The Israeli “Settlements” Issue is Bigger than Most People Think

The last several times I’ve been to Israel, I’ve run into a man at Mamilla Mall who champions the “United Jerusalem” cause.  Mamilla Mall is a high-end shopping and eating area just outside the Old City of Jerusalem.  It’s very near Jaffa Gate.  Lots of Israeli people go there, but primarily it’s a tourist attraction.

I enjoy Mamilla Mall because it’s a convenient stopping point for Katie and me.  Routinely, we drink coffee there in the mornings on our way to the Old City.  In the afternoons and evenings, we stop there for a glass of wine or Pellegrino water.  Occasionally, we eat a meal in one of the restaurants, but there are lots of good restaurants in Jerusalem.  The best ones are not at Mamilla Mall.

Katie took the picture below at Mamilla Mall.  She likes to take pictures of the Palestinian women and girls who frequent Jewish shops and restaurants all over town.  There are plenty of them.  The 4 girls in front of us are all Palestinians and Muslims.  They move about Jewish sections of Jerusalem freely without fear or harassment of any sort.  I can’t say the same thing about Muslim sections of the city.  In some of them, walking down the street is risky.  Others are downright dangerous for Westerners and Jews, especially religious Jews.  You’re taking a big chance if you go there.

0 ST Picture 3

The man from United Jerusalem uses the walkways at Mamilla Mall like the one in the picture as his office.  Each day, he goes to work and stops tourists as they wander about.  He runs through a spiel and then asks for money.

I remember him, but he doesn’t remember me.  I’ve started reminding him that we have met before and that I support his cause.  Each year, he asks for more money.

I’ll see him again in a few weeks.  When I do, I’ll have to refresh his memory another time.

United Jerusalem’s purpose is to broadcast the message that Jerusalem is and should be Israel’s capital and not the capital of another state.  In essence, United Jerusalem is opposed to the two-state solution.  Its members regard Judea and Samaria as part of Israel.  The man at Mamilla Mall will widen his scope and tell you about it if you take a little time to talk with him.

Judea and Samaria are also known as the West Bank.  Today, the Palestinian Authority governs the West Bank, but there are scattered Israeli settlements in the region.  Those settlements are the cause of much consternation for global political leaders.

For example, Shiloh is a settlement in the West Bank.  Yahweh’s tabernacle stood there for 369 years before the Philistines destroyed the town nearby.  That was in 1094 B.C.

Below is a video of the site where the tabernacle stood.  Occasionally, Palestinian terrorists attack “settlers” from Shiloh as they travel to and from work in Jerusalem.

Below is a map showing the approximate border of Greater Israel according to Yahweh.  It’s outlined in red.  Inside Greater Israel, there is a red oblong circle showing Israel’s current borders.  Inside that circle, there is a black oblong circle showing the West Bank or Judea and Samaria.  There is some dispute about the exact borders of Greater Israel, but there is no dispute about the fact that it is much larger than Israel is today.

The “settlements” issue has become the latest cause du jour of Palestinian leaders because ignorant donors around the world buy into it.  They believe the lies about Israel invading Palestinian territory and line the pockets of people like Mahmoud Abbas with dollars and euros.  As long as the lie works, “settlements” will remain the Palestinian cause.  When it ceases to be effective in fundraising, Abbas and his hooligans will advance another lie.

That’s what I call the Palestinian Two-Step.  I’ve watched the dance for decades, and I understand it.  Politicians and journalists understand it, too, but they don’t talk about it.

Israel’s “settlement” policy came under attack in Great Britain a few days ago.  An article in The Independent titled “Benjamin Netanyahu attacks David Cameron for saying Israeli settlement policy is ‘genuinely shocking’” sheds light on the situation:

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rebuked David Cameron for calling Israeli settlement policy in parts of Jerusalem “genuinely shocking”.

Speaking at a Likud Party event, Mr Netanyahu said: “My friend David Cameron, who is undoubtedly a friend of Israel, seems to have forgotten a few basic facts about Jerusalem.

“Only Israeli sovereignty guarantees the Arab residents the city roads, clinics, employment and all the other trappings of normal life their brethren do not enjoy elsewhere in the Middle East.”

Mr Cameron had said in Prime Minister’s Questions: “Yes, we are supporters of Israel, but we do not support illegal settlements, we do not support what is happening in East Jerusalem.

He added: “I am well known as being a strong friend of Israel but I have to say the first time I visited Jerusalem and had a proper tour around that wonderful city and saw what has happened with the effective encirclement of East Jerusalem – occupied East Jerusalem – it is genuinely shocking.”

“East” Jerusalem “settlements” are the immediate cause for Cameron’s concern, but “settlements” in Judea and Samaria are driving the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement.  So-called “settlements” anywhere in Israel are inextricably linked.

A couple of years ago, the United Jerusalem man asked me why I supported the cause.  I told him that Yahweh gave the land to the Children of Israel and that settles the matter.

He said, “You’re presenting the religious argument.”

“No,” I said. “I’m presenting the truth.”

When Yahweh speaks on a matter, it’s settled.  Believers understand that.  Unbelievers and pretenders don’t.

I’m not vilifying Prime Minster Cameron, but I am saying this: he is not a man of faith.  His argument about “settlements” proves my point.

A person can’t say in one breath that he has faith in Yahweh and that he is a friend of Israel and in the next breath say that he rejects Yahweh’s promises.  His promises are all we have to rely on.  He didn’t give us those promises as a smorgasbord from which we can pick the ones we like.

Yahweh is not a politician.  He’s not running for office.  He doesn’t look to opinion polls for answers. He’s not trying to rally support for his agenda.  He simply speaks the truth.

People of faith follow Him.  Others don’t.  It’s as simple as that.

Those who have a problem with Israel’s “settlements” policy are in for a big surprise.  When they finally realize how much land Israel owns, they will be without excuse.  By the time they come to grips with reality, it may be too late for them.

Yahweh identified Israel’s borders more than 3,000 years ago.  Close approximations are on the map above.  People who don’t know about those borders aren’t just behind the curve.  They aren’t even near the curve.

“Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies. Let those who hate God run for their lives.” (Psalm 68: 1)

No one can run away from Yahweh.  Jonah tried it, and it didn’t work.  It never works.  When Yahweh decides to get someone, the game is over.

Jonah learned his lesson the hard way.  In the end, everyone will learn.  How we learn is up to us.

1: International Business TimesCould Military Buildup In South China Sea By China Lead To US Response?:

With China rapidly building up its military in the South China Sea, leaders from different branches of the United States military this week said the U.S. may have to respond by reconfiguring ships and forces deployed in the Pacific Ocean, Stars and Stripes reported.

Adm. Harry Harris, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, said this week operations in the Pacific are changing because China is militarizing a string of man-made islands in the South China Sea. The country is reportedly moving jets, bombers and radars onto the recently built islands, constructed atop submerged coral reefs and other underwater features.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson and Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller said Friday they want more than half of a planned 308-warship fleet in the Pacific by 2020. Richardson also said the Chinese buildup may also require the U.S. military to rethink its submarine fleet, saying the 48 attack submarines thought needed to assert its presence in the area may not be enough.

“Short of war, I’m aware of the threat. I’ll pay attention to the threat,” Harris said this week. “But that is not going to prevent us from flying, sailing or operating wherever international law allows.”

SnyderTalk Comment: This is not an immediate problem, but it could become a problem in the intermediate or long-term.  As Admiral Harris said, we should “pay attention to the [possible] threat”.

2: Jerusalem PostThe real strength of Israel:

Israel’s closest neighbor has brainwashed generations of children in vicious anti-Semitism, encouraged terrorism and has campaigned to erase the historical narrative of the Jewish people.

Israel’s long-term strength lies with its people.

My mother often tells me that she doesn’t like to read my articles because they depress her. And she’s right. They deal with existential security issues, boycotts, nuclear weapons, and neighbors who want to eliminate the state altogether.

Israel’s closest neighbor has brainwashed generations of children in vicious anti-Semitism, encouraged terrorism and has actively campaigned to erase the historical narrative of the Jewish people.

So any sane person might say to an Israeli, “Pack up, get yourself out of harm’s way,” because this is an existential not territorial conflict, supported by most of the Muslim world with the help and encouragement of the once great but now infamous United Nations and so-called “human rights” groups. The patient determination of Israel’s Middle East neighbors to destroy Israel is measured in decades and centuries.

SnyderTalk Comment: The Israeli people are amazing.  I’ve never seen anything like them.

You can look at Israel and the people who live there and see Yahweh at work.  Even those who don’t know Him are obeying Him by simply being there.

3: Jerusalem PostEgyptian MP: Netanyahu mediated between Obama and Sisi following the 2013 military coup:

The Egyptian MP said that he recommended Egyptian decision-makers to ask Israel to mediate between Egypt and the US to convince Obama to recognize Sisi’s regime.

Egyptian Member of Parliament, Tawfik Okasha, has revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mediated between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and US President Barack Obama following the military coup that took place in Egypt in July 2013.

On his show “Egypt Today” that was broadcast Saturday night on the Farareen TV channel, Okasha called for normalization with Israel, claiming that “Egypt is a very beautiful bride for Israel, and if Israel does not marry Egypt, it will destroy it.” He emphasized that today “Israel is trying to besiege Egypt in different arenas.”

Regarding Israel’s mediation between Egypt and the American administration, the Egyptian MP said: “After the 2013 military coup, I was invited to a discussion regarding the American refusal to recognize the newly-installed Egyptian regime. I told them that we should communicate with the Israelis and ask them to mediate between us and the American administration over US recognition of Sisi’s regime.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Interesting.  Sisi will talk with Netanyahu, but he won’t talk with Obama.

Sisi has no reservations about talking with Vladimir Putin.

It’s a strange, strange world we live in.

4: Ingrid Carlqvist—Gay Rape, Masked Men and Sheep in Restaurants:

January 4: After an autumn of chaos, when huge numbers of asylum seekers flooded into Sweden, the government was finally forced to implement border controls on its border with Denmark. Now, only those with valid identification documents are allowed to board trains and ferries to Sweden — effectively keeping people who have destroyed their IDs out of the country. How long it will take before most asylum seekers bring identification papers — genuine or fake — remains to be seen. So far, nine out of ten people seeking asylum in Sweden have not had identification. They can then adapt their background stories to increase their chances of being granted asylum.

January 5: The alternative news site Nyheter Idag reported that two 15-year-old boys living at an asylum house for “unaccompanied refugee children,” in the small town of Alvesta, were detained on suspicion of raping a younger boy. When the victim reported the incident, the police were alerted and the 15-year-olds were brought in for questioning. One of them has confessed to some of the accusations.

January 6: In another case of homosexual child-rape, two men who claiming to be 16-years-old were arrested on suspicion of raping a boy at an asylum house for “unaccompanied refugee children” in Uppsala. The rape was discovered when the younger boy visited a hospital, along with his legal guardian. One of the suspected rapists was released after being questioned by police, but is still under suspicion. The other was remanded into custody.

SnyderTalk Comment: It’s really difficult for me to understand how Arab Muslims who condemn homosexuality can see engaging in homosexual acts as a trivial matter.

One time, I asked a Syrian Arab Muslim about the obvious contradiction.  His eyes lit up.  He smiled and said, “Sex with young boys is a delicacy.”

I was baffled.

The more I talk with real Muslims (I don’t think “ordinary peaceful Muslims” are real Muslims), the more I realize how perverted they are.

It’s mindboggling.

5: Washington PostWhat the ‘oldest’ Muslim graves in Europe can tell us about the past:

Archaeologists working in the south of France claim to have discovered the oldest known graves of Muslims buried in France, and possibly all of Europe.

The researchers, whose study was published in the peer-reviewed online journal PLOS One, examined the skeletons unearthed in a series of graves near the French city of Nimes. They found that the bodies had been arranged deliberately facing Mecca. Radiocarbon testing confirmed the bones dated back to either the 7th or 8th century and other analysis of the remains suggested three individuals were of Berber or North African ancestry.

This places the graves in question around the time of the early Arab invasions into Western Europe, when Muslim armies entered and occupied parts of France before being pushed back behind the Pyrenees. Muslim kingdoms remained in the Iberian Peninsula until 1492, a lengthy history that has a profound, complex legacy in the West.

The researchers believe that the skeletons “were Berbers integrated into the Arab army during its rapid expansion through North Africa.” None of the bones, it should be noted, showed evidence of combat wounds.

“We knew that Muslims came to France in the eighth century but until now we did not have any material evidence of their passage,” Yves Gleize, an anthropologist with the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research and lead author of the study, told Agence France-Presse.

SnyderTalk Comment: Real Muslims believe that land conquered by Muslims remains Muslim land forever.  That’s why imams say that taking control in Europe is a certainty.  That’s also why Muslims set up enclaves in U.S. cities where infidels fear to tread.  If you doubt that, take a stroll down almost any street in Dearborn, Michigan.

6: Yahoo NewsTurkey’s Erdogan lambasts court ruling to free journalists:

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday he had “no respect” for a decision by Turkey’s top court to release two journalists held on charges of revealing state secrets, triggering accusations he was trampling on the constitution.

The Constitutional Court — one of the few Turkish public institutions not fully under Erdogan’s control — had allowed the release of the Cumhuriyet newspaper’s editor-in-chief Can Dundar and Ankara bureau chief Erdem Gul after three months in jail.

“I don’t concur with the decision and I have no respect for it,” Erdogan told reporters before leaving on a week-long trip to Africa.

“This issue is not remotely linked freedom of expression. It’s a spying case,” he said.

SnyderTalk Comment: In Erdogan’s Turkey, if you don’t agree with the dictator, you are a spy or a criminal or something else that lands you in prison.  If that’s not Hitleresque, I don’t know what is.

Erdogan and Obama are friends.  I’ll leave it at that.
