Sam Levine—Obama, Get Over Your Israel ‘Temper Tantrum’:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said on Sunday that President Barack Obama should “get over his temper tantrum” over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The president should get over it. Get over your temper tantrum, Mr. President, it’s time that we work together with our Israeli friends and try to stem this tide of ISIS and Iranian movement throughout the region, which is threatening the very fabric of the region. The least of your problems is what Bibi Netanyahu said during an election campaign,” McCain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

On Monday, just before Israelis headed to the polls in an election, Netanyahu said that there would not be a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians while he was prime minister. While Netanyahu later tried to backtrack on those comments, Obama told The Huffington Post on Friday that the United States was operating under the assumption that Netanyahu did not support a two-state solution.

Obama also told HuffPost that he was deeply uncomfortable with the way that Netanyahu released a video on election day warning that Arab-Israelis were going to the polls “in droves.”

“We indicated that that kind of rhetoric was contrary to what is the best of Israel’s traditions. That although Israel was founded based on the historic Jewish homeland and the need to have a Jewish homeland, Israeli democracy has been premised on everybody in the country being treated equally and fairly,” Obama said. “And I think that that is what’s best about Israeli democracy. If that is lost, then I think that not only does it give ammunition to folks who don’t believe in a Jewish state, but it also I think starts to erode the meaning of democracy in the country.”

SnyderTalk Comment: If Obama persists and his actions harm Israel in any way, the United States will suffer more than Obama can imagine.  I hope and pray that Yahweh will spare our country and hold him accountable personally.

Candidly, I don’t think that will happen.  We should prepare for the worst and hope for the best.  See:

I hope and pray that Netanyahu turns up the heat on Obama to keep him from making a bad deal with Iran.  Will Obama heed a warning?  Not if it comes from Netanyahu.  Pray that he will anyway, though.  See

This article explains why Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran isn’t just a deal between him and them.  It involves every country in the Middle East and Europe plus the United States and Russia.  See “The Middle East Nuclear Race Is Already Underway”:

One of the most important reasons why the U.S. is trying to conclude a nuclear deal with Iran is to prevent an Iranian bomb from triggering a nuclear race in the Middle East. Yet even as talks continue now in Switzerland, Tehran’s regional rivals have already begun quietly acting on their own atomic ambitions. Nuclear power may be on the wane almost everywhere else in the world, but it’s all the rage in the place with all that oil.

Egypt’s announcement last month that it was hiring Russia to build a reactor near Alexandria made it only the latest entrant in an emerging atomic derby. Every other major Sunni power in the region has announced similar plans. And though none appear either as ambitious nor as ambiguous as what’s taken place in Iran—which set out to master the entire atomic fuel cycle, a red flag for a military program—each announcement lays down a marker in a region that, until recently, was notable as the one place on the planet where governments had made little progress on nuclear power.

What hath Obama wrought?

Well, it’s not good for anybody anywhere.  Obama can’t figure that out.  I wish I could say that I have confidence in Obama, but I don’t.  We need a great leader during these times, and he is no leader at all.

13--Perspectives 2

#####

Dr. Haim Shine: The demise of the arrogant Left— During the recent election campaign it was claimed that millions of dollars, including U.S. government funds, had been given to leftist organizations to topple the right-wing Israeli government. The U.S. State Department denied the accusations and clarified that the money had been transferred before the early election was called. Strangely, Zionist Union leaders Isaac Herzog and Tzipi Livni’s enraged response to the election’s outcome are strikingly similar to that of U.S. President Barack Obama’s, which is deeply disturbing because it seems that the American president is lamenting a large financial investment that went down the drain. It is as if Obama received the Zionist Union’s message bulletin and has been citing familiar clichés about the need for a Palestinian state, a return to 1967 borders and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s supposed misconduct toward the Arab public in Israel. It is unbelievably pathetic to hear Obama’s hypocritical ranting about his concern for the Israeli public, lest their country becomes a binational state. Even Livni does not sound as determined as he is.

Peter Huessy: Proposed Deal with Iran Not Legal; Iranian Nukes in South America— The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) forbids any of its signatories to have nuclear weapons. Full stop. The P5+1 have been attempting to amend the NPT without going through the process established by the NPT itself — and attempting to do this for just one of its 190 signatories: Iran. Under the terms of the NPT, the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, plus Germany) have no legal authority to amend the treaty unilaterally, to abrogate the treaty, or to allow nations that are signatories to the NPT to abrogate the treaty. The NPT can only be changed through a review conference of all parties. All changes agreed to after that must be consented to by the signatory nations, according to their own legal requirements.

Mortimer B. Zuckerman: Netanyahu Never Ruled Out a Two-State Solution—At Bar-Ilan University on June 14, 2009, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “In my vision of peace, there are two free peoples living side by side.” What happened since? Netanyahu’s Bar-Ilan olive branch was followed by more rockets from Gaza, foreign subsidies diverted to tunnel building for murder, and hostage-taking. Bar-Ilan was followed by Iran sandwiching Israel north and south between its terrorist client Hamas in Gaza and its terrorist client Hizbullah in Lebanon. Bar-Ilan was followed by the Palestinian Authority making a coalition deal with Hamas, and by more intensive “hate Jews” campaigns in schools and public television, more celebrations of murderers subsidized by the PA. Netanyahu said: “I think that anyone who goes about establishing a Palestinian state today and vacating territory is giving attack territory to extremist Islam to be used against the state of Israel.” When Netanyahu says “today,” he does not mean that he will not be open to it tomorrow or the day after.

Robert Satloff: Did Washington Ask Netanyahu about His “Two-State” Statement before Criticizing Him?—Launching a shot across Israel’s bow, Obama aides told reporters that a new U.S. policy might include endorsing a UN Security Council resolution that would, against the wishes of Israel’s democratically elected government, define terms of a final settlement. For Obama, such an act would leave a dangerous legacy of having ended 40 years of principled U.S. effort to promote direct negotiations between the parties. No one in the administration seems to have called up the prime minister to ask what he meant by his statements – namely, was he foreswearing forever the possibility of territorial compromise or was he saying that further concessions now, while Palestinians are pursuing their effort to vilify Israel in the International Criminal Court, are out of the question? If officials had telephoned Jerusalem, they would have heard what Netanyahu told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell the very next day. “I don’t want a one-state solution; I want a sustainable, peaceful two-state solution, but for that, circumstances have to change.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Obama’s philosophy is not to confuse the issue with the facts especially if he wants to act up and throw a fit. See “Israeli Ambassador Dermer: The Prime Minister Didn’t Say What the President Suggested He Said”.

As an aside, I’m always amazed when people who are well known for lying criticize others for saying things with which they don’t agree.

Obama is a notorious liar.  Netanyahu told the truth.

If Obama would take the time to study the Camp David summit with Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak, and Yasser Arafat, he would understand why the two-state solution won’t work.

I’m not guessing.  I’m telling.

Singapore Today: Yemen foes square off as fears of war, Saudi-Iran rivalry grow— Yemen’s top factions are squaring off for battle after months of skirmishes, turning respectively to neighboring Saudi Arabia and its regional rival Iran for help in what may become all-out war. With President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi seeking a comeback from the port city of Aden while the Shi’ite Houthi movement controls the capital Sanaa, rival administrations are trading bellicose rhetoric as fighting intensifies and factions commandeer airfields for the next stage of the struggle. Somewhat on the sidelines, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and Islamic State are waiting to exploit what some fear could become Yemen’s worst conflict since a 1994 civil war.

Eli Sahar: Maybe now they’ll get it—The sadness and dejection emanating from the various television channels made me check my calendar to see if the Jewish days of mourning hadn’t already arrived. The arrogance and condescension of the days prior to the election have turned into lamentation. Zionist Union leaders Isaac Herzog and Tzipi Livni, as well as a backup chorus of talk shows, are wailing as one. In sports, it sometimes happens that our predictions turn out to be worth very little. Only a year ago, I predicted that Maccabi Tel Aviv would not even reach the Final Four, and look, they won the title. But most of us know how to praise the winner, tip our hats to them and accept the loss. True, politics isn’t an exact science, but what was stopping the funeral chorus — particularly those whose offices are located in Tel Aviv — from leaving their air-conditioned studios a couple of weeks ago, traveling the country, and seeing whether their wholehearted mobilization to bring down Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had any real traction in the field?

Lily Rothman: ‘We Need to Get This Right’: Obamacare Turns Five— When President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010, it was obvious that making “Obamacare” official was still only the beginning of the law’s story. “Now for the really hard part,” TIME proclaimed in a cover story about the new law. Looking back at that story by Karen Tumulty and Kate Pickert that announced the law’s arrival, it’s noteworthy just how tempered expectations were.

SnyderTalk Comment: Barack Obama is an out-and-out liar.  Obamacare is all the proof you need, but there is a lot more evidence.  Obama criticizing anyone for things they may have said is laughable.

Jonathan Tobin: Bibi’s a conniving, calculating – and don’t forget, dangerous! – liar?— Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement claiming that he still favors a two-state solution to the conflict with the Palestinians isn’t likely to persuade his detractors that he wants peace. The day before his decisive victory in Tuesday’s election, he vowed that there would be no Palestinian state established on his watch. This provoked a torrent of international criticism and served as justification for Obama administration threats to abandon Israel at the United Nations. But while Netanyahu can certainly be accused with some justice of being a cynical flip-flopper, this episode doesn’t justify the claims that Israel wasn’t negotiating in good faith with the Palestinians during the past few years. Nor is it entirely illogical.

Alexander Murinson: How an Armenian Prime Minister Caught the Iranian Flu— Historically, Jerusalem has played the role of a coveted possession in the geopolitical calculations of many regional and global powers. International religious rivalries over access and ownership of the Israeli capital’s holy sites continue unabated. The status of the Old City of Jerusalem and those holy places also presents one of the thorniest issues in the Arab-Israeli conflict. The latest installment in this long-drawn drama involves the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Armenian leadership’s cancellation of a planned visit to Jerusalem in February 2010 by then-prime minister Tigran Sargsyan provided a cause for concern and puzzlement for the Israeli government that persists to this day. Until recently, the Armenian government had not sent a single delegation to Israel since the cancellation of Sargsyan’s visit. In contrast, an Armenian neighbor, the Muslim-majority Republic of Azerbaijan, has sent a series of top-level delegations, including cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

Liz Sly: Petraeus: The Current Iranian Regime Is Part of the Problem, Not the Solution—Former CIA director Gen. David H. Petraeus told the Washington Post:”The current Iranian regime is not our ally in the Middle East. It is ultimately part of the problem, not the solution. The more the Iranians are seen to be dominating the region, the more it is going to inflame Sunni radicalism and fuel the rise of groups like the Islamic State. While the U.S. and Iran may have convergent interests in the defeat of Daesh [IS], our interests generally diverge. The Iranian response to the open hand offered by the U.S. has not been encouraging.” “Iranian power in the Middle East is thus a double problem. It is foremost problematic because it is deeply hostile to us and our friends. But it is also dangerous because, the more it is felt, the more it sets off reactions that are also harmful to our interests – Sunni radicalism and, if we aren’t careful, the prospect of nuclear proliferation as well.”

Thomas Joscelyn: Produce the Fatwa—In a statement Thursday to mark Nowruz, the Persian new year, President Obama said: “Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has issued a fatwa against the development of nuclear weapons.” If the president is so confident that Khamenei’s alleged fatwa exists, then his administration should be able to produce a copy of it, revealing when it was written and what it says. The Washington Post’s fact checker went looking for the fatwa and couldn’t find it. There is another problem. Khamenei says all sorts of things, many of which we know are false. For example, he has repeatedly claimed that the Obama administration supports the Islamic State. And Khamenei has clearly lied about Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Yoram Ettinger: Jewish-Arab Coexistence Against the Odds— The Israeli election shed some light on the increasingly local — rather than national or regional — priorities of the 1.7 million Israeli Arabs. It served to underscore the intensifying Israelization/localization of their self-determination; the widening cultural/ideological gap between Israeli Arabs and the Palestinians; the deep fragmentation within the Israeli Arab sector (despite the current merger between the individual Arab parties); their growing appreciation of Israel’s civil liberties and expanded trust in Israel’s political system; and the gap between the worldviews of a growing number of Israeli Arabs and most Arab Knesset members. According to a Feb. 17 public opinion survey conducted by Tel Aviv University’s researcher Arik Rudnitzky, a project manager at the Konrad Adenauer Program for Jewish-Arab Cooperation, the most pressing issues for Israel’s Arabs are employment, education, health care, neighborhood crime and women’s rights (43 percent), ahead of enhancing the status of the Arab community in Israel (28.1 percent) and the Israel-Palestinian conflict and negotiations (19 percent).

SnyderTalk Comment: When one group is committed to destroying the other, coexistence is impossible.  It’s not just against the odds.

The two-state solution is dead, and Netanyahu didn’t kill it.  It was a still birth—destined to fail from the get-go.

Obama hasn’t figured that out yet.  He probably never will because that requires something that he doesn’t have: good sense.

Jonathan Rosenblum: Scott Walker’s Challenge—and Ours— On a recent trade mission to England to promote Wisconsin cheese, Governor Scott Walker, the current frontrunner for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, was asked at the end of a 45 minute press conference: “Are you comfortable with evolution?” This is by now a standard question asked of every Republican politician designed to demonstrate that he is an unlettered boob too stupid to be considered for any office above dog-catcher. Walker’s questioner admitted as much by describing the question as de rigueur for Republican candidates. Walker punted on the question, which was probably a mistake. Any Republican running for office should expect it. And the answer, I think, should be something along the lines: I’m a public official, not a theologian. So if you want to ask me a question connected to public policy I’ll be happy to answer. Of course, the above answer will not avail when it comes to the other question used to paint Republicans as primitives who reject Science: Do you believe in catastrophic anthropogenic global warming? That one definitely has public policy consequences, and a political candidate should be prepared to discuss the topic in an informed fashion. If he can, he will in all likelihood be far in advance of his questioner and may wish to have some fun asking his questioner in which of the half-dozen or more scientific disciplines bearing on the climate debate — e.g., meteorology, oceanography, paleontology, cosmology — he has expertise.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Exodus 3: 13-15

13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Yahweh is the Name by which Yahweh wants us to remember Him and it’s the Name we are supposed to call Him forever.  Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
