A Perfect Storm is Brewing Right Here in America

I’m off to Israel.  Before I go, there is something that I want to say.

A report by the Pew Research Center that was released a few days ago confirms something that believers have known about for some time.  The title, “America’s Changing Religious Landscape: Christians Decline Sharply as Share of Population; Unaffiliated and Other Faiths Continue to Grow”, says it all:

The Christian share of the U.S. population is declining, while the number of U.S. adults who do not identify with any organized religion is growing, according to an extensive new survey by the Pew Research Center. Moreover, these changes are taking place across the religious landscape, affecting all regions of the country and many demographic groups. While the drop in Christian affiliation is particularly pronounced among young adults, it is occurring among Americans of all ages. The same trends are seen among whites, blacks and Latinos; among both college graduates and adults with only a high school education; and among women as well as men.

The Pew report dovetails with something that Admiral Mike Rogers, director of the National Security Agency and head of U.S. Cyber Command, said:

The head of U.S. Cyber Command said Monday that the ability of ISIS to recruit adherents online is “a trend that is clearly increasing, not decreasing” and that the terror group’s ideology is “increasingly resonating” with Americans.

Adm. Mike Rogers, director of the National Security Agency, also said that the terror group’s recent efforts to use cyber capabilities as a weapons system rather than only for recruiting and spreading ideology is a “great concern” to the NSA.

President Obama and members of his administration continue to tell us that radical Islamists aren’t really Muslims.  That is an absurd statement because ISIS types are following the letter of the Quran.

In other words, radical Islamists take Islam seriously.  Ordinary Muslims don’t.

Ordinary Muslims are the ones that Obama and his underlings are talking about.  As a group, they don’t represent a serious threat at this moment, but each day more of them are being radicalized.

Do the math:

  1. Christianity is shrinking.
  2. Islam is growing.
  3. The ideology behind radical Islam is becoming increasingly popular.

A perfect storm is brewing right here in America.

I know a lot people personally who call themselves “Christians” simply because they were born in America and they come from “Christian families”.  Everything that they say and do screams that they aren’t really Christians, but they think they are.

The Messiah said, “You will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7: 16)  That was as much a warning as an observation.

Cutting to the chase, anyone who believes that the U.S. today is a Christian nation hasn’t been paying attention, especially since the election of Barack Obama.

I’m not trying to lay all of the blame for today’s wickedness at Obama’s feet.  He merely reflects the nation that elected him as their leader twice.  Even so, he bears a good deal of guilt, because he has made it acceptable for people who aren’t Christians to claim that they are while they wallow in filth.  Just as important, he has made it okay for people to declare openly that they aren’t Christians.

Not long ago, people who didn’t know Yahweh from a hole in the wall would tell you that they were Christians because it was the “right thing to say”.  That’s not true anymore.

Today, large numbers of people believe that not being a Christian is a badge of honor, and they wear it proudly.  They even mock believers. Actually, they are mocking Yahweh, but they don’t have clue.  Some of them will figure it out and repent.  Others won’t.  They are heading for a destiny that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

I suspect that unbelievers represent the majority in the U.S.  It didn’t use to be this way.

Many times, I’ve mentioned the significance of the Democrat Party booing Yahweh during their 2012 National Convention.  That would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.  Even if they had wanted to boo Yahweh, they wouldn’t have done it for political reasons.  The stigma has been removed.

If things keep changing this quickly, in no time, distinguishing between the wheat and the chaff will become child’s play.  If you are a believer, you will stand out.  That’s the way it should have been all along.

The reference to wheat and chaff is a warning.  John the Baptist used it when a group of religious leaders came to the Jordan River to be baptized.  It’s discussed in Matthew 3:

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, ‘You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; 9 and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, “We have Abraham for our father”; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham. 10 The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.’”

Those religious leaders were like so many Christian “leaders” in the U.S. today.  They use their “faith” as a tool for bilking their followers and getting filthy rich in the process.  The video below deals with the problem, but it’s produced by the secular media.  That’s the job of believers.  Why aren’t we doing our job?  Why are we turning a blind eye to something that should be obvious and something that we should know is a betrayal of Yahweh?

The next video will give you a good idea about how the religious leaders in the Messiah’s day lived.  I took it about a year ago in Jerusalem.  One of the religious leaders who came to John the Baptist may have lived in this house.  John called them a “brood of vipers”.  They are eerily similar to their modern-day counterparts.

I’m not suggesting that all Christian leaders in the U.S. today are wicked scoundrels, but many of them certainly are.  They are greedy empire builders—not servants of the Most High.  They aren’t feeding the flock.  They are fleecing the flock.  Yahweh delivered this message to Ezekiel about similar people in his day:

1 Then the word of Yahweh came to me saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, ‘Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock? 3 You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat sheep without feeding the flock. 4 Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed, the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you sought for the lost; but with force and with severity you have dominated them. 5 They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and they became food for every beast of the field and were scattered. 6 My flock wandered through all the mountains and on every high hill; My flock was scattered over all the surface of the earth, and there was no one to search or seek for them.”’”

7 Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh: 8 “As I live,” declares Adonai Yahweh, “surely because My flock has become a prey, My flock has even become food for all the beasts of the field for lack of a shepherd, and My shepherds did not search for My flock, but rather the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock; 9 therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh: 10 ‘Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand My sheep from them and make them cease from feeding sheep. So the shepherds will not feed themselves anymore, but I will deliver My flock from their mouth, so that they will not be food for them.”’” (Ezekiel 34: 1-10)

The “unaffiliated” group mentioned in the Pew report includes people like me.  The “church” referred to in the Bible includes every person that has been called out by Yahweh.  In Greek, it’s “ekklesia”.  Literally, it means “the called out ones”.  We have been “called out” by Yahweh to serve Him.  We are “unaffiliated” because we have abandoned manmade religion.

You don’t join Yahweh’s church; you don’t sign pledge cards; you don’t put on fundraisers; and you don’t recruit new members.  Yahweh calls you to it, and you go where He leads you.  The Messiah explained it this way: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10: 27)

Today, if you tell someone, even a Christian, that you have heard God’s voice, there is a very good chance that the person you are talking to will think that you are crazy.  According to the Messiah, all of His followers have heard His voice, and they keep on hearing it because Yahweh leads His children where He wants them to go.

As I said, things have really changed, and not for the better.

Some may think that I sound pessimistic.  I don’t agree.

I’m not pessimistic.  I’m optimistic because Yahweh is separating the wheat from the chaff.  That’s one sign that His return is near.

Speaking to the prophet Daniel, Yahweh said, “Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.” (Daniel 12: 10)

That’s happening right now.  Some are being purified and refined, but the wicked continue to act wickedly.  The wicked don’t see it, but believers do.

Jonathan S. Tobin: Should Israel Take Obama’s Iran Payoff?— For months, President Obama has been trying to find a way to silence Israeli objections to a nuclear deal with Iran. Up until now, Prime Minister Netanyahu has been adamant in his opposition to what he and many Americans feel is an effort to appease the Islamist regime that will have catastrophic consequences for the security of both the United States and Israel. But, if reports are correct, the Israeli government is preparing to make the best of an awful situation by accepting a massive military assistance package from the U.S. in exchange for what an unnamed senior administration official describes as “some quiet from the Israelis.” While it can be argued that expediency demands that Netanyahu seek to get what help from the Americans that he can, with the outcome of the nuclear negotiations still hanging in the balance, this isn’t the moment for the Israelis to go into the tank for Obama on Iran. As the Israeli press is reporting, the Americans are prepared to pay what the administration official called, “a hefty price” for Israel’s silence in the upcoming months as a nuclear agreement is debated in Congress. That price will supposedly include up to 50 advanced F-35 fighter jets and anti-missile batteries. Given the importance of maintaining Israel’s qualitative edge over potential Arab and Iranian foes, it’s a tempting offer. Especially alluring for the Israelis is the prospect of more Iron Dome batteries as well as funding for more short-range David’s Sling batteries and the long-range Arrow-3 missile defense.

Caroline Glick’s Comment: I believe that US military aid to Israel is a poison pill. Israel subsidizes US military industries, transfers its advanced technologies to the US essentially for free, harms its own domestic capabilities and encourages its generals to walk around like welfare queens, psychologically dependent on the good will of strangers.

And if that weren’t enough, Israel then has to worry that some anti-Israel president will halt arms deliveries during a war — as the Obama administration did with the Hellfire missiles during last summer’s war. Oh, and we have to constantly thank everyone for standing with the US’s most vital strategic ally in the Middle East, lest they say we are ungrateful.

Given that the US electorate elected Obama twice it would be more than foolish for Israel to believe that nothing has changed in a fundamental way in America and that once he’s gone everything will be fine. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. But we can’t bet the farm on American friendship.

America has changed.

Buying the same US platforms as Turkey – as is the case with the F-35 boondoggle is insane. It means that Israel’s worst enemies will have a complete picture of Israeli avionics capabilities.

At the same time, if Obama wants to give us $1.9 billion in stuff, why shouldn’t we take it?

Jonathan Tobin, in the article below says that in exchange for the arms, we are supposed to stop criticizing the insane nuclear pact Obama is pushing with Iran, a pact that will place not just Israel and the Sunni Gulf states Obama is betraying in mortal danger, but the US itself in danger the likes of which it hasn’t seen.

I don’t see why we can’t accept the arms and keep talking. What are they gonna do? Conclude a treacherous deal with the mullahs? Side with the Palestinians?

Oh, they are already doing that.

We owe Obama nothing. He is not our friend and he doesn’t have our back. If he wants to give us a bunch of airplanes, we should take them. And we should move swiftly to end the military aid we receive from Washington and start charging the US the same as everyone else for our technologies.

From Caroline Glick’s Facebook page.

SnyderTalk Comment: Caroline Glick is right, and Obama should be ashamed for even considering making such a foolish offer.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Exodus 11

4 Moses said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 Moreover, there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again. 7 But against any of the sons of Israel a dog will not even bark, whether against man or beast, that you may understand how Yahweh makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’ 8 All these your servants will come down to me and bow themselves before me, saying, ‘Go out, you and all the people who follow you,’ and after that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
