Uzay Bulut—”Muslim Jerusalem”: Turkey’s Message of “Peace” to Israel:

Turkey’s attempts at “normalizing relations with Israel” apparently do not actually aim to normalize the relations.

As often happens in the Middle East, there are two sound-tracks going on — one perhaps in English to Israel, and one in Turkish to Turkey’s citizens. Both sound-tracks cannot be right.

On July 1, 2010, Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu addressed his parliament:

“Jerusalem is our issue. Contrary to what you assume, it is not a territory of Israel. According to the international law, East Jerusalem is a part of the state of Palestine and is one of the territories under occupation. Al-Aqsa Mosque is in East Jerusalem, too. Al-Aqsa Mosque is not Israeli territory and will not be. If peace happens one day, — and that is what I mean — East Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine and a meeting of the Arab league will be held there, as well. We are giving a message of peace here. Yes, there will be peace and East Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine.”

Jerusalem, he said, was a Turkish issue because of its period of Ottoman rule:

“Even the religious sites in east Jerusalem are administered according to the Ottoman ‎precedent. There is no other practice. There is no other law. The Ottoman precedent is still ‎valid.”

Then, referring to the Mavi Marmara incident, in which a Turkish flotilla, trying to break Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip, was intercepted by Israel, he said:

“This is the first time Israel has been isolated to this extent in the world. We have seen enormous solidarity. That is why its [Israel’s] government has started to break down. It is going to break down. It is our national honor to follow the law of Turkish citizens.”

Davutoglu, foreign minister at the time of the Mavi Marmara incident, added that Turkey would continue to isolate Israel in international platforms.

Since Davutoglu became prime minister in August, 2014, his stance against Israel has not changed.

On April 26, 2015, in an AKP party rally in the province of Erzincan, he targeted Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the head of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), and alleged that Kilicdaroglu had asked earlier “Why do we not have ambassadors in Syria, Egypt and Israel?”

“Kilicdaroglu asks us a question on the side of Israel. They would be scared of asking questions to Israel. For their masters get instructions from them [Israelis].”

He then went on to explain his government’s criteria of forming international friendships:

“One: We cannot be friends with tyrants. Two: We cannot be friends with those who [stage or support] coup d’états. Three: We cannot be friends with those who trample upon human dignity. One: We are the friend of the oppressed. Two: We are defenders of liberties. Three: We always say justice.

“As long as Israel persecutes Gaza, as long as it enters Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa Mosque with its combat boots, our becoming friends with Israel is out of the question. We will not be [their friend].”

SnyderTalk Comment: As things are now, Israel and Turkey can’t be friends and allies.  Before President Erdogan took control of Turkey, that was more than a decade ago, Israel and Turkey were friends.  When he assumed power, everything changed.

People who love Yahweh have no choice.  We must side with Israel.  The things for which the Israelis people, most of whom are from the tribe of Judah, are being castigated globally have to do with promises that Yahweh made to and about the Children of Israel and the Promised Land.

Right now, Judah is in the Promised Land.  They are holding the fort, as it were, but they are doing it as much for the rest of us who have a stake in the outcome as they are for themselves.

Stated another way, Israelis are paying the price for doing what must be done, but anyone who loves Yahweh shares responsibility with them.

People who don’t love Yahweh could care less.  They may even resent it.  That’s a problem we’ll have to live with.  We must do what we must do because we have faith in Yahweh and believe His promises.

Interestingly, our salvation is dependent on those promises.  Yahweh’s promises are all we have to rely on.  He didn’t give us those promises as a smorgasbord from which we can cherry pick the ones we like and reject the rest.

SnyderTalk Comment: I don’t feel sorry for the residents of Gaza, either.  They had a chance to do something positive, but the squandered it by turning over the reins of power to Hamas.

Hamas has one goal—the destruction of Israel.  All you have to do is read the Hamas charter and watch what they do to understand it.  The people of Gaza know it and support Hamas.

Bottom line: they knew what they were doing when they elected Hamas, and now they are paying the fiddler.

I don’t feel sorry for Syrian “refugees”, either.  European countries are experiencing exactly what I knew would happen if they allowed unvetted “refugees” to enter.  If you have been a regular SnyderTalk reader, you know that.

It boils down to this: Islam has a problem.  Those who control the religion are using it to destroy Israel, Western culture, and the rule of law.  I refuse to support them in any way.

I am not anti-Muslim.  People who call themselves Muslims are human beings.  I can deal with them on a human level and disagree with them at the same time.  I can even be friends with them, but if they decide to annihilate me and my family, they will see a different side of me.

That’s what Hamas, the PA, ISIS, and other Islamist groups with menacing names are doing.

It’s not just about Israel.  It’s Islam vs. the world.

1: Washington PostIn the Syria chess game, did Putin outwit Obama?:

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s sudden move to withdraw Russian forces from Syria, and declare the putative end of his country’s main military operations there, once more caught many international observers by surprise. As my colleagues report, the pullout coincides with renewed diplomatic efforts to stop the ghastly five-year conflict and places the onus on the Kremlin-backed regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to reach a deal with its opponents.

It also raises more questions about the approach taken by the White House, which had earlier warned that Moscow would get embroiled in a “quagmire,” only to see pro-Assad forces make considerable gains at the expense of rebel militias backed by the United States and its allies.

There’s no question that Russia’s intervention in Syria had real game-changing effects. Initially premised on aiding the fight against the jihadist Islamic State, Putin’s ensuing campaign has instead targeted mostly other rebel groups, including some factions supported by the CIA.

2: AlgemeinerNGO Watchdog Calls Transfer of Western Funds to Palestinian Organizations Encouraging Terrorism ‘Immoral and Illegal’:

The head of an Israel-based watchdog organization on Wednesday called the transfer of money to groups that encourage terrorism “both immoral and illegal.”

Prof. Gerald Steinberg, founder and president of NGO Monitor, was responding to a new report – prepared by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) – revealing that a number of Palestinian organizations that receive funding from the West have been openly supporting terrorism.

The MEMRI report lists five such organizations in particular, which “express this support with ceremonies exalting terrorists, with public displays of support for attacks and their perpetrators, by lionizing terrorists, and by posting inciting content on social media.”

“This report further highlights the irresponsible policies and lack of due diligence by the EU and other state funders for so-called civil society groups,” Steinberg told The Algemeiner. “There is no justification for European democracies, the UN and private funders to give money to any individual, group or institution that backs terrorism.”

3: Defense OneRussia’s Withdrawal from Syria Isn’t All That Unexpected:

Not quite six months after it began, Russia’s military buildup in Syria may be drawing to a close.

“I consider the mission set for the Defence Ministry and the armed forces on the whole has been accomplished,” President Vladimir Putin told government ministers on Monday, the BBC reported. “I am therefore ordering the Defence Ministry to begin the withdrawal of the main part of our military force from the Syrian Arab Republic from tomorrow.”

Still, Putin said, operations at Russia’s Hmeimim airbase and its Mediterranean port at Tartus will continue, the BBC reported. It was not immediately clear just what would change.

Of course, that’s been the case ever since Moscow sent troops, jets, radars, and more to Syria in September. Putin declared that his forces were there to help the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State and its fellow radical militants, but observers noted that many Russian airstrikes seemed aimed at political opponents of Syrian strongman Bashar Assad.

4: Times of IsraelTrump warns of ‘riots’ if GOP withholds White House nod:

Donald Trump warned Wednesday that “riots” could break out if he is denied the Republican presidential nomination despite having won most of the party’s primary and caucus elections.

“We’re way ahead of everybody. I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically,” Trump told CNN the morning after his latest round of election victories, in the states of Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.

“I think you would have riots,” he said. “You know, I’m representing many, many millions of people.”

Trump, who has never held elected office, has dominated the 2016 presidential campaign thus far with his bombastic style and his unexpectedly strong popularity with masses of American voters.

The billionaire businessman says many of his supporters — disenfranchised Americans who normally steer clear of politics — are already seething about what they perceive as a political and economic system that is rigged against them.

“These are people who haven’t voted, because they didn’t believe in the system, or didn’t like candidates. They are 40, 50, and 60 years old and never voted. Many Democrats and many independents (are) coming in,” he said.

SnyderTalk Comment: Riots?  Maybe and maybe even probably, but this is something I know:

The GOP as we know it will cease to exist if the GOP establishment attempts to steal the nomination from Donald Trump.

The GOP is on thin ice.  I hope GOP stalwarts understand that.

By the way, if Trump runs against Hillary Clinton in the general election, I think he will win in a landslide.

5: Raymond Ibrahim—ISIS Massacre of Christians Not “Genocide,” Obama Administration Insists

According to the Obama administration, the Islamic State is committing genocide against certain religious minority groups — excluding Christian minorities. During a February 29 press briefing, White House spokesman Josh Earnest was asked: “Is the Islamic State carrying out a campaign of genocide against Syria’s Christians?” He replied:

Well, we have long expressed our concerns with the tendency of — well, not a tendency — a tactic employed by ISIL to slaughter religious minorities in Iraq and in Syria. You’ll recall at the very beginning of the military campaign against ISIL that some of the first actions that were ordered by President Obama, by the United States military, were to protect Yazidi religious minorities that were essentially cornered on Mt. Sinjar by ISIL fighters. We took those strikes to clear a path so that those religious minorities could be rescued.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
