Times of Israel— Victory for BDS as SodaStream’s last Palestinian workers lose their jobs:

Two years ago, The Times of Israel reported on SodaStream’s plant at the West Bank industrial zone of Mishor Adumim, where the Israeli carbonated beverage company was employing 1,300 workers. Of that workforce, 350 were Israeli Jews, 450 were Israeli Arabs and 500 were West Bank Palestinians. Management and staff confirmed to our reporter that pay and benefits were identical for workers in comparable jobs, irrespective of their citizenship and ethnicity.

We headlined the article, “At SodaStream, Palestinians hope their bubble won’t burst.”

On Monday, it did.

On Monday, SodaStream reluctantly announced that it was laying off its last 75 Palestinian workers, having failed to secure permits from the Israeli government for them to work at its new factory in the southern Israeli Bedouin town of Rahat. Under pressure from anti-Israel boycott groups, which launched a ferocious campaign against SodaStream and its spokeswoman Scarlett Johansson, the firm had closed its Mishor Adumim plant last October.

Hundreds of Palestinians who had been treated equitably by a fair-minded, decent Israeli firm are now out of work.

SnyderTalk Comment: Do-gooders should be proud.  They have made life difficult for Palestinians who are seeking a better life.  They must think that the people who lost their jobs can always join the ranks of shiftless terrorists.

“Liberal, progressives” have done incalculable harm to large numbers of people for a very long time. They have left innocent, hard-working Palestinians to fend for themselves in a land ruled by warlords in suits.  Their leaders are corrupt and vicious to the core.

Do-gooders are hurting Israel and the Palestinians they pretend to support.  Ron White has an interesting take on it.  He says, “You can’t fix stupid.”

They aren’t stupid, but they are idiotic.

It’s time to put an end to the madness.

See “Netanyahu: Palestinian Terrorism Not Motivated by Despair”.

There is no doubt that do-gooders play an important part in Palestinian terror.

SnyderTalk Comment: As I have said, global warming stopped about 2 decades ago.  That’s not my opinion.  It’s based on scientific evidence.

Keep that in mind as we move through the 2016 election season.  We should demand that those running for president tell the truth about climate change.

1: AlgemeinerNew Survey Reveals Vast Majority of Americans More Sympathetic to Israel Than PA; Still Support Palestinian Statehood:

Findings of a Gallup poll released on Monday revealed that though most Americans are more sympathetic to Israel than to the Palestinian Authority, a majority also favors the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The survey further indicated that Republicans are more likely to be disposed favorably to Israel than Democrats.

The poll, conducted by phone at the beginning of February, among a random sample of 1,021 adults (18 and older) across the United States, also showed that Americans’ views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have remained steady over the past year, with 62 percent saying their sympathies lie more with the Israelis, as opposed to 15% favoring the Palestinians.

SnyderTalk Comment: As I read poll data, I keep in mind that Yahweh doesn’t care one iota what people’s opinions are.  He has told us what He is going to do.  It’s not subject to change.

We are heading for a confrontation with Yahweh.  He wins in the end.

2: Washington PostWhy so many immigrants in Germany are opposed to the refugee influx:

Thousands of people in cities across Germany marched against the refugee influx last weekend. But what struck observers most were not the slogans but rather the origins of those chanting them.

Many protesters, according to German media reports, were themselves immigrants and former refugees.

That Germany’s newest citizens are also among the country’s most outspoken critics of migrants has flabbergasted experts and politicians alike.

A widely cited survey from several weeks ago showed that about one in four migrants thinks Germany should stop taking in refugees altogether, whereas support for refugees is far higher among all Germans, according to the polling institute infratest dimap. Overall, only 4 percent of all Germans agreed that refugees fleeing war should not be granted asylum.

SnyderTalk Comment: It’s not as simple as many so-called “liberals” in Europe and the U.S. would have us believe.  Many legal immigrants in Europe and the U.S. are opposed to illegal immigrants and potentially dangerous legal immigrants.

Maybe we should carve out a new country somewhere and call it something like “Dumbassistan”.  In it, we could house all the European and U.S. “liberals” who think every immigrant is okay.  Then we could send them all the immigrants that responsible Western leaders refuse to accept.

That should make them happy for a little while.  When violence erupts, they may change their minds.  If they do, they can apply for asylum in another country.  Of course, they should be vetted because compassionate nations don’t need any more dufuses than they have already.

3: Peter Pry and Peter Huessy—North Korea’s Nuclear Missile Threat: Very Bad News:

The mainstream media and their stable of “experts” consistently underestimate North Korea’s missile and nuclear weapon capabilities. The gap between how the media report on the North Korean nuclear missile threat and the reality of the threat has become so wide as to be dangerous.

In the aftermath of North Korea’s latest nuclear test on January 6, 2016, for instance, and its launch of a mock satellite on February 7, 2016, the American people were told that North Korea has not miniaturized a nuclear warhead for delivery by missile nor could the missile strike the U.S. with any accuracy.

Mirren Gidda, for example, writing in Newsweek, inexplicably claims “International experts doubt that North Korea has manufactured nuclear weapons small enough to fit on a missile.”

Yet this commonplace assertion that North Korea does not have nuclear-armed missiles is simply untrue.

SnyderTalk Comment: It won’t surprise me if North Korea plays an important role during the End of Days.  This is something I know: no one knows exactly what Yahweh has in mind.  Those who think they do are delusional.

4: Nima Gholam Ali Pour—Sweden’s Migration Industry

When you talk to journalists from the U.S. or the UK, they often seem to think that Sweden is a humanitarian superpower that has received refugees because the Swedish government is following some ideology based on doing good deeds.

That Sweden is a humanitarian superpower, eager to lead by example, is a myth that needs exposing once and for all. The recent migration wave to Sweden has made some people poor and others very, very rich.

Every day one reads news in Sweden about the winners and the losers in the migration industry. One of the winners in Sweden’s migration industry is ICA Bank. In November 2015, it invoiced the Swedish Migration Agency $8 million for providing asylum seekers prepaid cards. For every cash withdrawal, ICA Bank takes a $2 fee, and for every prepaid card activated, it takes $21. ICA Bank won the contract without any competition; its contract with the Migration Agency extends to March 2017.

SnyderTalk Comment: As Deep Throat told Bernstein and Woodward, “Follow the money.”

5: Israel Hayom— We are not alone:

Last Thursday, the candidates in a Republican presidential debate battled over who was Israel’s biggest supporter. At the same time, a number of top Democratic senators were vigorously promoting a bill that would ban commercial boycotts of Israel. And The Wall Street Journal prominently featured an article on Saturday that painted Israel in a sympathetic light.

Over the weekend, I spoke at an event organized by Mishelanu, a student group established by the Israeli American Council. Hundreds of young Jews came from all over the U.S. to learn more about Israel and identify with and express support for it.

So presidential candidates of all stripes, the media, and young Jews are proving that America is still with us, despite the intense efforts of the anti-Israel boycott movement in recent years.

SnyderTalk Comment: I’m thrilled that so many people in the U.S. support Israel.  I wish that every one of us supported the tiny Jewish state, but Israel would not be alone even if no one in the U.S. supported her.

Israel has Yahweh.  He made promises about them and their country that are rock solid and certain.  He will always be Israel’s friend.  In fact, He is the only friend Israel needs.  I suspect the day will come when He is the only friend Israel has.

6: Washington PostWhy this election makes me hate the word ‘evangelical’:

It wasn’t even intentional on my part. I just noticed a few weeks ago that I had stopped describing myself to people as an “evangelical.” I had begun, subconsciously, to say that I am a “gospel Christian.” When I caught myself doing this, I wondered why and the answer wasn’t long in coming.

The word “evangelical” has become almost meaningless this year, and in many ways the word itself is at the moment subverting the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Part of the problem is that more secular people have for a long time misunderstood the meaning of “evangelical,” seeing us almost exclusively in terms of election-year voting blocs or our most buffoonish television personalities. That’s especially true when media don’t distinguish in election exit polls between churchgoers and those who merely self-identify as “born again” or “evangelical.”

SnyderTalk Comment: I don’t want to get into all the details about “going to church”, but I will say this: the church, the ekklesia, is not a place.  It’s the people.  The place has come to stand for the people. That’s a huge part of the problem.  I have a lot more to say, but now is not the time.

For the most part, the points made in the article are spot-on.  Every time I see Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson or a host of other money-grubbing “Christian” leaders spout forth as if they represent Yahweh, it makes me want to puke.

7: Washington PostThe world’s abortion policies, explained in 7 charts and maps:

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear its most significant abortion-related case in nearly a decade on Wednesday. With eyes focused on Washington, it is worth exploring how other countries have dealt with the issue.

In 2013, the United Nations published an extensive report on abortion policies all over the world. Although some details may have changed since then, the data provides striking insights that are worth considering amid the heated U.S. debate.

At least 71 countries allowed abortion “to preserve a woman’s physical or mental health” in 2013. Moreover, 50 countries permitted abortion “to save a woman’s life.”

SnyderTalk Comment: You’ll need to go to the article to see the charts and maps.

8: ReutersRepublican Trump releases healthcare proposals:

U.S. Republican presidential front-runner candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday unveiled proposals for reforming U.S. healthcare that included repealing Obamacare, allowing prescription drugs to be imported, and turning the Medicaid program for the poor into block grants to states.

The plan also calls for the sale of health insurance plans across state lines, full deduction of health insurance premiums from income tax and adds: “We must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance.” (here)

Trump, who is the front-runner in the race to become the Republican nominee in November’s presidential election, is also proposing allowing individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HAS) to pay for out-of-pocket expenses. Contributions to HSAs would be tax-free and could be passed on to heirs without any tax penalty.

The proposals include requiring “…price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.”

On drug prices, Trump departs from standard Republican policy by calling for lowering barriers to cheaper imported pharmaceuticals.

“Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers,” the statement says, adding that “Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Like him or not, Donald Trump’s healthcare proposals make a lot of sense.  Common sense has been sorely lacking in U.S. healthcare legislation.  It’s time for that to change.

One thing Trump has going for him is that he is not indebted to the establishment in either major political party.  It’s no wonder that they don’t like him.

In some ways, Trump reminds me of Ronald Reagan.

I’m not in the endorsement business.  I’m just calling them like I see them.

See “Mitt Romney: Donald Trump ‘a phony, a fraud’”.  I can remember when Mitt Romney lost the presidential election in 2012 because of one thing and one thing only.  Millions of Republicans refused to vote for him, so they didn’t vote at all.  That’s why Obama won the second time.

Obama won the first time in 2008 because the GOP ran a lackluster candidate who didn’t appeal to the conservative wing of the party.  He chose a loose talking and ill-informed running mate.  They were toast from the get-go.

Is Romney so foolish that he thinks Hillary Clinton would be a better president than Donald Trump?  I hope not.

Romney needs to exercise more discretion.
