause.  Immigration is another issue.  Democrats have turned protecting our national borders into an unpatriotic act.  What about Islamic extremism?  Democrats see right-minded Americans as Islamophobes.

Hillary Clinton wasn’t shooting from the hip or running off at the mouth as she is prone to do when she called ordinary Americans “irredeemable deplorables”.  She was expressing the common view of diehard Democrat loyalists.  They think they are superior people in every way.  Hillary was talking to them using language that they understand and agree with in an attempt to rally their support.

I wish I could say that Republicans are totally different, but that’s not true.  There is very little difference between Republicans and Democrats at the state and national levels of government.

That’s why Donald Trump stands out.  He’s not just running against the Democrat Party nominee and the mainstream media—the Democrat Party’s mouthpiece.  He’s running against many top Republicans, because he represents an opportunity for real change.  That’s something that top Republicans and top Democrats don’t want.

Saying that our country is heading in the wrong direction is an understatement.  As the video below shows, polls indicate that ordinary Americans get it, but they can’t put their fingers on the problem.

This is the problem in a nutshell: government officials, both Republicans and Democrats, at the top levels of state and national government have turned their backs on Yahweh.

Polls also indicate that the nation as a whole is becoming less and less interested in Spiritual things.  That means ordinary Americans are lost in a thick fog.  They are very confused and can be swayed easily.  That’s why Hillary Clinton—a person who is corrupt to the core—can attract any following at all.

As a nation, we have been moving away from Yahweh for a very long time.  When I was a boy, no one would have dreamed that saying the Pledge of Allegiance in school or saying a prayer at a high school football game would become controversial issues, but they are.  No one would have imagined that abortion on demand would become the law of the land or that sodomy and things like it would become national causes with strong support from top Republicans and Democrats, but it happened.

The list of examples is long, but I’ll stop there.  This is the bottom line: I fear that most Americans can’t see Yahweh in their rearview mirrors.

That leads me to conclude that as a nation we may have passed the point of no return.  Yahweh will allow us to go just so far before He drops the hammer on us.  I think there is a good probability that we are in for a rude awakening no matter what we do next.

This is a biblical example of what I’m talking about.  Josiah was King of Judah.  His father, Amon, and his grandfather, Manasseh, led Judah astray.  They turned their backs on Yahweh completely.

When Josiah became king, he worked tirelessly to return Judah to Yahweh.  He did everything in his power to undo the damage that Amon and Manasseh had done, but it wasn’t enough.

This is what the Bible tells us about it:

“Moreover, Josiah removed the mediums and the spiritists and the teraphim and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Yahweh.  Before him there was no king like him who turned to Yahweh with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.

However, Yahweh did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him.  Yahweh said, ‘I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this city which I have chosen, and the temple of which I said, “My name shall be there.”’” (2 Kings 23: 24-27)

Yes, my friends, there is a point of no return.  I think we may have reached it.

I am praying for the best, but I am preparing for the worst.  When Yahweh moves against a nation, everybody suffers—believers and unbelievers.  I suggest that you follow my example.

Sukkot: The Festival of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths

Leviticus 23: 33-44:

33 Again Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to Yahweh. 35 On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. 36 For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to Yahweh. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to Yahweh; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work.

37 These are the appointed times of Yahweh which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to Yahweh—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each day’s matter on its own day—38 besides those of the Sabbaths of Yahweh, and besides your gifts and besides all your votive and freewill offerings, which you give to Yahweh.

39 On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of Yahweh for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day. 40 Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim for seven days. 41 You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to Yahweh for seven days in the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, 43 so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your Elohim.’” 44 So Moses declared to the sons of Israel the appointed times of Yahweh.

Zechariah 14: 1-21

1 Behold, a day is coming for Yahweh when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 3 Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. 5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then Yahweh, my Elohim, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

6 In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. 7 For it will be a unique day which is known to Yahweh, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

8 And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

9 And Yahweh will be king over all the earth; in that day Yahweh will be the only one, and His Name the only one.

10 All the land will be changed into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but Jerusalem will rise and remain on its site from Benjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses. 11 People will live in it, and there will no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will dwell in security.

12 Now this will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13 It will come about in that day that a great panic from Yahweh will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be lifted against the hand of another. 14 Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance. 15 So also like this plague will be the plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey and all the cattle that will be in those camps.

16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh Sabaoth, and to celebrate Sukkot. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Yahweh Sabaoth, there will be no rain on them. 18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which Yahweh smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate Sukkot. 19 This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate Sukkot.

20 In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “Holy to Yahweh.” And the cooking pots in Yahweh’s house will be like the bowls before the altar. 21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Yahweh Sabaoth; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of Yahweh Sabaoth in that day.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
