Burak Bekdil—Turkey: What Ally?:

The Turkish government “frankly worked” with the al-Nusrah Front, the al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, along with other terrorist groups.

The Financial Task Force, an international body setting the standards for combating terrorist financing, ruled that Turkey should remain in its “gray list.”

While NATO wishes to reinforce its outreach to democracies such as Australia and Japan, Turkey is trying to forge wider partnerships with the Arab world, Russia, China, Central Asia, China, Africa and — and with a bunch of terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, Ahrar al-Sham and the al-Nusrah Front.

Being NATO’s only Muslim member was fine. Being NATO’s only Islamist member ideologically attached to the Muslim Brotherhood is quite another thing.

Last week, the U.S. Secretaries of State and Defense, John Kerry and Chuck Hagel, were in the Turkish capital, one after the other, to ask for Turkey’s contribution to a coalition of allies in a U.S.-led war on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria [ISIS, aka The Islamic State].

Not only will Ankara take no military action, it will also forbid the U.S. from using a critical U.S. air base in southern Turkey to conduct strikes against the jihadist terrorists, the Turks told Messrs. Kerry and Hagel.

Earlier during the week, Turkey also abstained from signing a communiqué which Arab nations penned, seeking stronger action against ISIS.

Some call Turkey “a U.S. frenemy,” others refer to it as “NATO’s Qatar.” Unsurprisingly, on Sept. 9 the U.S. Congress delivered its staunchest warning to date that Turkey and Qatar could face financial and other penalties if they continue to support Hamas and other U.S.-designated terrorist organizations.

SnyderTalk Comment: Since Erdogan became Turkish prime minister more than a decade ago, Turkey has been moving away from the NATO alliance even though Turkey is a NATO member.  The sooner we put an end to Turkey’s NATO involvement the better.

No one in his right mind would include an Islamist state in a coalition that is at war with Islamists.

Mark Thiessen: Kerry fails his own test— When John Kerry ran for president in 2004, he dismissed the allies fighting alongside the United States in Iraq as a “trumped-up, so-called coalition of the bribed, the coerced, the bought and the extorted.” Now, as secretary of state, Kerry is going hat-in-hand to many of the same nations he insulted, asking them to join a U.S.-led coalition in Iraq. No wonder he’s having so much trouble. As Kerry lobbies potential coalition partners at the U.N. General Assembly meeting in New York this week, it is worth recalling how he offended the 30-plus nations that sent ground troops to fight alongside us in Iraq — including the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Australia, Romania, South Korea, Japan, Denmark, Bulgaria, Thailand, El Salvador, Hungary, Singapore, Norway, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mongolia, Latvia, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Albania, New Zealand, Tonga, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, the Philippines, Armenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina — plus the many others who supported the mission with basing, overflight and other crucial assistance.

IBD Editorial: Obama Must Start “Leading From Behind” His Generals— Top brass — both now serving and retired — say that President Obama’s strategy is likely to fail against the Islamic State. Clearly he has put his presidential legacy before our national security. Two weeks after his inauguration in 2009, the president visited second graders at Washington’s Capital City Public Charter School and told the kids, “You’re excellent listeners!” Mr. Obama, sadly, is not an excellent listener. But he does appreciate excellent listeners, like those second-graders — and the “sycophants” who work in his White House “cocoon,” as columnist Charles Krauthammer recently put it in a Hugh Hewitt radio interview.

Faith J. H. McDonnell: Unity With the Persecuted— Addressing the “In Defense of Christians” (IDC) summit on Wednesday morning, September 10, U.S. Representative Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI) declared that every “freedom-loving man, woman, and child must be engaged” in the fight to defend persecuted Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East. Would that members of the media, particularly Christian and/or conservative journalists, had actually been engaged in this fight to defend religious minorities for a while! If they had been, they would be able to write more knowledgeably about the scourge of global jihad. They would have had experience with U.S. political leaders that have actually given more than lip service to the issue of religious persecution. And they would have known that Texas Senator Ted Cruz is regarded as a strong advocate for persecuted Christians, as well as for Israel, by those of us who actually spend our days and years working on behalf of the persecuted.

Samuel Westrop: UK: More Taxpayer Funds Go to Extremist Charities—The British government is, incredibly, still continuing to fund charitable UK-based organizations with links to the Muslim Brotherhood, terrorist groups and domestic extremism. Simultaneously, lawmakers seem to be having trouble thinking of ways to tackle extremism and terrorist incitement within Britain’s Muslim communities. In early 2014, the Department for Communities and Local Government provided a grant of £18,000 ($29,000) to the Muslim Charities Forum [MCF], a charitable body and umbrella group for a number of leading Islamist charities, most of which are members of the Union of Good, a fundraising body established by the Muslim Brotherhood to raise money for the terror group Hamas. The MCF is made up of nine member organizations, all of which stand accused of funding terror or promoting extremism.

Mudar Zahran: Gazans Speak Out on Hamas War Crimes—Gazans spoke of Hamas atrocities and war crimes implicating Hamas in the civilian deaths of its own people. D said: “There were two major protests against Hamas during the third week of the war. When Hamas fighters opened fire at the protesters in the Beit Hanoun area and the Shijaiya, five were killed instantly. I saw that with my own eyes. Many were injured. A doctor at Shifa hospital told me that 35 were killed at both protests. He went and saw their bodies at the morgue.” S, a medical worker, said: “The Israeli army sends warnings to people [Gazans] to evacuate buildings before an attack….Hamas’ strict policy, though, was not to allow us to evacuate. Many people got killed, locked inside their homes by Hamas militants. Hamas’ official Al-Quds TV regularly issued warnings to Gazans not to evacuate their homes. Hamas militants would block the exits to the places residents were asked to evacuate.”

Nadav Shragai: Growing Unrest Among Palestinians in Jerusalem—Hundreds of Palestinian rioters have been arrested in eastern Jerusalem neighborhoods in recent weeks. In A-Tor, the dominant player behind the disturbances is Fatah. In Issawiya, it’s the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In Jabal Mukaber, it’s Hamas. In Shuafat, both Fatah and Hamas are in charge. Somebody is subsidizing the thousands of packs of fireworks that are being launched by the rioters. Their legal fees are covered by the Palestinian Authority. Hamas websites are calling it “the third intifada.” A group of Palestinians ambushed the Cohen family as they made their way to the Western Wall through Wadi Joz. In the French Hill neighborhood, a group set fire to a gas station. Palestinians in Shuafat have been firing on the Jewish neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev. In May, shots were fired at the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood. Shuafat residents said that armed gangs wielding handguns and AK-47 and M-16 rifles roam the streets. During their interrogation, some of the rioters said there is another layer of leadership beyond the local level that is guiding these events.

Omer Einav: From Gaza to Lebanon: Following Operation Protective Edge— With their respective processes of political evolution and military buildup, Hizbollah and Hamas have gradually assumed semi-state governmental characteristics. Particularly given the weakening of the regular armies in the region in recent years, they now represent the two main immediate threats to Israel. In the aftermath of Operation Protective Edge, therefore, Israel would do well to consider the significance of the recent round of fighting on a possible future campaign against Hizbollah. In other words, at issue is what Hizbollah can learn from the campaign in Gaza, and how this will affect the way it uses its power against Israel. Indeed, Israel must keep in mind the mutual learning between Hamas and Hizbollah, which grows with each round of conflict. As such, Israel’s policy toward one organization has significance for the other.

Dr. Haim Shine: A historical miracle— Ahead of Rosh Hashanah 5775, it was reported that more than 6 million Jews now live in Israel. This number has special significance in the modern history of the Jewish people. During the Holocaust, 6 million of our people were killed by the Nazis and their collaborators as part of an effort to finally resolve the “Jewish problem.” Many of my relatives died at Auschwitz and Stutthof. The Jewish people remain one family. None of those who survived the Holocaust could have imagined that one day the Jews would have their own independent country, with a well-trained and well-equipped army, ensuring that no one in the world could even think about taking away our right to live as a free people. We won thanks to the sacrifices of tens of thousands of fighters who gave their lives so we could reestablish ourselves in our ancient homeland. For many years, we were told that 6 million Jews live in the U.S. This was a baseless fabrication, meant to show that, even in the Diaspora, the people of Israel could be revived. Today, there are less than 3 million Jews in the U.S., and that number is declining at a horrific rate every year.

Arie Egozi: Israel Studies Iran’s Claim of Armed Hizbullah Drones—Israel has not yet verified claims that Hizbullah used an armed UAV to attack a target with a missile in Lebanon. “We see a target hit by something,” says Tal Inbar, a senior researcher at the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies in Israel. “I’m not sure what caused the explosion and I’m not sure where it was filmed.” The Israeli air force is preparing for a UAV attack in future confrontations.

Press TV-Iran: Chinese Warships Dock in Iran— The fleet, comprising a warship and a destroyer, docked on Saturday for the first time ever. The Chinese fleet docked into the Iranian territorial waters with the purpose of increasing interaction between the Islamic Republic and China. It was returning from a mission in the Gulf of Aden. On March 4, 2013, the 24th fleet of Iran’s Navy, comprising Sabalan destroyer and Kharg helicopter carrier, docked at China’s port city of Zhangjiagang after sailing 13,000 kilometers in 40 days. The Iranian Navy said in a statement on September 17 that Iran’s naval forces rescued a Chinese container ship from an attack by pirates in the Gulf of Aden. It added that five boats, each containing five armed pirates, attacked the Chinese ship, Xin Lian Yun Gang, in an attempt to hijack the vessel, but the Iranian Navy’s 31st fleet of war vessels foiled the move.

SnyderTalk Comment: According to the New York Times, Iran and China will conduct joint naval exercises in the Persian Gulf.  That’s an interesting development.

Muslims Refuse To Let Islamic State Hijack Their Religion

SnyderTalk Comment: This problem didn’t start with ISIS.  ISIS is just the latest iteration of a problem that’s been growing since the end of World War II.  In the late 1940s and 1950s, Israel was the target.

In the 1960s and 1970s, it was plane hijackings and mass slaughter aimed mostly at Israel and Jews.  In the 1980s and 1990s, it popped up all over Europe, especially in the Eastern Bloc.  In the late 1990s and early 2000s, it reached the United States.

Muslims allowed their religion to be hijacked a long time ago.  Now we have a problem to solve with or without the help of Muslims who were silent for so long but now are becoming vocal.

It’s a problem that we must solve because our lives depend on it.  If Muslims want to help, fine, but they will have to do more than talk and issue press releases.  As they say, talk is cheap.

I used to tell my Muslim students that I feared for their safety because the world would eventually wake up and defend itself.  When that happens, I told them, many people will make no attempt to distinguish between “good Muslims” and “bad Muslims”.

That day is rapidly approaching.  In fact, it may be here already.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 31: 8-12

8 “If he spoke thus, ‘The speckled shall be your wages,’ then all the flock brought forth speckled; and if he spoke thus, ‘The striped shall be your wages,’ then all the flock brought forth striped. 9 Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock and given them to me. 10 And it came about at the time when the flock were mating that I lifted up my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which were mating were striped, speckled, and mottled. 11 Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’ 12 He said, ‘Lift up now your eyes and see that all the male goats which are mating are striped, speckled, and mottled; for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you.’”

SnyderTalk Comment: The Angel of God referred to here is the Messiah.  He is the manifestation of Yahweh.  Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
