Henry Kissinger—The World in Flames:

In the spring of 1947 Hassan al-Banna, an Egyptian watchmaker, schoolteacher and widely read self-taught religious activist, addressed a critique of Egyptian institutions to King Farouk. It offered an Islamic alternative to the secular state.

In studiedly polite yet sweeping language al-Banna outlined the principles and aspirations of the Egyptian Society of Muslim Brothers (known colloquially as the Muslim Brotherhood), the organisation he had founded in 1928 to combat what he saw as the degrading effects of foreign influence and secular ways of life.

The West, al-Banna asserted, “which was brilliant by virtue of its scientific perfection for a long time . . . is now bankrupt and in decline. Its foundations are crumbling and its institutions and guiding principles are falling apart.” Though he did not use the terms, al-Banna was arguing that what is known as the “Westphalian” world order had lost both its legitimacy and its power.

No truly global “world order” has ever existed. What passes for order in our time was devised nearly 400 years ago at a peace conference in the German region of Westphalia after a century of conflict across central Europe. It relied on a system of independent states refraining from interference in one another’s domestic affairs and checking one another’s ambitions through an equilibrium of power.

The Westphalian system spread round the world as the framework for a state-based international order spanning multiple civilisations and regions, because as the European nations expanded they carried its blueprint with them. Al-Banna was announcing that the opportunity to create a new world order based on Islam had arrived.

13--Perspectives 2

Caroline Glick: President Sisi’s gift— Something extraordinary has happened. On August 31, PLO chief and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told an audience of Fatah members that Egypt had offered to give the PA some 1,600 kilometers of land in Sinai adjacent to Gaza, thus quintupling the size of the Gaza Strip. Egypt even offered to allow all the so-called “Palestinian refugees” to settle in the expanded Gaza Strip. Then Abbas told his Fatah followers that he rejected the Egyptian offer. On Monday Army Radio substantiated Abbas’s claim. According to Army Radio, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi proposed that the Palestinians establish their state in the expanded Gaza Strip and accept limited autonomy over parts of Judea and Samaria.

Indo Asian News Service: Iran Vows to Free Al-Aqsa Mosque from Israel—Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani Monday vowed to liberate the Al-Aqsa mosque in the old city of Jerusalem from the Israeli forces and spare no efforts to help the Palestinian people, state-owned Press TV reported. “The administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, like in the past, will use all tools at its disposal to save Al-Aqsa mosque and liberate the first Qibla (point of direction to which Muslims turn for prayers) of Muslims,” Rouhani said at a conference on World Mosque Day in Tehran.

Samuel Westrop—UK: Iran Looking to Recruit British Shi’ite Jihadists: Officials of the Iranian regime’s network of groups in Britain have called upon British Shi’ites to join the jihad against Sunni Islamist forces in Iraq. The Ahlul Bayt Islamic Mission [AIM], one of the most prominent Shi’ite organizations in Britain, has published on its website an “Urgent Call,” which states: “We must be ready to sacrifice, leave everything behind us and run for the defense of truth and its supporters, representatives, and relics. The Jihad ul Asghar (minor jihad) must also be accompanied by Jihad ul Akbar (bigger jihad) so that we prepare ourselves spiritually and deserve the honor of defending Islam. Every man must be ready to join the armed forces and every woman must urge the male members of her family to go seek this noble cause and do anything she can to serve this cause … May Allah (SWT) enable us to put our words into actions and to defend Islam and its principles till our last breathe and drop of blood!” Thus far, only Britain’s Sunni Muslims are known to have joined the fighting in Syria and Iraq, where many have already signed up with ISIS. In June, however, a Shi’ite Muslim living in London told the Guardian, “There are a lot of youth talking about [going out to Iraq] … A lot of people [in the UK] are willing to defend Karbala. And to be honest with you, if my son was of a much older age and he turned around to me and said, ‘Look, I want to go and fight,’ I’d send him on his way.”

Khaled Abu Toameh: Big Media Ignores Hamas’s “Ugliest Crimes”— During the recent war in the Gaza Strip, armed Hamas militias committed the ugliest crimes and violations. This charge did was not made by the Israeli Government Press Office or the Israel Defense Forces spokesman. Rather, it was Palestinians who made this charge – and not just ordinary ones. Leaders of the ruling Fatah faction in the West Bank made the charge against Hamas in a strongly worded statement that was issued in Ramallah on August 30. The statement refers to Hamas’s crackdown on dozens of Fatah members in the Gaza war during Operation Protective Edge – the name used by the IDF to describe the war with the Islamist movement. The Fatah leaders – members of the faction’s Central Committee, a body dominated by supporters of Palestinian Authority [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas – accused Hamas militiamen of shooting dozens of their activists in the Gaza Strip in the legs and other parts of the body.

Douglas Murray: “Dangerous Laws”— It is more than six years since the then Archbishop of Canterbury gave what history will surely understand to be one of the most destructive speeches in modern Britain. The contents of Rowan Williams’s 2008 speech talked of allowing a place for competing religious demands, including sharia law, in a multi-faith society. The next day he clarified matters. In an interview with the BBC, he said there would “inevitably” be a place for sharia law in Britain and that (more importantly) the idea of there being “one law for all” in a country such as Britain seemed to him “dangerous.”

Marc Weitzmann: Ilan Halimi’s Tortured Ghost Will Continue Haunting France—The trap that would lead to the abduction, torture, and murder of Ilan Halimi was set in the winter of 2006 on Boulevard Voltaire in Paris, a few blocks from where I live. In the months prior, kids from one of the toughestcités, Bagneux—who called themselves, Clockwork Orange-style, “the gang of the Barbarians”—had repeatedly tried to abduct people for ransom. Led by a 27-year-old first offender named Youssouf Fofana, the fifth child of Ivory Cost migrants, the gang members were between 16 to 26 years old and ethnically diverse. They set up their prospective victims in a particular way: A girl, selected by Fofana, would get in touch with some man for a date and ask him to bring her back into the suburb after their appointment. As a diversion for the cops, the youngest members of the gang would set fire to a car, while the others would jump on the potential victim.

David A. Harris: 4 Contemporary Lessons from the Second World War— Exactly 75 years ago today, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, which valiantly sought to resist the onslaught, but was overwhelmed by the numerically and technologically superior invading army. Two days later, on September 3, 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany. The history of the ensuing years, until the day of Germany’s surrender on May 8, 1945, has been extraordinarily well documented. Over the course of nearly six years of battle on the European continent – not to mention other key military theaters in North Africa, the Middle East, and, of course, Asia – an estimated 50-60 million people were killed, and tens of millions more were injured, left homeless, or exiled. Six million Jews, including one-and-a-half million children, were among the victims. Nearly half came from Poland, while other once-vibrant Jewish communities from Lithuania to Greece were almost totally wiped out.

Anat Berko: Israel is the Safest Place for an Arab in the Middle East— A while ago we went to get the car fixed in one of the Arab villages in Israel’s northern coastal plain near where my husband was born. The area is a microcosm of Jewish-Arab coexistence, characterized by the kind of easy relations between good neighbors. The repair shop is run by a man named Muhammad, who welcomed us into his office and offered us Turkish coffee with cardamom, in the best Arab tradition. Despite the complex situation in the Gaza Strip, there was no tension in the air. The day we went was typical of the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip. At that point, the Palestinian terrorist organization ruling the Gaza Strip had attacked Israel, Jewish and Arab civilians alike, with a daily average of 100+ rockets (to say nothing of the terrorist tunnels Hamas dug and planned to use on the Jewish New Year in a massive, simultaneous attack on the kibbutzim around the Gaza Strip). The overall situation might have influenced Muhammad, but nothing of the drama in the south was reflected in the way he received us, which was, as usual, courteous and friendly.

Bassam Tawil: Hamas’s War Crimes and Crimes against Islam— There is no horror more appalling than forcing the Gazan population to endure the stockpiling of rockets in mosques, the construction of tunnels under their kitchens, the situating of terrorist headquarters under their hospitals and the perverted use made of UNRWA facilities (some of whose personnel collaborated with Hamas and willingly concealed weapons). The West must disband UNRWA. The tragedy is that the Gazans, in fear of their lives from Hamas terrorists, are afraid to protest. Hama leaders should be tried for war crimes, and Abbas should remember that since he heads the national consensus government with Hamas, he himself is liable to be tried in the Hague for the war crimes Hamas has committed against the Israelis. Why is the Oslo II Agreement of 1995, assuring the complete disarmament of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, even being renegotiated, and why was it not implemented in the first place? As Qatar is a country without a people and the Palestinians are a people without a country, Qatar should be turned into the national home for the Palestinians, “Palestine.”

Burak Bekdil: How to Be “A Disgrace to Humanity” in Turkey— “Who is going to protect me from the police?” Fact-checking and accuracy are not typically the journalistic concepts embraced by the Turkish Islamist daily, Yeni Akit. Incidentally, Yeni Akit always found a seat aboard President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s private jet during his travels abroad. “A Disgrace to Humanity,” is the title of an Islamist newspaper in Turkey, Yeni Akit, and also apparently deemed fit to describe this columnist after the first two parts of “Sorry to Remind You ‘Once’ Again – but Golda Meir Was Right” were published in the English-language Turkish daily, Hurriyet Daily News. The story in Yeni Akit accused me “of criticizing Turkey’s defense industry and legitimizing Israel’s every attack on Palestinians.” But Turkish Islamists, though unwillingly, can create humor too. Yeni Akit‘s story went on to say that this columnist once “claimed” that the Turks had invaded Istanbul. Claimed?! Funny, it is the same Islamists who on every May 29 celebrate the “Conquest of Istanbul” with spectacular fanfare. This year was the 561st anniversary – unless the Turkish jihadists mysteriously believe Constantinople was the Turks’ birthplace in Central Asia.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 28: 18-22

18 So Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on its top. 19 He called the name of that place Bethel; however, previously the name of the city had been Luz. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me food to eat and garments to wear, 21 and I return to my father’s house in safety, then Yahweh will be my God. 22 This stone, which I have set up as a pillar, will be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Do you see why the stone and the place are so important?  Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
