October 21, 2015 SnyderTalk: Democratize the Temple Mount

1--Intro Covering Israel and ME

“For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My Name will be great among the Gentiles, and in every place incense is going to be offered to My Name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My Name will be great among the Gentiles,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. (Malachi 1: 11)

Michael Lumish—Democratize the Temple Mount:

It is unacceptable that Israel maintains prejudicial policies toward Jews at the holiest site to the Jewish people.

Benjamin Netanyahu keeps assuring Barack Obama, and the American Department of State, that Israel intends to maintain the status quo at the Temple Mount.

EOZ columnist, Vic Rosenthal, proprietor of Abu Yehuda, has a few thoughts on the matter.

But the bottom line is that the status quo in Israel toward Jews, and all non-Muslims, in the Old City, on the Temple Mount, is entirely prejudicial.  I am not a particularly religious person, but I am offended at the idea that only Muslims are allowed to pray on the holiest place to the Jewish people.

Israeli policy on this question is unethical and unjust toward Jewish people, toward all non-Muslims, and it must change.

It is, in fact, a policy grounded in al-Sharia because Moshe Dayan, who obviously should have known better, made a very big mistake.  But now this mistake needs to be corrected.

Understand this:

At one time all the religions in the Middle East were political in the sense that they were total social systems.

Throughout the great majority of human history there was no distinction between the dictates of the faith and any aspect of the life of the individual.  The same, of course, was true for Judaism and Christianity until the European Enlightenment of the 17th century.  Thankfully, both religions embraced the Separation of Church and State.

SnyderTalk Comment: Lumish is absolutely right about one thing: the government of Israel is prejudiced against non-Muslims where the Temple Mount is concerned.

The status quo on the Temple Mount that Palestinians insist is being changed boils down to this:

  • There are 11 gates to the Temple Mount. Non-Muslims are permitted access through only one of them: the Moroccan Gate, a.k.a. the Mugrabi Gate.  It’s a wooden tunnel that fits in with the beautiful surroundings like a Jiffy John.
  • If you are a non-Muslim, visiting hours for the Temple Mount vary depending on the season and other things, but by-and-large, this principle applies: you can choose to visit during a 3-hour window early in the morning or a 1-hour window later in the day 5 days a week. Friday and Saturday are out for non-Muslims.  There are no restrictions on Muslims.
  • You stand in a long line waiting to gain access. If “closing time” comes while you are in line, that’s tough.  You’ll have to come back later.
  • No matter what time of day you visit the Temple Mount, you see Muslims moving about like they own the place. They may be doing anything: playing soccer, conducting a “We hate Israel” rally, screaming “Allahu Akbar” when Jewish people walk by, or stocking Al-Aqsa mosque with weapons for use when Palestinian leaders give the word.
  • Be prepared to be searched. Muslims don’t want you to bring anything that might be construed as a weapon.  They reserve the right to arm themselves, though.
  • If you plan to take videos, don’t bring an external microphone. They won’t let you bring it to the Temple Mount.  I guess it looks too much like a weapon.
  • Non-Muslims are not allowed to pray on the Temple Mount. That’s laughable to people who know Yahweh because praying doesn’t require anything that can be observed.  Even so, don’t do anything that looks like praying.  That includes moving your lips without talking because it looks too much like silent prayer.  You can be arrested for that.

Lumish blames Moshe Dayan for the situation.  He was the commanding general who made the deal with the Muslim religious authorities in 1967 at the end of the Six-Day War when Israel took control of Jerusalem and the West Bank.

It’s true that Dayan delivered the message and he may have made the decision, but I doubt it.  Most likely, he was conveying a decision that was made by Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and his security cabinet.

Be that as it may, a deal was made, and it was a terrible deal.  As a result, non-Muslims are discriminated against on the Temple Mount, and the Israeli government allows it.

The Jewish state does discriminate against its own people.  It was an egregious error.

Democratizing the Temple Mount is not the solution, though.  Even so, I suspect that that’s where we are heading.

Yahweh will not share space with false gods.  I’m not guessing.  He made that perfectly clear many times.

Imagine Elijah meeting with the prophets of Baal and making a deal with them.  They can use Mount Carmel for worship and Friday and Jewish people can use it for worship on Saturday.

That’s ridiculous, but that’s what democratizing the Temple Mount amounts to.

No deal concerning the Temple Mount will last if it doesn’t satisfy Yahweh.  That will become obvious in due course.

No one has to incite or agitate to manufacture a crisis.  Yahweh will settle the matter Himself.

It won’t be pretty for non-believers.  They will be screaming, but they won’t be screaming “Allahu Akbar”.

See “John Kerry Says Temple Mount ‘Clarity’ Needed To Ease Violence” and “Why Kerry Keeps Blaming Israel”.

John Kerry has no idea who Yahweh is or what Yahweh expects.  Kerry is his own god.  In other words, he’s a fool.

There is a video that you need to watch.  It’s titled “Nazi Jihad”, and it’s produced by American Heroes Channel.  It costs $1.99, but you need to see it.  The URL is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAvFwlkBNvs.

The video presents evidence that the Nazis were planning to exterminate Jewish people in the Middle East on the urging of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Mohammed Effendi Amin el-Husseini.

If they could have done it then, they would have.  If they could do it today, they would.

Bret Stephens—Palestine: The Psychotic Stage:

If you’ve been following the news from Israel, you might have the impression that “violence” is killing a lot of people. As in this headline: “Palestinian Killed As Violence Continues.” Or this first paragraph: “Violence and bloodshed radiating outward from flash points in Jerusalem and the West Bank appear to be shifting gears and expanding, with Gaza increasingly drawn in.”

Read further, and you might also get a sense of who, according to Western media, is perpetrating “violence.” As in: “Two Palestinian Teenagers Shot by Israeli Police,” according to one headline. Or: “Israeli Retaliatory Strike in Gaza Kills Woman and Child, Palestinians Say,” according to another.

Such was the media’s way of describing two weeks of Palestinian assaults that began when Hamas killed a Jewish couple as they were driving with their four children in the northern West Bank. Two days later, a Palestinian teenager stabbed two Israelis to death in Jerusalem’s Old City, and also slashed a woman and a 2-year-old boy. Hours later, another knife-wielding Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli police after he slashed a 15-year-old Israeli boy in the chest and back.

Regarding the causes of this Palestinian blood fetish, Western news organizations have resorted to familiar tropes. Palestinians have despaired at the results of the peace process-never mind that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas just declared the Oslo Accords null and void. Israeli politicians want to allow Jews to pray atop the Temple Mount-never mind that Benjamin Netanyahu denies it and has barred Israeli politicians from visiting the site. There’s always the hoary “cycle of violence” formula that holds nobody and everybody accountable at one and the same time. Other Palestinian attacks include the stabbing of two elderly Israeli men and an assault with a vegetable peeler on a 14-year-old.

Michael Laitman—Who’s Behind the Situation in Israel?:

Whenever the Israeli-Palestinian conflict erupts in Israel, everyone offers advice, if not active intervention. Actually, even in quieter times everyone seems to be busy with the conflict in the Middle-East. In just the last few years, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in our neighboring countries, millions have been displaced, and entire nations have been brought to ruin. Yet, the UN dedicates far more time to discuss the Mid-East conflict (and condemn Israel) than it dedicates to discuss all the crises in the world, combined. So really, what, or who is behind the situation in Israel, and what can possibly be the solution to it?

The Middle-East conflict is not about territory. It is an ideological conflict. Perhaps there are practical reasons playing their part behind the scenes, but when viewed from a broader perspective that is based on Israel’s ancient sources, the terror unfolding in the state of Israel is a direct result of neglecting the relationships between us–the people of Israel. We can stop the terror if we get to work on building a society where we are all responsible for one another and treat each other well. A scrutiny into the sources of the wisdom of Kabbalah indicates that the law of nature dictates that we do just that.

Al JazeeraAnalysis: Pax Russica in the Middle East? Not so fast:

Russia’s recent entry into the Syrian war theatre, with all guns blazing, has spurred speculation that it may mark the beginning of the end of the decades-old US hegemony over the Middle East region.

Of course, there are those who dispute the very idea of a Pax Americana in view of Washington’s failure to install democracy, economic prosperity and human rights in the Arab world over the years since the first wave of “revolutions” in the 1950s. Aside from keeping regional behemoth Iran in check through crippling economic sanctions since 1979, Washington’s policies only served – until 2011 – to keep dictators locked in place in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen, to name a few.

Still, post-Arab Spring developments, including the war in Syria and the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), have challenged this order in more fundamental ways than the much-touted season of popular uprisings.

Russia’s decision to step into the war in Syria – in defense of Bashar al-Assad – has been called everything from “a game changer” to “unconscionable”. But talk of an imminent Pax Russica may be premature.

Lawrence Pintak—A chessboard Middle East: Russia’s pawn is Syria and U.S. is in a stalemate:

MODERN Syria is dead. Russia’s intervention into the bloody four-year conflict cements that reality. Now U.S. policymakers must plan for what comes next. And it’s not pretty.

Officially, the Russians say they entered Syria to fight the radical Islamic State. But they come at the invitation of Syria’s besieged president, Bashar al-Assad, and Russian bombing runs targeting U.S.-backed rebel forces underscore the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention is really about propping up the Assad regime, Moscow’s only ally in the region.

That pits Washington, D.C., and Moscow in a proxy war reminiscent of conflicts in Southeast Asia and Africa during the Cold War, and it limits the West’s military options in supporting the anti-Assad rebellion and forcing Assad to step down.

All of this effectively means modern Syria has been relegated to the history books. The country has splintered and no amount of diplomatic duct tape is ever going to lash it back together again. The idea that Assad might still be convinced to step down and that all factions will come together and sing Kumbaya is a fantasy.

Turkish WeeklyMedvedev says Russia not defending Assad:

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has rejected charges that Russia is defending Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In an interview with Russian state television on October 17, Medvedev said Russia was defending its “national interests” with its military operations in Syria on the basis of a “request from the lawful authorities” of that country.

Medvedev added that the matter of who will lead Syria “should be decided by the Syrian people.” He said the only thing that mattered to Moscow is that “we don’t want IS to head Syria.”

Moscow says its air strikes in Syria have exclusively targeted the Islamic State (IS) group, while the United States and other countries say they are aimed at bolstering Assad’s government by targeting his domestic opponents.

Medvedev also criticized the United States for refusing to receive a Russian delegation that would have been headed by the prime minister for discussions on Syria.

“I think this is stupid behavior,” he said, that demonstrated U.S. “weakness.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Of course, Russia is defending Assad, and of course, the U.S. refusing to meet with the Russian delegation was stupid.

Why meet with Iran and not meet with Russia?  It makes no sense.

Nothing about Obama’s foreign or domestic policies make any sense.

See “‘Assad must go’: These 3 little words are huge obstacle for Obama on Syria”.

I know that a lot of people think Obama is smart.  I’m not one of them.

To me, Obama is a perfect example of a bad Affirmative Action hire.

Reuters—Muslims condemn Britain’s plans to combat extremism:

British Prime Minister David Cameron unveiled a new strategy on Monday to combat extremism, saying the battle was “perhaps the “defining one of this century”, but his proposals were condemned by Muslims as demonizing their communities and set to fail.

The Counter-Extremism Strategy has been promised by Cameron’s government for months, designed primarily to counter the ideology promoted by Islamic State militants, al Qaeda and other Islamists which the authorities say can lead young Britons onto a path of violence.

“Subversive, well-organized and sophisticated in their methods, Islamist extremists don’t just threaten our security, they jeopardize all that we’ve built together – our successful multi-racial, multi-faith democracy,” Cameron wrote on his Facebook website.

“So we have to confront them wherever we find them.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Their condemnation speaks volumes.  In response, the Brits should say, “We’re going to redouble our efforts.”

Faisal Al Yafai—Does America still want a role in the Middle East?:

Henry Kissinger, America’s realist-in-chief, has inserted himself into the expanding civil war in Syria with an essay in The Wall Street Journalarguing that the US needs a new strategy in the region.

That, at least, is undeniable. The Syrian civil war has exposed how dangerous America’s hands-off and piecemeal approach to the Middle East is – not merely for the Arabs, of course, but for Europe as well.

Mr Kissinger’s essential point in the essay is that the fate of ISIL matters more to America’s interests in the region than any other element of the geopolitical jigsaw.

The way Mr Kissinger reads the tea-leaves, Bashar Al Assad can stay in (some form of) power in Syria, Iran can continue to exert force across the region (as long as it does so through conventional arms, not assymetric power), and Russia can continue to bomb Syrians (and even squat on Syrian land, as long as it is land vacated from ISIL).

In other words, everything that has already occurred or is likely to occur can still be part of America’s “plan”. That includes everything the US has been powerless to stop up until now.

Bassam Tawil—ISIS Fires Up Palestinians:

  • The current wave of stabbings of Jews in Israel is an attempt to imitate Islamic State terrorists, who have been using knives to behead many Muslims and non-Muslims. In most attacks, the Palestinian terrorists focused on the victims’ throats and necks. They are trying to replace Islamic State jihadis as the chief “butchers” of humans in the Middle East.
  • How can our leaders in Ramallah accuse Jews of “contaminating” the Aqsa Mosque with their “filthy feet” at a time when our youths burn a religious site such as Joseph’s Tomb? Palestinian Authority security forces, which maintain a tight grip on Nablus, did nothing to prevent the arson attack.
  • The attacks are an attempt to erase history so that Jews will not be able to claim any religious ties to the land. This is exactly what the Islamic State is doing in Syria and Iraq.
  • Mahmoud Abbas and other Palestinian leaders are lying. This is not a struggle against “occupation” or a wall or a checkpoint. This is an Islamic State-inspired jihad to slaughter Jews and wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

Shoshana Bryen—Middle East Peace Process: Oh No, Not Again!:

  • The Palestinians seek three things: A) Creation of an independent state without recognizing a legitimate and permanent State of Israel in any territory. B) Sovereign control of East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. C) The right of entry for all remaining 1948/9 Arab refugees from Britain’s Mandatory Palestine, and for their descendants, to any place within pre-1967 Israel in which they, or their antecedents had lived.
  • Israel seeks three different things: A) Recognition of the legitimacy and permanence of Israel within finalized “secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force.” This is the security promise of UN Resolution 242 to which Israel is entitled. B) The capital of Israel in Jerusalem and Israeli protection for Jewish patrimony in Eastern Jerusalem. C) “End of conflict; end of claims.” After an agreement, the Palestinians will not be able to press additional claims against Israel for territory or other “rights.”
  • For the Obama administration now to pursue a Palestinian state…would likely be seen by both sides as nothing more than a shiny new distraction for the benefit of the U.S. negotiators’ vanity, nothing more.

SnyderTalk Comment: We haven’t gotten over the last peace initiative.  Please, give us a break.

Ishaan Tharoor—Is China scared of the Magna Carta?:

This year marked the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the “great charter” drafted in 1215 by a group of a rebellious English barons grumpy with their king. As WorldViews observed earlier this year, the Magna Carta — a set of edicts penned in Latin on sheepskin — is seen as a foundational text of the English nation, considered by some to be one of the first articulations of the rights of the individual and a template for modern constitutions and international conventions.

To celebrate the document’s eighth centennial, the British government has taken the Magna Carta on an international tour. But there was an unexpected hiccup in China.

A 1217 version of the Magna Carta was supposed to go on view this week in Beijing’s Renmin University. But Chinese authorities apparently blocked its appearance there; the document went on display instead in the house of the British ambassador to a very limited number of guests.

An official with the British foreign office said the decision was made “based on administrative and logistical practicalities.”

Jonathan Tobin—Mr. President: Too Much Balance Leads to Violence:

On Friday, President Obama once again demonstrated his tone-deaf approach to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.

At a press conference, he spoke of the solution to the current tensions would come only when the leaders of both sides “tamp down rhetoric that may feed violence or anger or misunderstanding.”

But, of course, the incitement to violence isn’t coming from both sides. It’s coming solely from a Palestinian leadership and official media that continues to spread lies about Israelis seeking to harm the mosques on the Temple Mount and treating those who seek to murder Jews as “our boys” that are being “executed” by Israeli forces. This was a week in which the administration had to dance around comments by Secretary of State John Kerry about settlements causing the violence and State Department spokesman John Kirby echoed Palestinian canards about Israel using “excessive force” against terrorists.

SnyderTalk Comment: And Obama said, “To hell with the facts.  I have an opinion.”
