Khaled Abu Toameh—Why Palestinians Cannot Make Peace with Israel:

There are two main reasons why Palestinians will not sign a real and meaningful peace agreement with Israel — at least not in the foreseeable future.

The first is a total lack of education for peace. The second is related to the absence of a leader who is authorized — or has the guts — to embark on such a risky mission.

Americans and Europeans who keep talking about the need to revive the stalled peace process in the Middle East continue to ignore these two factors. They continue to insist that peace is still possible and that the ball is in Israel’s court.

The Americans and Europeans fail to acknowledge that in order to achieve peace, the leaders must prepare their people for compromise and tolerance.

In fact, it is inaccurate to say merely that Palestinian leaders have failed to prepare their people for peace with Israel. Instead, one should say that the Palestinian leadership has long been inciting its people against Israel to a point where it has become almost impossible to talk about any form of compromise between Israelis and Palestinians.

Since its inception in 1994, the Palestinian Authority (PA) has devoted most of its energies and propaganda to delegitimizing and isolating Israel. Ironically, this incitement continued even as the PA was negotiating with Israel in an attempt to reach a peace agreement.

SnyderTalk Comment: Bottom line: Palestinians don’t want peace with Israel.  If they did, they could have had it a long time ago.

Don’t expect peace until the Messiah returns.  People will seek it or some semblance of it; politicians will make speeches about it; and Islamists will blow up things trying to prevent it.

The Messiah’s timetable is the only thing that matters.  To unbelievers, that’s and incredibly stupid statement.  To most of the people that I know who call themselves “believers” and especially politicians who claim to be Christians, it’s a talking point, a line in a speech.

Here’s a hint: there will be a peace deal, but it won’t last.  Why?  See the “bottom line” in the first sentence.

Here’s another hint: when the history of the world is revealed, it will be all about Yahweh and His promises to and about the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob/Israel.  That includes the Jewish people, but they are just one of twelve tribes and Joseph got a double portion so that makes thirteen groups.

Nothing and no one can prevent Yahweh from fulfilling His promises.  If we are on His side, we will be safe.  If we are not on His side, nothing can protect us, and that’s the truth.

See “Historic nuclear deal with Iran expected to be announced”.  This deal will be heralded as an important step toward peace.  It isn’t.

Laurence Norman and Jay Solomon: Iran, World Powers Reach Nuclear Deal—Iran reached a landmark nuclear agreement with the U.S. and five other world powers, Western diplomats said Tuesday morning, a long-sought foreign policy goal of the Obama administration that sets the White House on course for months of political strife with dissenters in Congress and in allied Middle Eastern nations. A press conference will follow the meeting said a spokeswoman for European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. The accord, which is expected to be signed off at 10:30 a.m. local time in Vienna after a decade of diplomatic efforts that frequently appeared on the verge of collapse, aims to prevent Iran from producing nuclear weapons in exchange for sanctions relief. Assessments of the pact’s likely effect are a source of dispute.

SnyderTalk Comment: And now the lying begins.  Iran will deny agreeing to things that they didn’t want and will pursue their ambitions.  Obama will pretend that everything is fine.  The world is the loser.  Israel is the biggest loser of all.

NBC News: Iran Nuclear Deal: President Obama Says Deal Makes World ‘Safer and More Secure’—President Barack Obama said Tuesday that the nuclear deal with Iran “makes our country and the world safer and more secure.” “The United States, together with our international partners, has achieved something that decades of animosity has not — a comprehensive, long-term deal with Iran that will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon,” he said. The president made an early-morning statement from the White House after Iran and world powers reached a historic accord for Tehran to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the easing of economic sanctions. He said that the deal was built on verification, not trust, and he said that walking away would increase the likelihood of a “nuclear arms race in the most volatile region of the world.” “Put simply: No deal means the chance of more war in the Middle East,” he said.

SnyderTalk Comment: Either Obama is lying or he doesn’t have any idea what he just did.  I think he’s lying.

Anthony Faiola and Ylan Q. Mui: Greek leader’s debt deal ignites revolt at home from austerity’s opponents—On Monday morning, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras capitulated in Brussels to keep the euro zone together. He returned home hours later to find a country split apart. After a marathon 17-hour summit that turned into one of the most contentious diplomatic standoffs in European Union history, Tsipras acquiesced to a punishing ultimatum from his country’s European creditors. In exchange for a $96 billion rescue — Greece’s third in five years — he agreed to lightning-fast passage of reforms and a pledge to adhere to harsh austerity measures to save Greek banks and keep the country in the euro. But by late Monday, it was becoming clear that the bailout that could save his nation might also cost him his job.

Yossi Melman: Analysis: The more things change…— In 2007, a senior Israeli cabinet minister told senior military officials that if a country wants nuclear weapons nothing will stop it. “I know at least one country that did it,” he remarked in response to their agreed upon strategy to do everything to keep Iran from getting the bomb. Instead, he advised them to focus on delaying the nuclear program and to ask the US to be handsomely compensated. Eight years later, when its seems that only a miracle will prevent a nuclear deal between the six super powers and Iran in the Vienna talks, one can say that due to its successful diplomacy, sabotage and assassination operations attributed to Mossad and its demand to impose sanctions, Israel managed to prevent Iran of reaching the bomb.

Dr. Reuven Berko: Addicted to self-deception—There is an Arab proverb that says, “What is written on the brow will inevitably be seen by the eye,” meaning that one will inevitably meet one’s destiny. But the eyes of the West do not see the writing. The negotiators responsible for the talks between Iran and the world powers see the sights and hear the voices, but ignore reality and engage in the wishful thinking of those who sent them to Vienna. Like failed psychologists, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his team are managing the negotiations with the unquestionably stubborn Iranians as if they were therapy sessions. The Iranians, following the directives of a cynical ayatollah whispering to them from the wings, are deliberately displaying manic personality shifts, up and down, playing the West like a marionette between hope and despair.

U.S. Department of Defense: U.S. Defense Secretary: Iran Nuclear Deal Must Be Verifiable, “Can’t Be Based on Trust”—Secretary of Defense Ash Carter said Friday, “Could you trust the Iranians if you get a deal with them, because their history isn’t, let us say, spotless in that regard?…A good deal has a few things it must have within it. One of them, it has to be verifiable. That is, we have to be able to know that the Iranians are taking the steps that the agreement calls for to not get a nuclear weapon. We can’t do that based on trust.” “Just like back in the old days of the Cold War when we had arms control with the Soviet Union, we didn’t trust the Soviet Union either. And we wanted to make sure that all the agreements are verifiable. So that’s a critical thing. And if it’s not verifiable, we’re not going to agree to it.”

Benjamin Weinthal and Emanuele Ottolenghi: Iran Made Illegal Purchases of Nuclear Weapons Technology Last Month—A recent report by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, confirmed that Iran continues to seek illicit technology for its nuclear and ballistic missiles programs, including industry computers, high-speed cameras, cable fiber, and pumps.

Emily B. Landau: A Moment before the Iran Deal—This negotiation is fundamentally a game of compellence, in which Iran is being forced to comply or else face punishment. Iran is trying to hold onto its option of becoming a nuclear weapons state, in violation of the NPT, and the international negotiators are tasked with stopping it. The interests of the two sides are zero sum, and only one side will win. Iran’s interest in coming back to the table in 2013 was only to lift sanctions – nothing changed regarding its nuclear interest. The P5+1 made a huge mistake by projecting an eagerness for a deal. By taking the U.S. threat of military consequences virtually off the table, Iran knows it has seen the worst that the international community can do to it in terms of pressure, and this is a major boost to its leverage. In fact, the P5+1 have boxed themselves in: they have projected to Iran that this crisis can only be resolved through negotiations, so all Iran has to do is sit tight. P5+1 concessions are already rolling in.

Boaz Bismuth: A historic and shameful surrender—Iran Air was happy to announce on Sunday that it will purchase 14 new passenger planes by the end of the year. The headlines in the Islamic republic highlighted the story. One of the heads of Iran’s aviation industry, Hamid Habibi, said his country intends to invest $20 billion in the new aircraft. He even paid a visit to the International Paris Air Show. This story about the new planes fits like a glove alongside the nuclear deal between Iran and the global powers: a country under no embargo, as Iran is about to be after it signs the deal, free to operate in the world. And planes are an excellent means to that end. The Iranian economy, on the verge of reopening its doors, is enticing to all. The French, Germans, Russians (military equipment), Americans — everyone wants to sell to Tehran. It’s no surprise the nuclear negotiations have turned into a Persian bazaar.

Daniel Taub: Israel’s people want peace too. Pressure doesn’t help—This month I return to Israel after four years as its ambassador in the UK. I’ve been privileged to witness an extraordinary expansion in our bilateral cooperation, and I’ve also had many conversations about Israel and the prospects for peace. One troubling and recurrent theme has been that the main thing Britain can do to promote peace in the Middle East is to exert pressure on Israel. On hearing this, I am reminded of the fable of the north wind and the sun. In their competition, the north wind fails to blow the cloak off a passing traveller no matter how hard it blows; yet the sun succeeds, by warming the traveller’s surroundings, and encouraging him to take off the cloak himself. Recent years have yielded no shortage of wind. Resolutions and boycott campaigns have all attempted to force Israel’s hand. Yet the response by Israel’s people has been emphatic: twice re-electing the government these efforts have sought to censure.

Burak Bekdil: Turkey: Jihadists in Lawyers’ Robes—Islamist newspapers claim that the real victims are not those who were burned alive at the Hotel Madimak in Sivas, but those who murdered them and have since remained in prison. An army of lawyers rushed to offer their services to the Sivas massacre defendants, most probably on a pro bono basis. They probably felt this was part of the jihad — this time taking place at courtrooms with jihadists in lawyers’ robes. Those lawyers’ career moves in later years are telling. One Sivas massacre defense attorney became the justice minister. One became an AKP state minister. Two became Erdogan’s personal lawyers.

Avi Issacharoff: The Alliance between Hamas and Islamic State—When a Hamas drone crashed on Israel’s side of the Gaza border fence two weeks ago, IDF officials discovered that the drone, in addition to monitoring events inside Israel, was also photographing Gaza’s border with Egypt. Four months ago, the Egyptian news outlet Al Usbu reported that Egyptian radar had identified three spy drones that had infiltrated repeatedly from southern Gaza to a distance of 50 km. into Sinai. What are Hamas drones doing deep inside Egyptian territory? They are spying on Egypt, gathering intelligence about Egyptian troop movements. Knowing the location of army deployments allows Hamas to keep smuggling routes open between Sinai and Gaza. The smuggling route between Gaza and Sinai gives both sides a constant supply of arms, combat forces, instructors and advisers, while raking in huge profits from the smuggling industry in Gaza. When Egypt began its offensive against the tunnels in June 2013, the Islamic State and Hamas were forced to cooperate to hold on to even a fraction of the ability to smuggle arms and personnel into Gaza. Moreover, members of the same Bedouin tribe are active on both sides of the border. Over the past year, Abd al-Hila Kishteh, a former high-ranking member of the Hamas military wing who was dispatched by Hamas to Sinai, has been training Islamic State fighters in the use of advanced anti-tank weapons. IS leaders have undergone training and military studies with Hamas in Gaza, gaining the military doctrines they have been imparting to their operatives in Sinai. Hamas also pointedly takes wounded members of IS to hospitals in Gaza where they are treated under Hamas supervision. The July 1 attack by IS in northern Sinai that killed scores of Egyptian soldiers was a success only in psychological terms. Roughly 250 IS operatives were killed during the raid, a huge number in proportion to the count of combat troops (1,000) the group has.

Zvi Mazel: Egypt Fights a Terror Onslaught—Egypt’s endurance is vital to the continued existence of a sane Middle East that opposes the establishment of a caliphate based on Sharia law. Some in the West fail to understand Egypt’s key role as a country fighting radical Islam. They view Sisi as a military dictator who overthrew an elected president, while they turn a blind eye to the fact that his predecessor, Muhammad Morsi, aimed to turn Egypt into an Islamic dictatorship. Israel is trying to help Egypt as much as possible, pressing Egypt’s case in Washington and pursuing security and intelligence cooperation far from the eyes of the media.

Maj. Gen. (ret.) Yaakov Amidror: The Implications of Middle East Chaos:

  • Israel is surrounded on almost every side by terrorist organizations with considerable offensive capabilities. Because of their character, the possibility of passing over to real warfare without advance notice, at any moment, and without a lot of preparation, must be taken into consideration.
  • All the radical Islamic organizations have a shared foundation: all of them believe that Islam should rule the world. With a belief in the supremacy of Islam, they are united in their hatred of Israel (among other countries), and in some cases they are even prepared to play down their mutual conflict and help each other fight against Israel. They perceive Israel as an alien entity – as the long arm of the West, led by the U.S.
  • If Israel’s power is reduced, or if it loses the determination required to use that power, then it will be destroyed, having no place in the brutal world in which its enemies use weapons of the twenty-first century, but fight and kill according to the rules of conduct of the seventh century.
  • Recently, a leader of a Western state, who had already retired from his post, said to me that even if he does not say this out loud, he understands that Israel stands at the forefront of the battle of the democratic and modern world against the forces of radical Islam. It is supremely important for Israel’s blade to be sharp, and for Israel to be prepared to use it, and not only for its own sake.
  • Developments like the increase in power of the Islamic forces such as IS, or Iran obtaining nuclear capabilities, turn the matter of reaching an agreement with the Palestinians into a very problematic issue. In such circumstances, the chances increase greatly that whoever signs an agreement with Israel will not necessarily be the party that ultimately rules the territory. It is possible, and even probable, that the most radical forces in the Muslim world will take power, as they have elsewhere, over the West Bank and Gaza.
  • Any agreement with the Palestinians must be based on the understanding that no signatory and no guarantor of the agreement will have the power to prevent Islamic radicalization among the Palestinians. No one can guarantee that the Palestinian government will be strong enough and capable enough to stand up to the wave of radical Islam.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Exodus 14

26 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing right into it; then Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even Pharaoh’s entire army that had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them remained. 29 But the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 30 Thus Yahweh saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 When Israel saw the great power which Yahweh had used against the Egyptians, the people feared Yahweh, and they believed in Yahweh and in His servant Moses.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
