Raymond Ibrahim—U.S. at Easter: When Christians Are Slaughtered, Look the Other Way:

Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamic extremist group, has killed more people in the name of jihad than the Islamic State (ISIS), according to the findings of a new report. Since 2000, when twelve Northern Nigerian states began implementing or more fully enforcing Islamic sharia law, “between 9,000 to 11,500 Christians” have been killed. This is “a conservative estimate.”

In addition, “1.3 million Christians have become internally displaced or forced to relocate elsewhere,” and “13,000 churches have been closed or destroyed altogether.” Countless “thousands of Christian businesses, houses and other property have been destroyed.”

The report alludes to a number of other factors that connect the growth of the Nigerian jihad to the growth of the global jihad. The rise of anti-Christian, Islamic supremacism “did not emerge in Northern Nigeria until the 1980s, when Nigerian scholars and students returned from Arabic countries influenced by Wahhabi and Salafist teaching. Each year, thousands of West African Muslims get free scholarships to pursue their studies in the Sunni Arab countries; this has had a major impact on Nigerian culture.”

This “major impact” is not limited to Nigeria. Saudi Arabia annually spends over $100 billion disseminating “Wahhabi and Salafist teaching” — or what growing numbers of Muslims refer to as “true Islam”. They also do so through European mosques and those in the United States. Behind the radicalization of ISIS, Boko Haram, and Lone Wolf Muslims, stand America’s best Muslim friends and allies.

Another important finding from the report is that, “Not just radical Islam, Boko Haram being the most notable example, but also Muslim Hausa-Fulani herdsmen and the Northern Muslim political and religious elite are also major actors of targeted violence towards the Christian minority.”

Most recently, on March 2, Nigerian human rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe sent an email saying: “I arrived Nigeria a few days ago to investigate what appears to be the worst massacre by Muslim [Hausa-Fulani] herdsmen… Over 500 Christian villagers were slain in one night.”

Similarly, according to a West African source, “Once Boko Haram is defeated, the problem will not be solved. Christians living under Sharia law are facing discrimination and marginalization and have limited to no access to federal rights.”

The report finally finds that much of the anti-Christian violence derives from the historical “migration of Muslims into non-Muslim territories in northern Nigeria to promote the Islamic religious and missionary agenda in all parts of northern Nigeria.” In other words, what Christians in Nigeria are experiencing is a live snapshot of what millions of Christians and other non-Muslims have experienced since the seventh century, when Islam “migrated” to their borders: violence, persecution, enslavement, and the destruction of churches.

SnyderTalk Comment: According to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, telling the world that Islamists are Muslims is the worst offense we can commit.

If telling that simple truth bothers them, this one will infuriate them: Islamists are the only real Muslims because they are the only ones who take the Quran seriously.

The truth is what it is.  Telling it is my job.  Not telling it has caused the problems we have today.

I call it know and tell.

Non-Muslims who don’t know the truth will learn it sooner or later.  The way they learn it can be gruesome.

See “Blast in crowded Pakistan park kills at least 60”: “An explosion ripped through a crowded Pakistan park where Christians were celebrating Easter on Sunday, killing at least 60 people, officials told the Associated Press.”

It’s just getting started.

1: The TelegraphMurdered Muslim shopkeeper’s family fear for their lives from hardline Islamic factions:

The family of a popular Muslim shopkeeper who was murdered after posting an online Easter message to “my beloved Christian nation” has disclosed they fear for their lives following the brutal attack.

Asad Shah’s wife and siblings said they had been left “heartbroken” by the killing and they had been overwhelmed by the messages of support they had received from the local community in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.

But they only spoke on the condition their names were not published for fear of retribution and disclosed they have been advised by the police to be careful what they say in order to protect their security.

SnyderTalk Comment: “Ordinary peaceful Muslims” have more to fear from ISIS and other Islamist groups than anyone else.  They are regarded as worse than infidels (that’s you and me) because they should have known better.

Keep that in mind the next time you hear Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton spout forth about Islam.  They are liars to the core.

2: Washington PostThe Latest: Anti-IS protesters disrupt Brussels square:

The Latest on the attacks that left 31 dead and 270 wounded in Brussels. (all times local):

3:25 p.m.

A Brussels square that has been a memorial site turned agitated on Sunday when black-clad men started shouting slogans and carrying a banner with an expletive against the Islamic State group.

Hundreds of people were remembering the 31 victims of Tuesday’s attacks when dozens of men, some in balaklavas and anonymous masks, barged to the center of Place de la Bourse and mounted the steps of the stock exchange building.

Riot squads joined plainclothes policemen to move the protesters away from the square. A water cannon sprayed the protesters.

The anti-IS rally came despite government appeals not to hold a march against fear Sunday in Brussels since the security forces were stretched too thinly to provide security.

3: Washington PostProbe into Brussels bombings expands across Europe:

The investigation into last week’s deadly attacks in Brussels extended farther across Europe on Sunday after Italian police arrested a new suspect thought to have helped Islamic State militants slip into Western Europe unnoticed.

Italian police said late Saturday that they had arrested an Algerian man suspected of providing several Islamic State supporters with false identification documents, allowing them to evade authorities as they plotted attacks in Belgium and France.

“The Algerian arrested today in Salerno is part of a network of forgers of residency” documents, police said in a message on Twitter.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, 40-year-old Djamal Eddine Ouali had been the subject of a Belgian arrest warrant since January. ANSA said he was suspected to have given the falsified papers to Salah Abdeslam, arrested this month in Belgium on suspicion of involvement in the Nov. 13 Paris attacks; Najim Laachraoui, believed to have been one of the suicide bombers on Tuesday at the Brussels airport; and another man killed by Belgian authorities in a raid this month.

4: Burak Bekdil—Turkish Hatred: When the Truth Slips Out

The bomb attack in Istanbul on the morning of March 19 was the fifth similar act of terror targeting two of Turkey’s biggest — Istanbul and Ankara — since October.

The suicide bomber, a 24-year-old with links to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), detonated his explosives on Istiklal Avenue, one of Istanbul’s busiest streets and a popular tourist attraction. Three Israeli tourists (two of them also carrying U.S. passports) and one Iranian were killed. Dozens of wounded people were rushed to nearby hospitals. The death toll since October was now at nearly 200, including 14 tourists.

At first this author thought that his initial instinct to expect something “out of line” because the victims were now Israeli citizens was wrong. The official, diplomatic way Turkey and Israel were handling the tragedy looked impressively civilized. Even before the bomb attack, there were unusually nice Turkish gestures. A few days before the Istanbul bombing, a senior Turkish official, Ahmet Aydin, deputy speaker of parliament (from the ruling AKP party), had praised historical ties between the peoples of Turkey and Jewish citizens of the country. He described their relationship as “a unity of destiny,” and underlined “Jewish citizens’ contribution in founding the Republic of Turkey.” Such language is too rare in Turkey, and even more rare when it comes from an official from the ruling [Islamist] Justice and Development Party (AKP).

SnyderTalk Comment: This may come as a surprise.

In 1492 when Spain ordered Jews to convert to Christianity, leave the country, or be killed, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Sultân Bayezid-î Velî, sent ships to Spain to rescue the Jews and bring them to Turkey.  Jewish people lived and thrived there for centuries.

In 1948 when Israel was reborn, the Turkish government helped the fledgling Jewish state set up the elaborate security apparatus that Israel is so famous for today.  If you haven’t been to Israel, that won’t mean much, but Israel doesn’t have the same kinds of problem with Islamists that we have.  There is a reason for that.

Things changed when Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came to power in 2003.  Thankfully, Katie and I visited Turkey in 2002. That was B.E.—before Erdoğan.

We stayed in a Turkish hotel in downtown Istanbul and had a wonderful time.  We roamed the streets and talked with the people.  We liked them and they liked us.

Istanbul is not the same place today.  As much as we enjoyed our visit, we’re not planning another trip to Turkey until things change.

The fledgling Christian community grew up in Turkey.  All those churches that you read about in Revelation are in Turkey.  Paul was born in Tarus.  It’s in Turkey.  He wrote a letter to the people living in Ephesus.  It’s in Turkey.

I would like to go back to Turkey, but I’ll have to wait.

To our friends in Turkey, keep the light on for us.  We would love to see you again.  You have a beautiful and an historic country.

Two closing thoughts:

1. There are more Greek and Roman ruins in Turkey than there are in Greece and Italy.  That’s not an exaggeration.  You have to see it to believe it.

2. Hagia Sophia in Istanbul was built by Justinian in 537 A.D. as a Christian church.  It, too, has to be seen to be believed.  I took the picture below from a long distance away.  Hagia Sophia is so large that I had to take the picture from a distance to get it all in one photo.

5: Hurriyet Daily NewsTurkish President Erdoğan slams foreign envoys at journalists’ trial:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has severely criticized a group of Western diplomats who attended the trial of two daily Cumhuriyet journalists on March 25.

“Yesterday there was a hearing of a known journalist,” Erdoğan said in a speech on March 26 in Istanbul, referring to Cumhuriyet Editor-in-Chief Can Dündar. Dündar was on trial on spying charges on March 25 along with his Ankara bureau chief, Erdem Gül.

“The situation ıf those who attended this hearing is very important,” said Erdoğan. “The consuls general in Istanbul come to the courthouse. Who are you, what are you doing there?”

The president said there should be “diplomatic propriety.”

“This is not your country, this is Turkey,” Erdoğan said.

SnyderTalk Comment: This thing smells to high heaven.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
