Cynthia Blank—What Do US Election Results Mean for US-Israel Relations?:

The Republican party has won command of the Senate for the first time since 2007, sweeping control of the Congress.

With this control comes new possibilities and alliances in the relationship between the United States (US) and Israel.

Prof. Eytan Gilboa, an expert on American-Israeli relations, spoke withArutz Sheva about what he deemed the “three major issues Israel is concerned about,” that could be significantly impacted by this change in US legislative control.

The first – the war with Islamic State (ISIS). Although the United States has been launching airstrikes against the terrorist group in Syria and Iraq, many Republicans feel the Obama administration’s foreign policy is not doing enough against what many constituents view as a “serious threat.”

With the Republican victory an increase in military spending and a comprehensive debate over policy toward the Islamic State seems likely.

The second and “most important” issue for Israel is the Iranian nuclear deal, to which Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s government is strongly opposed.

“The United States is close to a deal with Iran and the President says he is not deterred to get the approval of Congress” to rescind sanctions against Iran in a final agreement deal.

However, because “both Democrats and Republicans have been opposing [this agreement],” Gilboa stressed that Obama could very well try to “circumvent Congress, because he is unsure he can win there.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Relations between the U.S. and Israel have never been more important than they are today, and the U.S. government has never been more antagonistic toward Israel than it is today.  To understand why, you have to ignore Obama’s words which are comforting but misleading and focus exclusively on his actions.  They reveal the truth.

The U.S. is unabashedly and unapologetically pro-Muslim and pro-Islamist.  Forget what President Obama says.  His actions reveal that he didn’t take Islamists seriously until after American citizens were beheaded and gruesome images were posted on the Internet.  To this day, Obama has done virtually nothing while Christians in the Middle East are being slaughtered.  That tells the tale.

The Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the White House and the State Department, and Islamists are helping to shape U.S. Israel policy.  Since 2009, President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry have shown disdain for Israel and support for radical Islamists.  They are still trying to cover-up their involvement in the Benghazi tragedy because they were complicit in protecting Islamists instead of State Department personnel including our ambassador.  All three of them have blood on their hands.  Maybe the new Congress will sort it all out.

The final two years of the Obama presidency should be interesting indeed.  With a Republican majority in the House and Senate, at least the president won’t be able to run roughshod over Israel without paying a high price in Congress.

This is the bottom line: Israel is in trouble.  Christians need to pay attention and do everything they can to make a difference where Israel is concerned.  Time is of the essence.

Dave Bender: Report: Obama Threatened Netanyahu with Dropping UN Veto Against Anti-Israel Moves—President Obama threatened Prime Minister Netanyahu that the U.S. may opt not to oppose future hostile UN Security Council votes, unless Israel accedes to American policy demands, Israel’s NRG News reported on Sunday. “The prime minister told colleagues in recent days…that his office’s understanding of the issue and the government’s take on it is that the Americans will not cast a veto against a resolution that reaches the Security Council,” Ariel Kahana, diplomatic correspondent for the Makor Rishon and NRG dailies, said Monday. “Beyond the abandonment of Israel, it also flies in the face of previous agreements with the Americans, including vis-a-vis the Egyptian peace deal, in which the U.S. would hold the line against such maneuvers,” Kahana noted.

Alan Dershowitz: Why is the Obama Administration Provoking Israel?— A senior Obama administration official recently went on the record with journalist Jeffrey Goldberg in calling Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “chickenshit.” A second senior official also went on the record calling Netanyahu a “coward” on the issue of Iran’s nuclear threat. If these reports are accurate, the following question must be asked: did the Obama administration—indeed perhaps President Obama himself—authorize two senior officials to issue these highly provocative and challenging statements? The White House has now tried to distance itself from the views expressed by these individuals, but it seems unlikely that two senior administration officials would go on the record using such explosive words without White House approval.

Moshe Phillips and Benyamin Korn: Obama Officials’ Insults Are Vulgar, But Their Policies Are Far Worse— The Obama administration officials’ vulgar treatment of Israel’s prime minister is troubling. But the policies behind their vulgarity – and reckless – are far worse. Two officials were involved: one who used the epithet to describe Israel’s leader, and a second who agreed with the obscene remark. The point they were both making is that they consider Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “coward” because he won’t make the concessions that they believe might lead to peace. What concessions, exactly? President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry, and other senior administration officials have said time and again that they want Israel to retreat to the 1967 armistice lines and permit the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. That would, of course, reduce Israel to just nine miles wide at its vulnerable mid-section, near Netanya. It would also almost certainly lead to a hostile Arab state — whether nationalist or Islamist — in Israel’s heartland.

Ben Cohen: Republican-Controlled Senate Will Likely Challenge Obama Over Iran— The Obama Administration will face a serious political battle over a potential nuclear deal with Iran should Republicans win control of the Senate in tomorrow’s midterm elections, a leading pro-Israel advocate in Washington, DC told The Algemeiner. Noah Pollak, Executive Director of the Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI,) an advocacy group focused on strengthening the bond between American elected officials and Israel, said that in the event of a deal with Iran by the November 24 deadline, “the sanctions regime against Iran will be falling apart as the administration bypasses Congress to grant loopholes and waivers.”  Although Congress would not be able to prevent that outcome, Pollak said, “the administration will put Democrats in a tough spot. Do they support the White House’s Iran sellout, or do they criticize it?”

Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Israel: Amnesty Report on Gaza War Ignores Hamas Terror—Amnesty International’s report issued Wednesday on this summer’s conflict between Israel and the Hamas terror group accuses Israel of wrongdoing while producing no evidence. At the same time, the report ignores documented war crimes perpetrated by Hamas, including the use of human shields, as well as firing at Israeli civilian population centers from within schools, hospitals, mosques and civilian neighborhoods in Gaza. The report does not mention the word “terror” in relation to Hamas or other armed Palestinian groups, nor does it mention tunnels built by Hamas to infiltrate Israel and perpetrate terror attacks. In Israel, investigations are currently underway by several bodies, inside and outside the Israel Defense Forces, into over 90 incidents. In comparison to Israel’s rigorous procedures, Amnesty’s report was written by local “field workers” with no independent verification of their claims.

Michael Singh: How the U.S., Not Iran, Is Making Concessions—The central aim of American policy toward Iran in recent years had been to persuade Tehran to make a strategic shift: away from a strategy of projecting power and deterring adversaries through asymmetric means, and toward one that would adhere to international norms and reinforce regional peace and stability. Iran does not, however, appear to have undergone any such change. In Iraq, much is made of the supposed alignment of interests between the U.S. and Iran. But no such alignment is apparent. Iran’s overt backing for Shiite militias in Iraq is directly at odds with President Obama’s strategy of seeking to restore Iraqi Sunnis’ confidence in Baghdad. In Syria, Washington’s stated policy is that Bashar al-Assad is illegitimate and that ending the Syrian conflict requires that he cede power, while Iran has worked to shore up Assad. Nor when it comes to Islamic State are the U.S. and Iran on the same page. Iranian leaders accuse the U.S. of having created IS. America is choosing to overlook, rather than counter, long-standing Iranian policies. Combined with the concessions we have made in the nuclear talks, this reinforces the impression that the U.S., not Iran, is undergoing a strategic shift.

Salem Salmin al-Nu’aimi: Handing Over the Gulf to Iran—Those who speak of the U.S. and Europe’s need for Gulf oil and gas do not seem to realize that it is the Asian countries that are the main consumers of Middle Eastern oil. By 2035, 90% of the Gulf’s oil exports will go to Asia. But that does not alter the fact that it is the U.S. that is the main guarantor of the naval passageways, something that is directly linked to the interests of U.S. energy security. The U.S. needs markets that will consume its products if it is to remain a superpower, and if it is to protect its economic interests, political influence, and commercial, industrial, and technological presence in the region, let alone secure the Gulf’s oil trade. All this affects the global price of oil and gas, whose rise will halt the ongoing efforts to recover from the global economic crisis. So, where does the failure lie in the U.S. attitude towards Gulf security? The failure lies in the notion that Iran can take the place of the U.S. as a strong military power in the region. This is a scenario that some American politicians view as a solution for the problem posed by Iranian threats to the Straits of Hormuz, on the grounds that Iran is a regional power with a secret network that stretches across the entire region.

Yaakov Lappin: Ya’alon: No division will dampen relations with the US—Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Tuesday praised the “unbreakable alliance” with the US, and described Washington as Israel’s “greatest friend,” on which the Jewish state is strategically reliant. The defense minister spoke at the unveiling of an Israel Aerospace Industries production line at its at its Lod plant, where wings for the F-35 single- seat, single-engine, stealth fighters will be produced. “The US supplied Israel throughout the years with wide-scale assistance, particularly in the defense field, and it is the one that assists Israel in standing up to challenges,” Ya’alon said. “As someone who has for years accompanied these special relations, I am deeply moved every time by the depth of the ties and the intimacy between the defense establishments, and the militaries that are at their helm. In a changing and stormy Middle East, where one does not know what the next day will bring, these are important ties, like no other.”

Reuters: German Exports to Iran Surge after Easing of Sanctions—German exports to Iran jumped by about 33 percent in the first eight months of the year, lifted by an easing of Western sanctions against the Islamic Republic after an interim deal on its disputed nuclear work, data seen by Reuters showed. Germany, Europe’s biggest economy, is traditionally Iran’s most important trading partner in the 28-nation European Union. Data from the Statistics Office seen by Reuters show that exports to Iran rose by 32.7 percent to 1.6 billion euros in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period last year. In 2013, they slumped by 26 percent and in the two previous years they fell by more than 18 percent.

AP-Washington Post: Iran General Said to Mastermind Iraq Ground War—When Islamic State militants retreated from the embattled town of Jurf al-Sakher last week, the Iraqi military was quick to flaunt a rare victory. State television showed tanks and Humvees parading through the town and soldiers touring government buildings that the Sunni extremist group had occupied since August. However, photos soon emerged on independent Iraqi news websites revealing a more discreet presence — the Iranian general Ghasem Soleimani, whose name has become synonymous with the handful of victories attributed to Iraqi ground forces. Local commanders said Lebanon’s Hezbollah Shiite militia group was also involved. The U.S. has awkwardly found itself on the same side as Iran and Hezbollah in the war against the Islamic State group, which rampaged across much of northern and western Iraq in June. While U.S. military advisers have been coordinating coalition airstrikes from within heavily fortified bases, Soleimani and his commanders are on the front lines and would assume a key role in the retaking of major cities.

Genesis 36: 40-43

40 Now these are the names of the chiefs descended from Esau, according to their families and their localities, by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth, 41chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, 42 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar, 43 chief Magdiel, chief Iram. 14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
