Daniel Eisenbud—Rare 3000-year-old King David era seal discovered by Temple Mount Sifting Project:

A rare 3000-year-old seal, dating back to the periods of Kings David and Solomon in the tenth century BCE, was recently discovered by a 10-year-old Russian volunteer at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount Sifting Project.

Dr. Gabriel Barkay, co-founder and director of the project – which sifts through thousands of tons of illegally removed earth from the contested holy site in 1999 by the Wakf Muslim religious to build a mosque – said that the finding is unprecedented.

“The seal is the first of its kind to be found in Jerusalem,” said Barkay, a world-renowned archaeologist and Israel Prize laureate, who has led the project for over 10 years.

“The dating of the seal corresponds to the historical period of the Jebusites and the conquest of Jerusalem by King David, as well as the construction of the Temple and the royal official compound by his son, King Solomon.”

“What makes this discovery particularly significant,” Barkay continued, “is that it originated from upon the Temple Mount itself.”

The seal – discovered by Matvei Tcepliaev, a Russian 10-year-old boy who volunteered at the Temple Mount Sifting Project – was only recently deciphered by archaeologists, he said. According to Barkay, since the project’s inception in 2004, more than 170,000 volunteers from Israel and around the world have taken part in the sifting.

SnyderTalk Comment: So-called “Palestinians” have been telling the world that there is no connection between the Jewish people and Israel, Jerusalem, or the Temple Mount.  That claim is absurd, because there is so much historical data that refutes it.

Archeological excavations throughout Israel and especially in Jerusalem are proving that what the Bible says is fact, not fiction.  Anyone who visits Israel can go to the City of David and see Biblical Jerusalem.

Mountains of verifiable facts keep piling up to support the Bible, but “Palestinians” keep on lying.  They’re really good at that.

So, why does most of the world reject the facts and support the lies?

They are following the father of lies.  He is their god.

Don’t expect End of Days events to unfold the way you think, because they won’t.  Leave plenty of room for Yahweh and follow His leading.  That’s the only safe course.

He is Yahweh Yireh.  That means Yahweh will provide.  He will provide everything we need even during difficult times.  That’s His job, and He’s good at it.

Have faith.  Be bold.  Follow Him.

Jeremy Rosen: What Does a Google Search Really Tell Us About God?— It’s a sign of our times that the New York Times can devote a serious op-ed to the fact that God is in decline because He, She, or It is being “Googled” less than in previous years. According to the author, pornography searches are up 83%, heroin is up 32%, and churches are down 15%. The top Google search that includes God is a video game called “God of War”.

SnyderTalk Comment: Yahweh isn’t in decline.  He’s separating the wheat from the chaff.

Nir Har-Zahav: German Reporter Reveals ISIS Plans ‘Nuclear Tsunami’— A veteran German journalist who became the first to gain access as an embedded reporter with Islamic State (ISIS) revealed the jihadist terrorgroup plans to bring nuclear annihilation across the globe. The journalist, Jurgen Todenhofer (75), released his findings in a bookcalled “Inside IS – Ten Days in the Islamic State,” reports the UK’s Daily Express on Friday. Todenhofer, who previously was an MP in German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU party before turning to journalism in 2000 as a war reporter, spent ten days with ISIS. He was overseen during his visit by “Jihadi John,” the ISIS terrorist from the UK named Mohammed Emwazi who gained fame in gruesome beheading videos. According to the journalist, the West is unprepared for ISIS. He writes that “the terrorists plan on killing several hundred million people. The west is drastically underestimating the power of ISIS.”

Ali Alfoneh and Reuel Marc Gerecht: Our Iranian Interlocutor—Ali Khamenei’s dark obsession with Jews and Israel— Antisemitism has never been an easy subject for America’s foreign-policy establishment. Read through State Department telegrams and Central Intelligence Agency operational and intelligence cables on the Middle East and you will seldom find it discussed, even though Jew-hatred—not just anti-Zionism—has been a significant aspect, if not a core component, of modern Arab nationalism, Islamic fundamentalism, and what usually passes for critical thought among sophisticated Arab elites. Western scholars, too, generally avoid the subject. The Israeli-Palestinian imbroglio is an omnipresent and divisive issue in the academy, and academics who might be inclined to explore antisemitism among Muslims could risk their reputation among colleagues who view such study as tendentious, even bigoted. And those with the languages to appreciate this distemper are often inclined to downplay its importance precisely because of its commonness. The threshold for what constitutes shocking Jew-hatred, as opposed to routine hostility, has gotten pretty high in the Middle East in part because Western leftist sympathy for Israel has been declining. Middle Eastern intellectuals are still influenced by the preferences and vicissitudes of the European left. However, former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s exuberant, Holocaust-denying antisemitism crossed the line. He played a not insignificant part in changing the atmospherics about Iran within Europe by amplifying elite European fear that Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu might strike Tehran’s atomic program. The European oil embargo, designed to punish the clerical regime for its nuclear aspirations—the single most forceful diplomatic action ever by the European Union—rose up in the summer of 2012 in Ahmadinejad’s antisemitic wake.

SnyderTalk Comment: Trusting Iran is dangerous.  See “Report: Army Chief Says Iran ‘Eager’ to Wipe Out Israel Sooner Than Khamenei’s 25-Year Assessment”.

Ben Caspit: Israel Fears Return of Persian Empire— A high-ranking IDF officer warned this week of the dangers faced by Israel from the developing radical Shiite axis:

  • “When I compare the Sunni radical axis with the Shiite one, it’s clear to me who’s most dangerous. With all due respect to Islamic State achievements, the Sunni threat is along the lines of ‘more of the same.’ It’s something we are familiar with. But the Shiite axis, on the other hand, is based on Iran. We are talking about a regional power that dominates 25% of the world’s natural gas reserves and 11% of its petroleum reserves. It has tremendous human capital, high capabilities in science, technology, infrastructure, operational abilities, cyber developments.”
  • “Iran, Iraq, Syria, Hizbullah and now also Russia are closing ranks against the Sunni axis – including, to our stupefaction, even an international coalition headed by the United States – and this should worry us. Do we want Iran sitting on our doorstep? Do we want Iran, a country that de facto rules Iraq, Syria and Lebanon and enjoys Russian backup, to win in this confrontation? A country that maintains its standing as a nuclear-threshold state?”
  • With regard to Russian involvement, the officer noted, “This development is very bad for Israel; it significantly strengthens the radical Shiite axis. The Russians aren’t really interested in the Shiites. What they want is to rein in the Sunni awakening that is gushing through the Caucusus. They are embroiled in Dagestan; in Chechnya, they want to halt the Sunni wave that threatens them, thus they are taking action in Syria.”
  • Asked whether he was equally concerned about the Sunni axis, mainly the Islamic State, the officer answered, “No. Although it’s true that the Sunni axis has scored startling achievements, they are totally isolated and not supported by any significant external power. They are facing off alone against the radical Shiite deployment that is supported by a regional power like Iran, a world power like Russia and an international aerial coalition headed by the United States.”
  • “History proves that large empires coming from the East never bring good tidings to the Jewish people. What we are witnessing now is the return of the Persian Empire. The nuclear agreement between Iran and the West…allows Iran to become an empire and increase its activities and influence throughout the Middle East. From our perspective, this is bad news indeed.”
  • “The Iranian adversary does not resemble any foe we have yet faced, on any scale of magnitude. The Persian civilization is much more impressive, developed and powerful than what we have today among the Arab countries. All this should worry us a lot.”

Conservative Tribune: Did Muslim Police Chief of Dearborn, Mich. Announce He’ll Enforce Shariah on Christians?—…This isn’t the first time Shariah law has raised its ugly head in the Michigan city, and it’s not the first time the police chief and his deputy chief have come under fire for seemingly enforcing shariah law. The city arrested Christians for street preaching during a fair in the city and also refused to protect Christians who were being assaulted. Given the police chief’s history, it’s alarming that he would make these kinds of comments without clarifying exactly what he is enforcing and why. In other words, if there are no sinister motives, he should say so.

Bassam Tawil: Palestinians: We Are the New Nazis— A Palestinian TV talk show host is facing strong condemnations and threats for hosting an Israeli Jewish singer who is extremely popular among Palestinian youths. The condemnations expose the ugly face of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS), whose followers are vehemently opposed to any form of “normalization” between Palestinians and Israelis. The BDS activists are demanding that those who brought the singer, Zvi Yehezkel, to the TV show in Ramallah be punished. The activists do not even seem to care that the singer supports peace between Israel and the Palestinians. They are more bothered by the fact that a Palestinian TV station in Ramallah dared to invite a Jew to an interview. The BDS activists are also not ashamed to expose their anti-Semitism by expressing their outrage over the fact that Yehezkel is an observant Jew wearing a skullcap.

SnyderTalk Comment: Apartheid in Israel that Palestinians like to complain about is a blatant lie, but apartheid in the West Bank and Gaza where they are in control is in full swing.

Things are not what they seem.  People who are foolish and ignorant don’t get it, but there are so many of them.

Wake up America.

Edith Lederer: Patronage and paralysis: UN marks 70 ineffective years— The worsening war in Syria, allegations of child sexual abuse by UN peacekeepers and the mishandling of the Ebola epidemic cast a spotlight on the inadequacies of the United Nations in a globalized world, operating with a power structure that hasn’t changed since 1945. With age, the organization has grown bloated, say many who know it well. It is also underfunded and overwhelmed by the tasks it faces. The world body is trying to deal with almost 60 million global refugees, displaced people and asylum seekers — the greatest number since World War II. It is seeking to provide emergency supplies to keep 100 million people alive but has received less than 30 percent of the $20 billion it needs this year.

SnyderTalk Comment: As Walter Cronkite used to say, “And that’s the way it is.”

Herb Keinon: Israel: World Needs to See Through Abbas’ “Charade”—The international community should end the “charade” whereby PA President Mahmoud Abbas refuses to negotiate with Israel, deliberately creates a crisis, adds to the crisis through inflammatory rhetoric, and then pleads to the world to “save us,” a senior government official said on Wednesday night. He said the world should finally hold Abbas “accountable” for his behavior. Abbas “has been using terrible language, inciting language that is encouraging violence,” the official said. “I think that European governments that are all too quick to criticize Israel should be passing a message on to Abbas and asking if he is doing everything he can to calm things down.” Leaders in the Arab and Islamic world who talk about a supposed threat to the Aksa Mosque are “simply conducting incitement,” the official added. “There is no such threat. The Israeli government has reiterated over and over that the status quo will be scrupulously upheld.”

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz: The Temple Mount is in danger— Over 80 years ago, even before the establishment of the State of Israel and the return of Jewish sovereignty to the Temple Mount, the Muslim mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, began to spread lies about Jews trying to harm the Aqsa Mosque. Since then, this evil, false accusation has led to the deaths of many Jews and Muslims alike. Jews have paid with their lives for clinging to their forefathers’ heritage and to the Western Wall, and Muslims have died because of this false and contemptuous blood libel. Forty-eight years have passed since the Temple Mount, the site of the Temple, returned to Jewish sovereignty – and never have Muslims been restricted from entering. On the contrary, the State of Israel has invested great effort to make freedom of worship possible on the Mount – even at the cost of harming Jewish visitors who wish to ascend to the site. (Without debating the issue of allowing Jews into the Temple Mount area, the Chief Rabbinate, which I represent, forbids Jewish entry to the Temple Mount.) And yet, from the depths of hatred, the cry of “The Temple Mount is in Danger” is sounded again, enlisting naïve people who will kill and be killed in this mendacious war. Only a few days ago, on the eve of Rosh Hashana, another name was added to the horrific list of the Temple Mount libel victims. A Jew, wrapped in tallit and tefillin, was on his way to the Western Wall when he was nearly beaten to death by a gang of young Muslims. His only sin was his Jewish appearance, and for this he almost paid with his life.

Shlomi Eldar : Who Are the Temple Mount’s Mourabitoun?— As the struggle over the Temple Mount escalates, the number of Muslim male and female recruits to the Mourabitoun, responsible for inflaming and fanning violence at the site, has grown. The police and Israel Security Agency put their numbers at more than 1,000 women and hundreds of men, who are paid up to 4,000 Israeli shekels ($1,040) a month for their activism. The funding is provided by Islamic charities, mainly the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, headed by Sheikh Raid Salah. Israeli security services claim that Hamas also funnels money to the groups. When Jews arrive on the Mount, the Muslim women, dressed in black, their faces veiled, repeatedly call out in unison, “Allahu Akbar,” to scare off the Jews in a type of psychological warfare.

China has a message markets don’t understand

SnyderTalk Comment: Apple and Starbucks have said that their sales in China are still brisk.  Some China analysts interpret that to mean that China’s economy isn’t in terrible shape even though Caterpillar has taken a big hit in China.

There is another way to interpret those facts.  Chinese consumers may be following what I call “the American model”.  Actually, it’s more like the American mindset: spend every penny you have and then borrow to spend more.

Americans will continue to spend like there will be no tomorrow until the economy collapses.  It’s a formula for disaster.

The problem with socialist economies and the reason why no socialist economy has ever done well for very long is the people’s reliance on others (i.e., the government) to do for them what they should be doing for themselves. People who buy into the socialist philosophy behave as if someone will always be there to bail them out no matter what they do.

I call it “the American disease”, but it’s really a socialist malady.  People who are afflicted with it tend to believe that anything goes and that there will never be negative consequences.  I think that’s why socialist systems fail and why American consumers keep spending until they are bankrupt or close to it.

As an investor, you can take advantage of the disease by investing in the stocks of consumer discretionary companies.  They tend to do well until disaster strikes.

I think that’s where we are now in the U.S.  It’s possible and I think it’s likely that China is there, too.  If I’m right, things are about to get ugly.  See “Wall Street braces for grim third quarter earnings season”.

Warning: when disaster strikes, consumer discretionary companies are not safe bets because conspicuous consumption nosedives.  Firms like Apple, Starbucks, and Nike, for example, will take big hits.

Those companies are very good investments because they have built strong brands.  At the bottom of the economic cycle, they will be good investments again.  That’s when to buy them.  If I am right, now is the time to sell them.

Can Israel Find New Allies?

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Exodus 24

3 Then Moses came and recounted to the people all the words of Yahweh and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which Yahweh has spoken we will do!” 4 Moses wrote down all the words of Yahweh. Then he arose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 He sent young men of the sons of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to Yahweh. 6 Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!” 8 So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite.
