King of the Mountain with Live Ammo

I have a simple question for people who support Hamas and other Islamist organizations: do you know why Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is fighting ISIS in Iraq?  After all, they are all Muslims.

Islamist groups come in many varieties.  Think of them as denominations in Christianity or sects in Judaism, but there is a significant difference between Islamists who disagree among themselves and Christians and Jews who disagree among themselves.  Each Islamist group believes that it knows all the truth perfectly and that if you don’t see things their way, you deserve to die.  Not just die, but be butchered and put on public display as an object lesson for kids.

Many Westerners mistakenly believe that Islamists only hate the West, Israel, and Jews.  That’s regrettable and absolutely not true.  They hate each other even more.  So, what binds them together?

Is it the Quran?  No.  It can’t be.  They all say that they believe in the Quran but they slaughter each other every day and video their debauchery for keepsakes.  They even publish their barbarism on YouTube as a form of entertainment.  Therefore, it must be something else.  What is it?

It boils down to two words: hate and Israel.  Hate is the common thread tying Hamas, Fatah, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, ISIS, and other Islamist groups together.  It infects everything they say and do.  Hate to Islamists is like water to most humans.  They need it to survive.  Next to hate in general, hate for Israel in particular binds them together.  Just about the only thing that can cause them to stop hating each other and everybody else temporarily is hate for Israel, but that’s just a respite and nothing more.

Frequently, Islamists join forces to fight Israel.  The most recent conflict is one of many examples, but it’s not a perfect example.  Most Arab nations and other Islamist groups have had enough of Hamas, and their leaders were hoping that Israel would destroy them.  Even hate master and Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah refrained from helping Hamas.  That speaks volumes.

As soon as Islamists get their butts beat, they declare victory and resume fighting each other and everybody else.  Here’s proof: when Israel started withdrawing troops from Gaza a few days ago, Hamas declared victory.  Completely forgotten were their pleas for help, decimation of a terror tunnel system that cost a fortune, an obliterated military infrastructure, and the fact that their Islamist brothers refused to join the fight.  Think of it as a hybrid form of delusion.

One Israeli journalist was fired during Operation Protective edge for explaining that genocide may be the only solution to the “Hamas problem”, or words to that effect.  I don’t think he meant that genocide was a realistic or desirable option.  The history of Jewish people all but precludes that possibility.  I believe he was simply pointing out that as long as there are Arab Muslims in the world, there will be people who think that Israel and Jews should be annihilated.  That’s spot on.  His choice of words was wrong.

This is the appalling truth: if Islam was the only religion in the world and everyone had to be a Muslim, Islamists would kill each other.  Carried to the logical extreme, they would continue killing each other until there was only one man or woman left alive because 2 people don’t agree on everything no matter how close they are.  Think of it as the ultimate zero sum game.

This is another way to think about Islamism: it’s like the kid’s game King of the Mountain played with live ammo.  That’s what is taking place right now all over the world.  The difference between King of the Mountain and this game is that you’re in it whether you want to be or not.  So this is the question that non-Islamists need to answer: will we defend ourselves or will we gamble that the game won’t reach us?

Before you answer, here’s a hint: 9/11.  If that doesn’t help, here’s another one: Fort Hood.  If that’s not enough, try this one: Mosul.  You shouldn’t need more assistance than that, but if you do, you may want to consult a psychiatrist.

Peter Martino: The New Nazism’s First Victim: Truth— When the Turkish neighbors of Leah Rabinovitch, a Jewish woman in Amsterdam, adorned their apartment with a Palestinian flag, she did the same with an Israeli flag. Leah lives in a neighborhood where 48% of the population is of non-Western origin – many of them Muslims. Stones were thrown through her windows, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at her balcony and an anonymous letter was put in her letter box. “Hitler will be back. Death to the Jews,” it said.

Rabbi Tzvi Gluckin: The Hamas Miracle— A lot of my religious friends are talking about miracles. “How can it be?” They say. “Thousands of rockets are raining down on Israel! The number of dead should be much higher! The amount of damage is minimal!” And they are right. It is miraculous. Rockets miss their targets. They miss populated areas. The wind blows them off course. My friends argue about the Iron Dome, too. “MIT said Iron Dome doesn’t work. Too many rockets slip through, and yet – a miracle – they miss their targets. Iron Dome’s failures are a sure sign of God’s love.” They even quote Hamas. “Our rockets are good,” says Hamas. “Obviously their God loves them.” Wow. Impressive.

Ofir Winter: Operation Protective Edge: Hamas’ Propaganda War— In the course of Operation Protective Edge, Hamas used several media to disseminate propaganda, including al-Aqsa and al-Jazeera television, websites, Facebook pages, and text messages. These have served as platforms for messages to four target audiences: an internal Palestinian audience, an Arab audience, an international audience, and an Israeli audience. Indeed, the struggle for public opinion plays an important role in efforts by Hamas to mobilize domestic, Arab, and international support for its actions, shape awareness of the campaign in accordance with its objectives, and influence the relevant actors. Hamas’ propaganda maneuvers vis-à-vis the various target audiences reveal tensions between the group’s drive to appear to the outside world as the victim and its effort to maintain the appearance of strength, control, and ability to govern domestically.

Michael Doran: What Was He Thinking?— On Friday July 25, as war raged in Gaza, John Kerry delivered a draft ceasefire agreement to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who then presented it to his security cabinet for consideration. Because the proposal granted Hamas a significant political victory—acquiescing, up front, in a number of the terrorist group’s key demands while failing even to mention Israel’s two primary concerns of infiltration tunnels and rockets—the ministers unanimously rejected it. When unnamed officials leaked the document to Israel’s habitually left-leaning press, along with an account of the government’s thinking, a firestorm of indignation erupted—not, however, at Netanyahu but at the American Secretary of State. The views of one highly respected journalist were typical. Kerry’s proposal, he wrote, “raises serious doubts over his judgment. . . . It’s as if he isn’t the foreign minister of the world’s most powerful nation but an alien who just disembarked his spaceship in the Middle East.”

Khaled Abu Toameh: Palestinians: United Against Israel— Despite predictions to the contrary, the unity agreement between Fatah and Hamas seems not only alive and well, but stronger than ever. Over the past month, the two parties have been waging separate wars against Israel – one (Hamas) on the battlefield and the second (Fatah) in the international arena. At the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, political analysts predicted that the unity agreement that was signed between Hamas and Fatah last April would be one of the war’s first victims. During the war, however, Fatah and Hamas refrained from criticizing each other, as they have been doing ever since they signed the unity agreement. Palestinian Authority [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also head of Fatah, took advantage of the war to launch scathing attacks on Israel, accusing it of perpetrating war crimes and genocide.

Hussein Ibish: For Hamas, War in Gaza Is a Step toward the West Bank—A primary aim of Hamas has been to establish itself as the principal Palestinian diplomatic and political address for Gaza, placing it on a par with the PA in Ramallah. The inclusion of Hamas and Islamic Jihad members in a Fatah-led delegation to Cairo for cease-fire talks could be seen as a step forward for the militants. So can the U.S. seeking to use the good offices of Turkey and Qatar as leverage with Hamas, at the expense of the PA and Egypt.

Jonathan Spyer: Netanyahu’s ‘Long War’ Doctrine— As a number of former senior Israeli officials pointed out in the course of Operation Protective Edge, Jerusalem had only two possible strategic options to choose from as it entered this fight. The first involved seeking to inflict serious damage on Hamas’s military capabilities in an operation limited in scope. The goal of such a course of action would be to achieve deterrence against Hamas. Implicit in this option is that, at its conclusion, the Hamas authority in Gaza would still be in existence — chastened, but alive. The second, more ambitious option would have been to have pushed on into the Gaza Strip, and to have destroyed the Hamas authority there. This would have resembled Operation Defensive Shield in 2002. Israeli forces would have needed to remain in Gaza for months, or years, in order to suppress and destroy the continued guerrilla resistance which Hamas and other Palestinian groups would no doubt have undertaken.

Soeren Kern: Catalonia to Muslims: Support Independence, Get Mega-Mosque: Qatar to Fund Third-Largest Mosque in the World— Muslim leaders in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia say they have been promised a mega-mosque in Barcelona if they support independence from Spain in a referendum set for November 9. Officials from the Catalonia’s ruling Convergence and Union Party (CiU) are seeking the ballots of all of the roughly 100,000 Muslims in the region who are eligible to vote. “If you support us in the referendum, there will be a mosque,” CiU officials are said to have promised Muslim leaders, according to Spanish media. The mega-mosque in question is said to involve a 2.2 billion euro ($3 billion) project to convert a historic bullfighting stadium in Barcelona into the third-largest mosque in the world, after those in Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Alan M. Dershowitz: The empty spaces in Gaza— How many times have you heard on television or read in the media that the Gaza Strip is “the most densely populated area in the world”? Repeating this statement, however, does not make it true. There are dense parts of Gaza, especially Gaza City, Beit Hanoun and Khan Younis, but there are far less dense areas in Gaza between these cities. Just look at Google Earth, or this population density map.

Daniel Estrin: War In Gaza Tests Israel’s Tolerance For Dissent—While fighting between Israel and Gaza militants rages on for a fourth week, there’s another war being fought among Israelis themselves — a war on speech. The nation is proud of its tolerance for free expression. But some Israelis critical of the war say their views are under attack; others say the dissent has gone too far. If there’s one place in Israel where you’d expect anti-war demonstrations to be tolerated, it’s bohemian Tel Aviv. But last Saturday night, human rights activist Avi Blecherman and a friend were coming home from a protest when three Israelis pounced on them in the stairwell. “And then they just told me, you know, ‘You’re a leftist. You’re a traitor,’ ” he says. “And then they just pushed me to this door over there and started beating me and the woman that was with me. Head, chest, arms, legs.” They were fine, but Blecherman is still shaken. “Something really, really bad is happening to the Israeli society,” he says. “It will stay here with us even after the war is ending.”

SnyderTalk Comment: The Israeli government isn’t cracking down on free speech.  The Israeli people are venting their frustration with their fellow citizens who take advantage of the freedoms they enjoy by taking sides against those who risk their lives to protect those freedoms.

It can happen in the U.S.  I believe that it will happen here.  One day, people who pay taxes will reach the tipping point, and they will lash out at those who live off the government and complain that they need more, more, more ad infinitum.

The executives at NPR should know better than most that every person and organization can be criticized.  It looks to me as though they are simply looking for something to criticize.  I’m no fan of Juan Williams, but NPR should consider these questions: why was Juan Williams fired and why did the editor who fired him resign?

People who think that freedom of speech is being threatened in Israel should visit Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and the West Bank.  They will find out soon enough that speaking your mind can cost you your life, and the government will do the killing.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 24: 22-27

22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half-shekel and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels in gold, 23 and said, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room for us to lodge in your father’s house?” 24 She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.” 25 Again she said to him, “We have plenty of both straw and feed, and room to lodge in.” 26 Then the man bowed low and worshiped Yahweh. 27 He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His lovingkindness and His truth toward my master; as for me, Yahweh has guided me in the way to the house of my master’s brothers.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
