Zeke Miller—How Obama’s War Against ISIS Just Keeps Growing:

Barack Obama’s war against ISIS has come a long way from Sinjar Mountain.

It was six weeks ago, on Aug. 7, that the President announced his first airstrikes against the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS). It was a profound decision for a President long determined to avoid military action in the Middle East—and for a war-scarred country resistant to foreign interventions.

It was also the first of many incremental steps towards Monday night’s dramatic strikes in Syria—a piecemeal approach that suggests an improvised mission, and one whose objectives and justifications have repeatedly shifted over the past six weeks.

From a podium in the White House’s state dining room on the night of Aug. 7, Obama gravely described his authorization of two military operations. One was to stop ISIS’s advance on the Iraqi city of Erbil, which Obama described as a threat to Americans stationed there. The other was to rescue thousands of Yezidi people besieged by ISIS fighters atop Sinjar Mountain. “[W]hen we have the unique capabilities to help avert a massacre, then I believe the United States of America cannot turn a blind eye,” Obama said. “We can act, carefully and responsibly, to prevent a potential act of genocide.”

SnyderTalk Comment: War is the only way to deal with the Islamist problem.  We didn’t declare war on them.  They declared war on us.

This is the question: when will we admit the truth?

This is not our fight alone.  It’s also not the fight of a small coalition of countries.  It’s the whole world against radical Islam.  The longer we wait to take appropriate action, the harder it will be to do the job.

With ISIS fighters from the U.S. returning home, they have effectively brought the fight to us.  In due course, it will become obvious to everyone that we have no choice, and people will demand action.  We haven’t reached that point yet.

Zalman Shoval: Revival of the war on terror— “Obama faulted in terror fight, new poll finds,” The New York Times declared in one of its headlines last week. This conclusion was based on a survey conducted by the newspaper, which found that for the first time in his presidency, the majority of Americans disapprove of U.S. President Barack Obama’s policies on terrorism, and given a choice the American public prefers the Republicans’ policies on the issue rather than those of the Democrats. This sentiment may have a serious affect on the midterm elections for Congress, scheduled to take place in November.

SnyderTalk Comment: Despite the recent polls, most Americans still haven’t accepted the fact that our enemies are Obama’s Muslim brothers.  If they think that doesn’t matter, they are sadly mistaken.

Our president has allowed his personal opinions/preferences to trump reality and mountains of hard evidence at our expense.  The mid-term elections will be telling, but Obama has two more years in office no matter what happens in November.

With no more elections to worry about during his term in office, he can do anything he wants.  Will he?  Time will tell.

WCVB-5: Boston Now Focus of U.S.-Jihad pipeline to the Islamic State— The federal government is targeting Boston and two other American cities to shut down what they are calling the U.S.-Jihad pipeline to ISIS in an attempt to stop Americans from joining the terrorist organization, ABC News reported Monday. Efforts to shut down the pipeline will focus on Boston, Minneapolis and Los Angeles; cities from where a number of young recruits for ISIS training originated. Ahmad Abousamra, a dual American-Syrian citizen, who was born in France but grew up in Stoughton and attended Xaverian Brothers Catholic High School in Westwood before transferring to Stoughton High School during his senior year. Abousamra has been on the run from the FBI for years, and is suspected of joining ISIS and using his computer skills to spread ISIS’ messages on social media, according to ABC News.

Caroline Glick: A Prayer for 5775—Despite the dangers mounting all around us, as we approach Rosh Hashana 5775, for Jews in Israel, in many ways things have never been better. On Sunday night, President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke at the 10th-anniversary celebration marking the founding of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem. In his remarks, Rivlin described the impact of what he referred to as the “revolution” Menachem Begin led in Israeli society. Through his victory in the 1977 Knesset elections, which marked the end of the Labor Party’s monopoly on power, Rivlin explained, Begin began the process of expanding the definition of what it means to be an Israeli. Until Begin rose to the premiership, entire sectors of society, Mizrahim from Arab countries, new olim, religious Zionists and haredim had been shunned by the establishment. Begin changed that. Begin opened the doors to everyone, facilitating their entry into society on their own terms, transforming Israel from a melting pot, where everyone was supposed to aspire to become a member of the in-group, into a multicultural society, where all expressions of Israeli-ism were welcome.

Gill Gillespie and Shabnam Assadollahi: Iran—Still in the Axis of Evil— As Hassan Rouhani, the supposed “moderate” Iran President, is soon to visit New York to continue nuclear negotiations with the G5 + 1, it is important to remember that the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to be among the largest funders and promoters of terrorism worldwide, and remember as well the continuing human rights atrocities that the regime has committed against its people since it came into power in 1979. The West should not accept any compromise on shutting down Iran’s nuclear-weapons program or allow Iran any opportunity to blackmail the West into a compromise on it on the pretext of its “helping” to fight the Islamic State [IS]. Iran’s interference in Iraq has always been, and will always be, negative. In the same way as IS, Iran’s human rights atrocities against its own people should, by themselves, disqualify the regime from any part in negotiations either on Iraq or nuclear weapons capability.

Phillip Smyth: All the Ayatollah’s Men— Armed men posing with severed heads, massacres of mosque-goers during Friday prayers, massive reliance on transnational jihadists — these are crimes that are usually associated with the Islamic State (IS). However, they’re also the actions of some of Iraq’s growing Shiite militia organizations, which are playing an increasingly prominent role in fighting the Sunni jihadists. These groups, many of which have deep ideological and organizational links to Iran, are sweeping away what is left of any notion of the Baghdad government’s authority — and represent a massive challenge to President Barack Obama’s stated goal of working with an inclusive Iraqi government to push back IS. Over 50 Shiite militias are now recruiting and fighting in Iraq. These groups are actively recruiting — drawing potential soldiers away from the Iraqi army and police and bringing fighters into highly ideological, anti-American, and rabidly sectarian organizations. Many of these trainees are not simply being used to push back Sunni jihadists, but in many cases form a rear guard used to control districts that are supposedly under Baghdad’s control.

Uzay Bulut: Turkey’s ISIS problem— On August 4, 2013, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) and Jaish al-Muhajireen ‎wal-Ansar (JMA) launched a large-scale offensive in the Latakia countryside in Syria, ‎occupying more than 10 Alawite villages. According to Human Rights Watch, 190 civilians, ‎including 57 women and at least 18 children and 14 elderly men, were killed during the ‎attack. The massacre continued until August 18.‎ Human Rights Watch reported that five groups that were the key fundraisers, organizers, ‎planners, and executors of the attacks were clearly present from the outset of the operation on ‎August 4: Ahrar ash-Sham, ISIS, the Nusra Front, JMA, and Suqour al-Ezz. The Human Rights Watch report continued: “Given that most foreign fighters in these groups ‎reportedly gain access to Syria via Turkey, from which they also smuggle their weapons, ‎obtain money and other supplies, and retreat to for medical treatment, Turkey should increase ‎border patrols, restrict entry of fighters and arm flows to groups credibly found to be ‎implicated in systematic human rights violations.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Where Turkey’s participation in NATO is concerned, time is of the essence.  Unless Turkey does an enthusiastic about face, we have no choice but to tell them they are out of NATO.

Robert Spencer: Islamic State: Find U.S. soldiers’ homes, ‘show up and slaughter them’— A law enforcement bulletin obtained by FoxNews.com warned that Islamic State fighters have increased calls for “lone wolves” to attack U.S. soldiers in America in recent months, citing one tweet that called for jihadists to find service members’ addresses online and then “show up and slaughter them.” There will be “a continued call – by Western fighters in Syria and terrorist organizations – for lone offender attacks against U.S. military facilities and personnel,” warned a July law enforcement intelligence bulletin from the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange, a state-run agency that gathers, assesses and shares threat information and works with the Department of Homeland Security. “These threats will most likely increase should the U.S. or its allies attack the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) in Syria or Iraq.”

Dave Bender: US Weapons Reaching Hezbollah in Fight Against ISIS in Syria— While the United States considers Hezbollah a terrorist group, the two may be indirectly working together to keep ISIS fighters in Syria out of Lebanon, Israel’s NRG News reported Monday. A week after Hezbollah fighters repulsed ISIS forces in Arsal, in northern Lebanon, near the Syrian border, the US is reportedly sending weapons to the Lebanese army, in order to strengthen its abilities against ISIS. The American aid intended for Syria’s western neighbor, is based on the assumption that Hezbollah and the Lebanese army are collaborating, so it’s not unlikely that the US weapons are reaching the Shiite group, according to the report.

Farah Yousef: Autumn 2014: A View from Amman— Jordan has a history of opposing extremism and presents a model of co-existence and acceptance of others. However, the phenomenon of normalizing extremism that has recently begun to emerge can be linked to social injustice, economic marginalization, and the failure to find a just solution to the Palestinian issue. All of these issues affect the public mood, creating a strained environment that poses an advantage for extremist ideologies in the Middle East. Three areas could help preempt adverse developments in this regard. One, the international community should do its part to help Jordan cope with the huge economic and social burden of hosting refugees. Two, Jordanian and democratic values should be bolstered, among them pluralism, diversity, moderation, human rights, and rule of law, along with a commitment to reform. Three, steps should be taken to reach a just, comprehensive two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians in order to end the larger regional conflict and encourage security and stability.

Louis René Beres: The Jihadists’ Promise: Power over Death— Even after witnessing several beheadings and mass executions, American and Western strategists dealing with Jihadist terror still miss the key point. Whatever the particular terrorist group of the moment — the Islamic State [IS or ISIS], Hamas, al-Qaeda, or some other kindred terror organization — the core struggle is never really about territory, geography, or democracy. Always — in Iraq, Afghanistan Syria, or Gaza — this enemy seeks something far more important and compelling. In essence, Jihadi violence serves not only to advance the terrorist’s delusion of immortality, but also to add, however perversely, an apparent and desperately needed erotic satisfaction, using religion as the justification.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 31: 13-16

13 “‘I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth.’” 14 Rachel and Leah said to him, “Do we still have any portion or inheritance in our father’s house? 15 Are we not reckoned by him as foreigners? For he has sold us, and has also entirely consumed our purchase price. 16 Surely all the wealth which God has taken away from our father belongs to us and our children; now then, do whatever God has said to you.”

SnyderTalk Comment: The Messiah is speaking.  He is the manifestation of Yahweh, and He is Yahweh.  Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
