Caroline Glick—Who is being delusional?:
On Tuesday night, channel 10 broadcast an interview with PLO chief and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in which Abbas admitted publicly for the first time that he rejected the peace plan then prime minister Ehud Olmert offered him in 2008.
Olmert’s plan called for Israel to withdraw from the entire Old City of Jerusalem, including the Western Wall, and from 93.7 percent of Judea and Samaria. Olmert also offered sovereign Israeli territory to the Palestinians to compensate for the areas Israel would retain in Judea and Samaria.
Abbas said his rejection was unequivocal. “I didn’t agree. I rejected it out of hand.”
For years, the story of Abbas’s rejection of Olmert’s 2008 offer has been underplayed. Many commentators have insisted Abbas didn’t really reject it, but just failed to respond.
But now the truth is clear. Abbas is not interested either in peace or in Palestinian statehood.
Abbas’s many apologists in the Israeli Left insist that he didn’t reject the plan on its merits. Rather, they argue, Abbas rejected Olmert’s offer because, by the time Olmert made it, he was involved in criminal investigations that forced him to resign from office eight months later.
Hogwash, says former AP reporter Mark Lavie.
Following the interview’s broadcast, Lavie countered that if Abbas were truly interested in establishing an independent Palestinian state, he wouldn’t have cared about the political fortunes of the Israeli prime minister. He would have taken the offer and run, knowing that, as Olmert said, the likelihood that he’d get a similar offer in the next 50 years was nonexistent.

SnyderTalk Comment: Anyone who believes that Palestinians want peace with Israel is more than delusional.
Ignorance is a part of the problem. To conclude that Palestinians want peace, you must ignore mountains of contradictory evidence. For example, both the Hamas and Palestinian charters call for Israel’s annihilation. That’s a fact. People who don’t know it are woefully ignorant.
Stupidity is part of the problem, too. People who know the facts and still conclude that Palestinians want peace aren’t smart. Intelligent people don’t see opportunities for peace when one group raises their children to believe that their highest calling in life is to die as martyrs to rid the Promised Land of Jews. That’s what happens in Gaza and the West Bank. Palestinian children hear that message in mosques, at school, and at home.
Evil is another part of the problem. It’s not just a metaphor. Evil really exists. Lying, cheating, and stealing are integral components of the Palestinian modus operandi. They are the three best descriptors of the Palestinian mindset. That’s what the evidence shows. It’s evil to pretend that evil isn’t evil.
Delusion, ignorance, stupidity, and evil are the Palestinian’s aces in the hole. All four are in abundant supply throughout the world. Palestinians are betting that there are enough of those kinds of people to win in the end. Yahweh is none of those things. He’s Israel’s Protector and Deliverer.

Martin Pengelly—Obama urges gun control after Colorado Springs shooting: ‘Enough is enough’:
As the gunman behind the standoff at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood in which three people died and nine were injured was named as Robert Lewis Dear, a 57-year-old man from North Carolina, President Barack Obama said on Saturday the US had “to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them”.
“Period,” the president added, in a statement released by the White House. “Enough is enough.”
Officials speaking off the record gave the suspect’s identity to news outlets late on Friday. On Saturday morning, the city of Colorado Springs confirmed Dear’s identity and released a booking photo taken at the El Paso County criminal justice center.
No other detail was immediately available, including a motive for the attack which police said on Friday was carried out with a “long gun”, usually a reference to a rifle or shotgun.
SnyderTalk Comment: Obama must be stupid. His followers find that impossible to believe, but how can you explain his logic any other way?
Obama’s attitude toward gun control is as stupid as his refusal to admit that Islamist terrorists are “Muslims”. Obama believes that he alone determines reality. I have news for him: that’s Yahweh’s job and Obama isn’t Yahweh. He just thinks he is.
Law-abiding citizens are not a problem. We never have been. Obama plans to attack law-abiding citizens and ignore criminals, insane people, and terrorists. That’s no solution, but it is his “solution”.
Criminals, insane people, and terrorists don’t give a damn about the law. That’s as true in the U.S. as it is in France. Those guns that Obama wants to control are our best defense against the people Obama can’t control. His approach defies logic.
We will need guns and ammunition when the terrorists that Obama has given free passes attack us. It’s happening already, and it will happen more often in the days ahead. It’s the consequence of Obama’s misguided policies.
What motivates Obama to spout the same claptrap every time another incident occurs? If it’s not stupidity, what is it? Until someone comes up with a better explanation, I’ll attribute his ridiculous comments and foolish actions to stupidity.
By the way, the shootings referenced in this article occurred at an abortion factory: Planned Parenthood. Does any rational person believe that the government can support first-degree murder on a mass scale without repercussions?

Jerusalem Post Staff—Chief Rabbi of Brussels: There is no future for Jews in Europe:
In the shadow of the Paris terror attacks that killed 130 people and as Belgian police sweep the country for terror suspects, the Chief Rabbi of Brussels said Monday that there is no future for Jews in Europe.
Rabbi Avraham Gigi spoke to Israeli radio station 103 FM about the atmosphere of fear in the Belgian capital that has been in a state of near lockdown for the past three days.
“There is a sense of fear in the streets, the Belgians understand that they too are targets of terror. Jews now pray in their homes [as opposed to at synagogues] and some of them are planning on emigrating,” Gigi said.
“Since Shabbat the city has been paralyzed. The synagogues were closed, something which has not happened since World War Two. People are praying alone or are holding small minyanim [small prayer groups] at private homes. Schools and theaters are closed as are most large stores and public events are not permitted. We live in fear and wait for instructions from the police or the government,” he said.

People are dead in Paris because Europe decided to make a fetish of its tolerance for intolerance. We live in the age of the sanctified tantrum—the political and religious furies we dare not name or shame, much less confront. Students bully college administrators with contrived political demands. The administrators plead they can do better, then capitulate. Incompetent writers pen trite racial screeds aimed at the very society that lifts them above their ability. They are hailed as geniuses. Donald Trump’s bid for the Republican presidential nomination epitomizes the politics of the tantrum. He’s angry as hell, and so is his base. We’re supposed to respect this. And then there is the tantrum of Islam, another eruption of rage that feeds off our astonishing willingness to indulge it. Before Friday’s (November 13, 2015) carnage in the City of Light, the world was treated to the hideous spectacle of Palestinians knifing Jews in Israel. The supposed motive of these stabbings was a rumor among Palestinians—fanned by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas—that the Israeli government intended to allow Jews to pray on the Temple Mount.
This was a story the Israeli government adamantly denied and every serious person knew was false. Yet no senior Western leader dared call out Mr. Abbas to correct the record. Palestinian tantrums are sanctified tantrums. The violence they breed might be condemned, but the narrative on which they rest has the status of holy writ. It is no more to be questioned than the Quran is to be burned.
“To counteract the radicalization [in Europe],” Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström said in a televised interview only hours after the Paris attacks, “we must go back to the situation such as the one in the Middle East in which . . . the Palestinians see that there is no future; we must either accept a desperate situation or resort to violence.”
Here was the sanctified tantrum par excellence: People murder and maim because they have been put (by Israel) to a bleak choice. Rage is not to be condemned but understood, mitigated and mollified.
Adam Taylor—Why Israel is opening its first diplomatic mission in the UAE:
Israel will open an official diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks, Haaretz’s Barak Ravid revealed Friday. The new outpost in Abu Dhabi could be a big step for Israel, marking the first time it has had an official presence in the United Arab Emirates. It might also be evidence that the shifting realities of the Middle East could have a positive effect on Israel’s relations with the Gulf states and the broader Arab world.
Israel has long had limited diplomatic relations with the Gulf states, who, like much of the Arab world, do not recognize the State of Israel and who support the Palestinian cause. Currently, Israel has full diplomatic relations with just two of its Arab neighbors, Egypt and Jordan, signing peace treaties in 1979 and 1994. The only other member of the Arab League to maintain full relations with Israel is Mauritania, though there have some limited diplomatic and trade relationships with other Arab states.
The UAE does not formally have diplomatic or economic relations with Israel, and Israeli passport holders are only allowed in the country under special circumstances. Relations between the two countries took a serious step back in 2010, when Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh, a Hamas operative, was killed in a Dubai hotel room in what was widely suspected to have been an Israeli government-ordered assassination.

- “[T]here are more veiled women here in Molenbeek than in Casablanca.” — Resident interviewed by investigative reporter Gilles Gaetner.
- The many shops run by Jews suddenly disappeared in 2008 after harassment and threats by local “youths.” How did Mayor Moureaux react? By accusing Belgian Jews of wanting to deny Muslims the “right to diversity.”
- It is supposed to be Israel’s fault when the Arabs of Belgium — and especially those of Molenbeek — have a bad reputation? This type of anti-Semitic resentment is unfortunately not only typical for Moureaux, but for his entire party.
Burak Bekdil—Turkey: Wrong Partner to Fight Terror:
- In Erdogan’s usual Sunni supremacist language, he accused the victims of jihad rather than the jihadists.
- “New tragedies will be inevitable,” Erdogan said, “if the rising racism in Europe and other countries is not stopped.” Yet Erdogan willingly ignores the rising racism, xenophobia, and anti-western, jihadist sentiments that increasingly command the hearts and minds of his fellow Turks.
- How should Erdogan fight Islamic terror — something he does not believe exists? One of Erdogan’s famous remarks is, “there is no Islamic terror.” But he thinks that “just like fascism,” Zionism is a crime against humanity.
- It is so funny that the free world cannot see that its ally in fighting the jihadists is another jihadist.
SnyderTalk Comment: “Wrong partner” is an understatement. Erdogan is worse than Obama. That’s saying a lot.

East Jerusalem Arabs have committed a huge proportion of the recent attacks on Israelis. Whereas Israeli Arabs study the Israeli curriculum in school, most of east Jerusalem’s Arab residents study the Palestinian Authority curriculum, which is filled with vile anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement. This curriculum rejects the legitimacy of Israel’s existence, justifies violence against it, defines such violence as a religious obligation and informs students that Jews and Zionists are irredeemably evil.
Hussein Aboubakr—A Nation Dominated By Some Very Bad Ideas:
I was born and raised in Egypt, and I have experience with the rapid radicalization of Egyptian society. Advocates of reform in the Muslim world are as marginalized and persecuted as any other non-Muslim minority. Many such Muslims, like me, do not actually reside in their home countries but in the Western world since many parts of the Muslim world are extremely intolerant towards reform and criticism.
In my childhood I was told that every day that passes on the Islamic nation without a caliphate is a sin. That the failures and miseries of the Muslim world started the moment we gave up conquests and wars against the infidels. That our prosperity depends on conquering new lands, converting new believers, looting new resources and enslaving more women. I was taught that a Jew is essentially a demon in flesh and that it is our destiny as good Muslims to kill them all. It was not just me, a small child in Cairo, who was raised with these great apocalyptic prophecies, it was also so many people from all around the globe.
It is quite possible, at one point of history, to have an entire nation dominated by some very bad ideas. We have seen it before and we are seeing it today. For the West now to deny this fact and pretend that the majority of people are always naturally sane, rational, peace-loving hippies is hypocritical, misleading and dishonest. It is quite possible for a significant portion or even the majority of the world’s Muslim population (estimated to be over 1.5 billion) to be anti-Semitic, homophobic and in sympathy with violence and even Islamic totalitarianism.
Suzanna Goussous—Israel References in University of Jordan Geography Book Cause Controversy:
Members of the National Campaign for Defending Students’ Rights on Tuesday criticized a University of Jordan geography textbook for containing words that “promote normalization” of ties with Israel. “We are not used to seeing a book at Jordanian universities that recognizes the Zionist entity and the state of what is referred to as ‘Israel’,” said the group’s coordinator, Fakher Daas. The text reads: “Aqaba Gulf plays an important role in geopolitics between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel.”
Book editor and co-author Ziyad Makhamreh said the State of Israel is recognized in the UN and students should separate sentiments from reality, adding that the terms used in the book are “academic.” Yusra Husban, the other editor, said, “We must understand that there is an entity sharing the land with us.” Nevertheless, in the next edition of the book, to be released in 2016, Israel will be replaced with “the occupied territories” or Palestine, according to Husban.
Saleh Al-Shayeji—Israel Is Not Our Enemy:
After seven whole decades since the State of Israel was founded and was recognized by the world except for Arab countries, as Arabs, who is our real enemy today? Has Israel ever invaded Kuwait? Has it killed its citizens? No. Why does Kuwait consider Israel as an enemy while it deals with Iraq, that already invaded and occupied it, as a friend, brother and neighbor?
The bottom line is that Israel is not the Arabs’ enemy and Arab countries have to individually get rid of the Arab nation’s complex and make their own individual decisions independently.
Daniel Mandel—Still Blaming Israel First:
Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom declared that the Paris attacks are really about the war that entwines the Israelis and the Palestinians. Dutch Socialist Party leader Jan Marijnissen opined that the Paris terrorists’ behavior “eventually is connected also to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict” which he described as “the growth medium for such an attack.” The notion that the Arab war with Israel lies at the core of Middle Eastern problems now washing over Europe has been popular among the political class in all continents for years.
The idea is both nonsensical and tenaciously disproved by history: the Arab war on Israel had no bearing on the Algerian war in the 1950s; Egypt’s invasion of Yemen, the bloody emergence of the Ba’athist dictatorship in Iraq, or the Aden Emergency in the 1960s; the Libyan-Chad war or the Polisario war against Moroccan forces in Western Sahara in the 1970s; or the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, which claimed a million lives; or Iraq’s invasion and annexation of Kuwait in 1990.
Nor did it have any bearing on events that followed – like Saddam’s subsequent massacres of hundreds of thousands of Kurds and Shia, the Taliban seizure of most of Afghanistan, or the disintegration of Somalia. Events in post-Saddam Iraq and Syria have followed their own trajectory, unrelated to what Israelis and Palestinians say or do.
Those who insist on the centrality of this conflict to the world’s misfortunes are not making a credible assertion. Rather, they are availing themselves of an alibi for their own hostility to Israel’s existence. The writer is a Fellow in History at Melbourne University in Australia.
Col. (res.) Dr. Eran Lerman—How Palestinian Propaganda Warps the Truth and Undermines Peace Efforts:
- On Nov. 5, PA negotiator-in-chief Saeb Erekat’s office issued a media guidance document called “Key Points to Remember when Reporting on Occupied Palestine.” The document reveals just how far the Palestinian leadership is from accepting the premises necessary for true peace with Israel.
- The document says that “Israel imposes a policy of forced displacement of the indigenous Palestinian population and replacement with foreign settlers.” Whether or not the Palestinians are “indigenous” (there may be good reason to doubt that they have been there “from time immemorial”), Jews are certainly not “foreign” in their own land.
- Erekat alleges that the “colonization enterprise and illegal occupation” is the “root cause of the continuous uprisings of the Palestinian people.” “Colonization”? The League of Nations mandate authorized, indeed encouraged, Jews to settle in the land of their forefathers. The term “colonization” is an attempt to tar Israel with the brush of European colonialism.
- The Palestinians signed the Oslo Declaration of Principles, which made it very clear that full sovereignty, borders, and settlements are issues to be settled in “permanent status” talks. Palestinian attempts to now leap over this requirement for negotiations do not alter the fact that the path to independence through negotiations has very much been open to the Palestinians. Three times over the past decade the PA has rejected the compromises put on the table by Israel.
- To write that “Israel today continues to reject the two-state solution” is to pile lie and insult upon injury. It was Abbas who effectively rejected the U.S. framework proposals suggested in spring 2014 by Secretary of State John Kerry.
