i24 News—Israeli army prepares for the day after the tunnels:

The Israeli army is expected to conclude within 24 hours the task of destroying the assault tunnel network and will settle in defensive lines within the Gaza Strip, up to three kilometers deep, while narrowing down numbers in Gaza and returning them to Israeli territory. The destruction of the tunnels is the official objective of the ground incursion, as per the decision of the Israeli security cabinet. Overall, 31 tunnels of various depths – some reaching 25-30 meters deep and some having multiple entrances – will be destroyed.

Hamas invested tens of millions of dollars and the Israeli army destroyed them in 14 days. Hundreds of Hamas’ people were involved in their construction, including simple workers – the diggers, the work managers and the specialists. Some tunnels had rooms and most sophisticated fighting equipment including motorcycles, Kevlar vests that awaited the Hamas militants, weaponry – including RPG launchers, food, etc. Even the tunnel in which 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin was taken captive was one that led into Israel and it was two and a half kilometers long, although as far as it is known he was taken westward by his captors.

Some of the tunnels were exposed using early intelligence and some by intelligence gained during the fighting or evidence found on the ground. The army knew about the tunnels for years and has given them much thought at least over the past 18 months, while examining any existing technology, including international cooperation with the United States and other countries. However, so far no technology or method that could lead to their discovery was found efficient enough.

SnyderTalk Comment: Hoping for international cooperation led by the United States under Barack Obama was not the wise thing to do.  I am thankful that Prime Minister Netanyahu has reached the tipping point in his dealings with Obama and Kerry.

SnyderTalk Comment: ISIS knows how to deal with recalcitrant Christians in Syria—those who refuse to convert to Islam.  This victim’s name is Antoine Hanna.  He’s a kid. He was crucified on July 24, 2014.

Please, no one email me to tell me that this picture is too gruesome to publish in SnyderTalk.  Americans may see this kind of thing in their towns in real life if they don’t wake up.

SnyderTalk Comment: Glock 23 is a great pistol.  If I could have only one, it would be a Glock 23.  Whether you agree or disagree, buy a pistol if you don’t have one already.  A pistol in the hand is better than a cop on the phone, and when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.  Those clichés are underused, especially now.

Israel Defense Forces: Captured Hamas Combat Manual Explains Benefits of Human Shields—IDF forces in the Gaza Strip found a Hamas manual on “Urban Warfare,” which belonged to the Shuja’iya Brigade of Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. The manual explains how the civilian population can be used against IDF forces and reveals that Hamas knows the IDF is committed to minimizing harm to civilians.

SnyderTalk Comment: I am ashamed that the IDF had to find that document and report it, because it is patently obvious.  But I understand why they are doing it.  An imbecile should be able to see it especially since we have video footage of Hamas firing rockets from hospitals, mosques, and schools, but that’s not enough for large number of brain-dead morons in the world.  They have made up their minds and facts don’t matter.  I just wish they understood that they are complicit in Hasmas’ actions because their support in an important reason why Hamas uses human shields.

Be that as it may, I don’t think Yahweh will accept this kind of stupidity much longer.  There will be a payday.

Aaron David Miller: Cease-Fire between Israel, Hamas Failed Because U.S. Misread Reality—It is Hamas’ military wing – the Boys in the Gaza Bunkers – not the politicians outside like Khaled Meshaal, who are calling the shots in this war. These guys think they’re winning; aren’t ready to deescalate. U.S./UN mediators relied on assurances from Qatar that Hamas agreed to the cease-fire when common sense and good analysis argued otherwise. This effort at a cease-fire failed in large part because the U.S. misread reality. The writer is vice president at the Wilson Center in Washington.

SnyderTalk Comment: I agree with Miller’s conclusion, but I have a slightly different take on what happened.  From my perspective, the most important outcome of Operation Protective Edge is that Prime Minister Netanyahu finally has had enough of Obama and Kerry, and he said so publically in so many words.  It was the failure of the cease-fire that pushed Netanyahu over the line.  I just wish that he and Defense Minister Ya’alon would speak candidly more often, because I’m sick and tired of hearing so-called “Israel experts” in the U.S. tell ignorant listeners that Netanyahu really gets along with Obama and that under Obama the U.S. has Israel’s back.  Both of those statements so far off the mark that they are laughable.  Problem is that many people in the U.S. believe them.

Herb Keinon: The diplomatic war begins—The latest round in Israel’s ongoing military battle is seemingly over. Now the diplomatic war begins. And this is a war that will be grueling, extend for a longer period than just four weeks, and be fought on various fronts. Israel has, historically, done far better on the battlefield than in the diplomatic arena that follows its wars. This was true in 1949, when Israel won the War of Independence but could not convert that into any form of acceptance in the region. It was true in 1967, when the resounding, lightning victory in the Six Day War was met by the Arab world’s famous “three no’s” at Khartoum.

SnyderTalk Comment: 1967 is the best example.  Israel regained control of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.  To placate Muslims, they allowed them to have day-to-day control instead of taking it over, too.  That was a huge mistake as the weekly riots on the Temple Mount make clear.  By the way, did you know that Muslims store rocks inside al Aqsa Mosque in preparation for those riots?  Well, they do, and who knows what else they store in there for other occasions.

Mick Krever: Israeli Public Sees Gaza Operation as a “War of No Choice”—International condemnation of Israel’s conduct in its offensive against Hamas in Gaza seems to have totally backfired in Israel, New York Times Jerusalem Bureau Chief Jodi Rudoren told CNN. The Israeli public is overwhelmingly supportive of the operation in Gaza – 95% according to a recent poll by the Israel Democracy Institute. “It’s just reinforced this notion that nobody outside of Israel really understands what they’re going through, that they’re surrounded by enemies, and that they have no choice but to defend themselves.” There is serious palpable fear here, particularly from the threat of the tunnels that go into Israel from Gaza, through which there have been several attempted attacks during this war. And also of course from the ongoing rocket fire, which they have been dealing with for thirteen years now, and has become much, much more intense and also much, much more widespread within Israel.” Israelis see the operation as “the war of no choice.”

The Australian Editorial: The Gaza War Is Not a PR Battle—After more than 2,670 rocket and mortar attacks from Gaza in three weeks, some of which misfired and killed Palestinians, Israel will exercise its right to defend its citizens. Strategically and economically, the Palestinian people are far worse off now than they were two decades ago when then Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization chairman Yasser Arafat signed the first Oslo accord in Washington in September 1993. The Palestinians acknowledged the State of Israel and pledged to reject violence, while Israel recognized the PLO as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, to be a partner in further negotiations for at least five years. Unfortunately, Arafat and Abbas passed up their chances to accept bold compromise deals from subsequent Israeli leaders. Palestinians must grasp the reality that however many women and children Hamas sacrifices, Israel has the might to defend itself. It is a proud nation, it is not going anywhere and nor should it. Hamas, Hizbullah and other terrorists are in fantasy land if they imagine they can wipe it off the map, which is their driving ambition.

El Medio: Gaza: Hamas Are the Terrorists—A letter by the former presidents of Peru (Alejandro Toledo), Uruguay (Luis Alberto Lacalle), and former government officials in Europe opposes the actions of Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil in recalling their ambassadors to Israel, saying “the manipulation of information in Latin America regarding the current conflict in Gaza…intoxicates the citizens” and “inspires wrong and reprehensible policies.” “Israel didn’t start this war. The Jewish State is responding to the constant barrage of rockets and mortars from Gaza falling in Israel.” “Hamas is…a terrorist organization designated as such by the U.S. State Department and the European Union and Hamas’ foundational charter…calls for the annihilation of the State of Israel and the death of all Jews.” “Any cease-fire that politically rewards Hamas’ armed aggression is a strategic mistake. If there’s a real desire for peace, the terror infrastructure must be dismantled in Gaza: Tunnels, rockets, weapons factories.” “It’s an aberration to establish moral equivalence between the two contending parties. Because, on the one hand is terror, the fanatical Islamist tyranny, and the cult of death, while on the other hand is freedom, prosperity, and the defense of life. Barbarism and civilization cannot be at the same level.”

SnyderTalk Comment: If you don’t read Spanish or have Google Translate, this article won’t mean much to you, but I wanted to post it anyway.

Eyal Zisser: Hamas Lost Big—In 2007, Hamas became the first Islamic movement to overpower an existing Arab government. The Arab Spring allowed Islamic groups to seize the reins of power in Egypt and Tunisia. But Hamas is the only Islamic movement that has managed to stay in power. The Muslim Brotherhood has shown it is inept at governing. After rising to the top, the Islamists failed to demonstrate that they had what it took to run a country. Hamas’ 7-year rule over Gaza has been just as bad. Provoking Israel resulted in a calamity of unimaginable proportions. The operation has shrunk Hamas to its proper dimensions. It has now been reduced to a terrorist organization whose political wing has brought about destruction and ruin for its sympathizers.

Daniel Siryoti: Palestinian Official: “Another Month of War Will Put Gaza Back in the Dark Ages”—Each day that passes reveals the destruction throughout Gaza. Many areas are in ruins, with hundreds of public edifices, over 1,000 residential buildings, and more than 40 mosques nearly destroyed, according to reports from the Gaza Interior Ministry. A senior Palestinian official said that many public buildings, as well as much of the water, sewage, electricity, and telephone infrastructure, had been wrecked entirely or severely damaged. “Should we say that the Gaza Strip has gone back 100 years? Many parts of the Strip are dust and another month of war will put Gaza back in the Dark Ages. People don’t have homes to return to. The infrastructure has been totally destroyed,” the official said.

SnyderTalk Comment: Palestinians, both Hamas and Fatah, are delusional.  The statement about another month of war putting Gaza back in the Dark Ages is a perfect example.  Gaza has been in the Dark Ages since Hamas took control in 2005.  The West Bank is not much better under Fatah leadership.  Did you know that it is illegal for Palestinians to sell land to Jews in the West Bank no matter what the price?  Violating that law is a capital offense.  That’s exactly right.  The Palestinian Authority will kill you if you sell land to a Jew.  Still think peace is possible?

Griff Witte and Sudarsan Raghavan: Israel Is Telling Hamas that They’re Not Going to Get Anything— Israel plans to finish its latest Gaza campaign on its own terms, without negotiating a deal with Hamas. By rejecting further talks, “Israel is telling Hamas that they’re not going to get anything,” said Amos Yadlin, a former head of Israel’s military intelligence division. Hamas “will tell themselves a victory story. But this horrible situation in Gaza will be on their hands.”

SnyderTalk Comment: This is the best thing possible to do short of eliminating Hamas.  Gazans will get the message even when Hamas declares “victory” as they always do.

Yoav Zitun: Senior IDF Official: We Left Hamas in Power—The IDF did not take over Gaza or completely destroy Hamas in order to leave the organization in power, a senior IDF source said on Sunday. “There’s an Israeli interest to have one address in Gaza, we don’t want a Somalization in the Strip, but rather one group to enforce its control of the Strip. This is why the collapse of Hamas was not defined as one of the objectives,” the senior source said. “We wanted to have an address on the other side on the day after. This address could be the enforcer against militants and take care of its citizens.” He asserted that Hamas wanted to stop the fighting and said the current operation in Gaza will lead to a “longer window of security.” “The objective is to change the reality from its very core, so we don’t have mutual fire in two months. We need to have a balance of hope in the Strip and a balance of security in Israel.” Now that “deterrence has been achieved,” the source said he hopes the cease-fire agreement reached will be different to ones signed previously.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 24: 10-14

10 Then the servant took ten camels from the camels of his master, and set out with a variety of good things of his master’s in his hand; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor. 11 He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at evening time, the time when women go out to draw water. 12 He said, “O Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham.13 Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water; 14 now may it be that the girl to whom I say, ‘Please let down your jar so that I may drink,’ and who answers, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels also’—may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
