1--Intro Covering Israel and ME

“For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My Name will be great among the Gentiles, and in every place incense is going to be offered to My Name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My Name will be great among the Gentiles,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. (Malachi 1: 11)

Excessive Devotion to Wealth Creation Can Cost You Your Soul

We are living through a time when accumulation of wealth is the be-all and end-all for large numbers of people.  Yahweh doesn’t have a problem with wealth per se, but He does have a problem with it when wealth creation becomes your principle reason for being.

I talked about this problem in my book What Will You Do with the Rest of Your Life?  In the book, I go through the process of growing your assets so that you and your family are financially secure without stepping over the line where your wealth controls you.

History is loaded with examples of people who did just that.  Andrew Carnegie is one of them.  He made that mistake even though he knew it was leading him in the wrong direction.  I explained his situation in a section of the book titled “In the End, God Always Wins”:

Andrew Carnegie was an American industrialist who lived from 1835 to 1919.  The firm he created, Carnegie Steel, was the predecessor of today’s United States Steel Corporation.  When he sold Carnegie Steel to J.P. Morgan in 1900 for $480 million, Andrew Carnegie became the richest man in the world.  His fortune at that time in inflation adjusted dollars exceeded that of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet today.

Carnegie is known as one of the “robber barons” of the U.S. industrial era because of the ruthless tactics he used and because he held costs down by forcing his employees to work very long hours for low wages.  His reputation as a businessman was scarred permanently during the Homestead Strike of 1892 when he threw his support behind his plant manager who had hired “Pinkerton thugs” to squelch the strike.  There was an altercation between the Pinkerton men and the strikers, and many strikers were killed.

Interestingly, at age 33 (24 years before the Homestead strike) Carnegie wrote a letter to himself.  In it he said,

“To continue much longer overwhelmed by business cares and with most of my thoughts wholly upon the way to make more money in the shortest time, must degrade me beyond hope of permanent recovery.  I will resign business at thirty-five, but during the ensuing two years I wish to spend the afternoons in receiving instruction and in reading systematically.”

Carnegie didn’t end his business career at age 35.  Instead, he poured all of his time, talent, energy, and resources into it, and as I said, he ended up becoming the richest man in the world.  Also, that which he feared came upon him.  His actions during the Homestead Strike degraded his reputation beyond recovery.

In the later years of his life, Carnegie gave away almost all of his wealth to build and stock public libraries many of which still carry his name today.  The Carnegie Foundation that he created is active even now, and it supports a myriad of philanthropic causes around the world.  I don’t know if Carnegie ever came to know God.  I hope he did, but whether he did or not, the wealth he spent his life to build ended up under the control of other people whose agendas are very different than the one he followed.

In the book of Proverbs, King Solomon made this observation: “…the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.” (Proverbs 13: 22)  In the end, God always wins.  The wealth you create will eventually be used to advance His agenda, whether you like it or not.  No matter how hard you try, you can’t prevent God from eventually gaining access to and control of your fortune.  Why fight Him?  Accept God’s sovereignty as a fact; devote your time, talent, energy, and resources to Him; and enjoy the rewards of being on the winning team.

Paul explained the problem this way: “For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (1 Timothy 6: 10)

Some people call it “living the American dream”.  Regrettably, for many Americans, that’s what the American dream has become.

Please do not let it happen to you because excessive devotion to wealth creation can cost you your soul.

Sean Savage—Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked Talks Temple Mount, Iran, UN, Henkin Murders (INTERVIEW):

In the midst of what seemed like a perfect storm of major Jewish and Israel news stories this week, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked — a 39-year-old rising star in Israeli politics — had no shortage of talking points for both a speaking engagement before members of Boston’s Jewish community and an interview with JNS.org.

In a wide-ranging talk on Thursday that was organized by Isaac Kohane, a neuroscience professor at Harvard University, Shaked answered the audience’s questions on everything from the Iran nuclear deal to the battle over the Israeli Supreme Court to women’s rights in Israel.

But the topic that was freshest in everyone’s mind was clearly that day’s Palestinian terrorist attack in Samaria, in which the armed wing of Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party murdered Israelis Eitam and Na’ama Henkin (both in their 30s) in a drive-by shooting in front of the couple’s four children, who all survived.

Jerusalem Post Editorial—Hysterics on the Temple Mount:

Knesset Member Jamal Zahalka hurled abuse at Jewish visitors and police on the Temple Mount last week during the Sukkot festival. He positioned himself at the Mugrabi Gate – the only one through which non-Muslims may enter. No sooner were Jews allowed in than he accosted the visitors and screamed, “Get out of here! You have no place here!” Zahalka’s stirring defense of exclusive Muslim rights on the Mount and his anti-Jewish outbursts do a colossal disservice to Israel’s Arab population. Israeli Arabs’ inherent interests hinge on integration and not segregation.

Arab politicians who exploit Israeli democracy to undermine Israel do not further the cause of coexistence. They intentionally create a vicious cycle whereby they radicalize the Arab sector, turn pugnacious propaganda into a vote-getting ploy and thus generate further radicalization. This is the last thing this country’s Arabs need. They live in the Middle East’s freest and most thriving state. Deprecating and delegitimizing it, while promulgating seditious agendas for its obliteration, is hardly conducive to building bridges.

Dr. Reuven Berko—Despair, incitement and hatred:

Recently, we have witnessed a wave of solitary terrorists carrying out stabbing and ramming attacks against Jews. The intelligence term for these attackers is “lone wolves.” They present a complicated challenge for the defense establishment when it comes to prevention: The majority of them do not belong to a specific, hierarchical organization that could provide some sort of advanced clue for intelligence to pick up on, and they tend to appear on the scene in surprising ways.

It turns out that some of these terrorists, who accessed social media sites, expressed themselves prior to attacking in a way that betrayed their intentions, while venting about despair from personal, family or national situations. Others tended toward Palestinian nationalistic or intense Islamic propaganda as members on Islamic incitement and indoctrination sites, with some revealing in their posts signs of depression and thoughts of suicide as a way out. Still, many others who match these criteria did not attack anyone, and so monitoring this kind of activity is not simple.

Bassam Tawil—First Step to Resolve the Palestinian Problem: Eliminate UNRWA: Part One

At the beginning of August 2015, officials at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced they would be forced to make significant spending cuts because of a $101 million budget deficit.

Adnan Abu Hasna, an UNRWA spokesman, claimed on Al-Jazeera at the beginning of August that the cut would make it difficult to fulfill UNRWA’s mission, despite the deficit being only 17% of the agency’s total budget.

Abu Hasna protested that UNRWA functioned to resolve the problem of the Palestinian refugees. UNRWA, he claimed, symbolically embodied the international community’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and the return to Palestine.

Leo Hohmann—Obama’s U.N. Plan: Globalize Cops Against ‘Violent Extremists’: Conservative Christians ‘becoming the targets’:

President Obama’s new “Strong Cities Network,” announced with little fanfare last week at the United Nations, appears to be another effort to strip authority from local police departments and to demonize conservative Christians, say advocates of civil and religious liberties.

The stated goal of the program is to connect local police departments with their peers around the world in an effort to combat “violent extremism,” according to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who announced the program to the U.N. on Sept. 30.

Lynch, with New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio by her side, told world leaders that the time has come for a more globalized and comprehensive effort to combat violent extremism. She said:

“Until now, we have lacked that mechanism. We haven’t had the benefit of sustained or coordinated cooperation among the growing number of cities and municipalities that are confronting this ongoing challenge. Communities have too often been left isolated and alone. But through the Strong Cities Network that we have unveiled today, we are making the first systematic effort in history to bring together cities around the world to share experiences, to pool resources and to forge partnerships in order to build local cohesion and resilience on a global scale. Today we tell every city, every town and every community that has lost the flower of its youth to a sea of hatred – you are not alone. We stand together and we stand with you.”

SnyderTalk Comment: You can’t deny that violent extremists are a real problem for the world right now.  They happen to be Islamist terrorists.

The problem with Obama and people like him is that they think Christianity is the problem.

Some will argue that that is a stretch.  I think it’s right on target.

What do you call legalizing sodomy?  What do you call pushing hard to protect the “right” of a woman to commit premeditated murder with impunity?

If those are not examples of attacks on Christianity, I don’t know what is.

Regardless of what you believe, it would behoove all of us to pay attention to what is happening.  There are plenty of dots, and they can be connected.

CBS News—Ben Carson defends comments about Oregon shooting:

Ben Carson refused to back away from his controversial remarks on mass shootings that lit up the gun control debate this week. The GOP presidential candidate argued that everyone should attack a massive shooter and he would sacrifice his life if he were face-to-face with a gunman. He said he’d rather see a body with bullet holes over gun control.

“I want to plant in people’s minds what to do in a situation like this because unfortunately this is probably not going to be the last time this happens,” he said in an interview on “CBS This Morning.”

Less than a week after the mass shooting on the Umpqua Community College campus in Oregon, presidential candidates have been addressing gun control and mental health issues. But Carson’s latest comments defending the right to bear arms may be the most controversial, reports CBS News correspondent Julianna Goldman.

“I would ask everybody to attack the gunman because he can only shoot one of us at a time. That way, we don’t all wind up dead,” he told ABC News while chuckling on Tuesday.

Elisa Oddone and Alisa Reznick—Refugee Camps Empty as Syrians Head for Europe:

In early 2012, it was an anonymous patch of desert in the north of Jordan but by the end of 2013, it was a city of 156,000 Syrian refugees, the fourth biggest population center in the country.

Now it has shrunk to almost one third of its former size as Syrians desperate for a better future migrate to other parts of the Middle East or attempt the dangerous journey to Europe.

For those who made a successful business amid the despair, depopulation has hit them hard. Shadi Arour, a refugee from the southern Syrian city of Daraa says his business, which sells candies, nuts and cigarettes, has fallen by 75% in the last two years. “Before there was movement, people, now we stop during the week, people only buy tea and cigarettes, and the only traffic is on Fridays. Almost one out of two shops has closed,” he says.

Conrad Black—Toward a Post-Obama Middle East:

In the week in which the Russians escalated their attacks on the Syrian factions being assisted by the United States and what is left of the Western Alliance, and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas renounced the long-dead letter of the Oslo Agreement (for which his predecessor Yasser Arafat and the Israeli leaders Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres shared a Nobel Peace Prize, and which the Palestinians have never honored), and as our NATO ally Turkey assisted the dementedly violent Islamic State (ISIS), which the rest of NATO opposes, at least verbally, there must be someone in the White House — apart from janitors and the Marines who open the doors for invited visitors – who senses the tattered state of American policy in the region. The bipartisan wall of steel, from George W. Bush to Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama, vociferously supported by the British and French leaders of the time, that swore that Iran would be prevented from achieving nuclear weapons whatever happened, gradually metamorphosed into the facilitation of a militarily nuclear Iran in ten years, if the Iranians, in their own free determination of their interest, choose to wait that long. President Jimmy Carter, another Nobel Prize winner, was instrumental in replacing the shah with the ayatollahs in Iran in 1978; he has lived long enough to see the bitter fruit of what he helped to sow.

Leo Hohmann—Scary math: Illegals are Hillary’s ace in the hole:

Could illegal immigrants and refugees help put Hillary Clinton in the White House next year?

Yes, because the nation’s Electoral College system is tailor-made for Democrats when combined with the mass immigration policies of the last 45 years.

Unprecedented numbers of immigrants – both legal and illegal – have been pouring into the United States since the former Sen. Teddy Kennedy rewrote the nation’s immigration laws with the landmark Immigration Act of 1965. The nation’s immigrant population – legal and illegal – swelled to a record 42.4 million in July of 2013, an increase of 2.4 million since July of 2010. The 42.4 million is double the number in 1990, triple the number in 1980 and quadruple the number in 1970, according to Census data.

This unprecedented influx is having a profound effect not only on how many seats each state gets allotted in Congress but also on the election every four years of the president, according to demographers.

SnyderTalk Comment: Illegal immigration is having the desired effect on elections in the U.S.—according the Democrats.

They may be illegal, but they get medical care, welfare, child support, etc., etc., etc.  Best of all from the Democrat perspective, they vote.

They may be illegal and they can’t vote legally, but many of them do.

This should be obvious, but it’s not.  Illegals don’t have a problem with breaking the law.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Democrats have kept masses of African Americans on their plantation by paying them for their votes in the form of welfare support of all sorts.  They are trying to put illegal immigrants on their plantation the same way.

That’s why voter identification is a closely related problem.  You must produce proof of your birth to obtain a driving license.  If you have not moved from one state to another in a while, you are in for a treat if you do.

To set up residence in another state, you will have to run the gauntlet.  It may take you several days to complete the process.  At each stop along the way, you will have to produce evidence that you are who you way you are.  Picture IDs are a must.

You need a picture ID to drive, to cash a check including a welfare check, etc., etc., etc.  No voting age person in the U.S. should have a problem producing a picture ID.

So, why are Democrats vehemently opposed to requiring IDs for voting especially since virtually everyone has one?

The answer should be obvious.

If the answer isn’t obvious, you must be a Democrat.

Paul Greenberg—Dangerous road ahead:

There is a time, as Ecclesiastes reminds us, to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to be silent and a time to mend, a time for war and a time for peace … and now is a time to stop denying that America, and the West in general, has suffered a strategic defeat. For all signs indicate that this feckless administration’s nuclear deal with the mullahs in Tehranis already undermining this country’s security and the world’s peace. The question for those of us who believe in freedom is no longer how we can derail this dangerous deal, but what we propose to do about it as it takes effect.

Yes, there was a time when an aggressive regime backed by a couple of world powers, Russia and Communist China, could be forced to disgorge its conquest — by military or diplomatic means or both. But that was years ago (1991) when it was Kuwait that had been occupied by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, and the United States had a different president (George H.W. Bush) and a different and savvier secretary of state (James Baker). It was a time when this country meant business — and not just business with dictators. “George,” Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady herself, told that American president, “this is no time to go wobbly.” And he didn’t.

Barry Shaw—The Palestinians’ New Intifada:

  • “I saw a mob of 40 to 50 masked Palestinians on the side of the road. They were holding rocks and cinder blocks. … I have no doubt that I would be dead now if I hadn’t used my gun. They were going to kill me.” – Josh Hasten, Oct. 7, 2015.
  • Arab children watch other Arab children on television throw rocks and firebombs, and speaking of knifing and shooting Jews, and they want a part of the action.
  • When Arabs hear from their leaders that Jews are “desecrating” Islamic holy places with their “filthy feet” and plotting to destroy them, it is a code, telling them to go out and attack Jews.

Udi Dekel and Zvi Magen—Russian Involvement in Syria: What has Changed, and the Significance for Israel:

Russia’s involvement in the Syrian crisis constitutes a new strategic paradigm in the Middle East and the international arena. This will have significant implications for the balance of power and the rivalries in Syria’s civil war, and for the struggle between the superpowers for global influence. Israel is also affected by these implications, given the change in the balance of power and given the risk of internal Syrian pressures spilling over into southern Syria and the Golan Heights. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent hurried visit to Moscow precluded the possibility of an in-depth situation assessment that examines the broad ramifications of Russian involvement in Syria. This assessment is supposed to test whether there has been a change in the rules of the game in the deep crisis that seemingly has no way out. The Prime Minister must now strive for Russian recognition of Israel’s interests, among them the need to prevent the establishment of Salafi jihadi terrorist elements in the Golan Heights border region. Israel must also prepare for the possibility of Russian military entanglement in Syria, which would bring about a significant reinforcement of the Russian military presence and aid to Assad, Iran, and Hizbollah – even though at the present time, it is not Russia’s intention to challenge Israel.

Aaron Klein—Chinese navy looms as Russia strikes Syria:

As Russia’s Caspian Sea fleet launched precision-guided cruise missiles at Syrian rebel positions, a Chinese naval vessel continued to loom menacingly in the background, maintaining its presence in the Mediterranean Sea amid Chinese denials that the People’s Liberation Army will enter the Syrian conflict.

A Middle Eastern defense official affirmed the Chinese military ship is located a short trip of several “hours” from the Syrian coast. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that while China’s intentions are unclear, the vessel’s presence is well known to Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf countries as well as to the U.S. and Russia.

The official said that China is reluctant to directly intervene in Syria or approach Syrian waters unless the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad formally requests the assistance of Chinese military advisers.

Even then, China may only take on an advisory role and not carry out military missions alongside the Russians and Syrians, the official said.

House Republicans Create Special Committee To Harass Planned Parenthood

SnyderTalk Comment: Planned Parenthood is in the murder for hire business.  It gets money from our federal government to perform its gruesome task.  It sells parts of the babies it murders to raise more money.

Jennifer Bendery sees the House committee investigation as an attempt to harass Planned Parenthood because it’s being led by Republicans who control the House.

This isn’t about Republicans vs. Democrats.  It’s not about liberal vs. conservative.  It’s about right vs. wrong.

People should be charged with crimes including murder, but Bendery thinks that merely investigating what they do is going too far.

We could stop this ongoing butchery if we had the political will.  All we need to do is elect people who will call abortion what it is and change our laws.  Because we haven’t, we are culpable.

Yahweh warned the Children of Israel not to worship any false deity, but He singled out Molech several times. Even so, some of them would sacrifice their children to Molech by burning them alive on altars in the Hinnom Valley beside Jerusalem.

More than 99% of the time, abortion is sacrificing unborn children to the god of self-indulgence.  Sacrificing children to Molech was no different.
