Prof. Louis René Beres—More Than Ever, Israel Must Rely Upon Itself:

In his recent public remarks about American foreign policy, and U.S.-Israeli relations, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon simply stated the obvious. Under no circumstances, Ya’alon correctly maintained, should Israel ever consent to sub-contracting its core national security obligations to the United States.

This assertion was not meant to suggest that Israel and the U.S. should in any way depart from their long and mutually gainful relationship on vital defense matters. On the contrary, it represented a thoroughly prudent extrapolation from American President Barack Obama’s own declared views of the Middle East.

In essence, whatever else might be disclaimed in Washington, Mr. Obama still subscribes to the most narrowly Palestinian narrative of an Israeli “occupation.”  Without any intended prejudice against the orthodox Israeli account of pertinent history and law, he somehow remains convinced that this protracted regional struggle between an existing Jewish State, and an aspiring (23rd) Arab state, concerns two equally-reasonable claims. Accordingly, in the President’s own sweepingly deductive logic, each side is now entitled to a state of its own.

Ryan Mauro: 4 threats to Christian support of Israel— In 2009, I made my first trip to Israel thanks to the Israel Experience program of Eagles Wings Ministry. It was around that time that I heard the ministry’s executive-director, Reverend Robert Stearns, say that Christian support for Israel was at risk. At the time, I was skeptical of the warning. Since then, I’ve seen four trends that prove him correct. The first trend is psychological and is the one I believe to be the most powerful one. It boils down to the fact that people, especially Americans, favor the underdog.

Adam Taylor: Jonathan Pollard: Why Israel wants him free, why the U.S. doesn’t, and what might happen next— The Obama administration is reportedly considering freeing spy Jonathan Pollard in return for concessions from the Israeli government. If it happens, it certainly would be a bold move. The release of Pollard, who was arrested in November 1985 after passing secret documents to Israel while working as a civilian analyst working for U.S. Navy, would mark a reversal of decades of official U.S. policy. It could also, however, be a key step forward for Middle East peace negotiations.

Raphael Poch: Temple Mount educations seeks to “rekindle the hearts of humanity”— On Sunday, the International Temple Institute will be celebrating the fifth annual International Temple Mount Awareness Day in honor of the new Hebrew month of Nissan, which inaugurates spring. The month of Nissan is a time of renewal and rejuvenation and the institute hopes, of rebuilding. The day seeks to celebrate the promise of the rebuilding of the Jewish Holy Temple in Jerusalem and to help fuel the revolution in Temple consciousness that is taking place in Israel. Recently, a discussion was held in the Knesset to discuss the status of the Temple Mount at the behest of Member of Knesset Moshe Feiglin from the Likud party. Temple awareness is something that is difficult to come by in today’s society. Rabbi Chaim Richman, International Director of the Temple Institute, attributes this lack of awareness to the style of education being offered since the reunification of Jerusalem.

Michael Curtis: UN Bias Against Israel Continues— There’s an old Russian proverb, “Terminate what can’t be repaired.” Everyone interested in a just and lasting peace between Arabs and the State of Israel should apply this proverb to that absurd organization, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). To say that it is a flawed, if useful, instrument for advocating human rights is to argue that shifting chairs on the Titanic might have avoided the iceberg. The UNHRC consists of 47 nations, elected for three-year terms. Most important for understanding the character of its resolutions and its outright bias against the State of Israel is its composition: the majority,  26 in all, are Asian and African countries; eight are Latin American: seven are Western; and six are Eastern European. 18 of the countries are members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Among the present members in 2014 of this “human rights” body are countries that are not exactly heralded for their devotion to human rights, equal rights for women, or tolerance of Christianity, such as Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, and Russia. Until recently, other non-freedom loving countries such as Libya were members, and Syria might have been joined until even the UNHRC became conscious of the 130,000 deaths in the brutal civil war in that country.

Soeren Kern: UK: Plot to ‘Islamize’ British Schools— British authorities are investigating the source of a document that purportedly outlines a plot by Muslim fundamentalists to Islamize public schools in England and Wales. The four-page document describes a strategy—dubbed Operation Trojan Horse—to oust non-Muslim head teachers and staff at state schools in Muslim neighborhoods and replace them with individuals who will run the schools according to strict Islamic principles. A copy of the undated and unsigned document was sent to the Birmingham City Council in November 2013, but its existence did not become publicly known until March 2014, when it was leaked to the London-based newspaper, the Sunday Times.

BBC: Russia’s Ukraine strategy ends Europe’s dream— Here’s the setting: a Middle Eastern state filled with skyscrapers and luxury hotels, and blessed with a booming business environment and the close friendship of the United States. Here’s the problem: a substantial segment of its population lives with the constant threat of deportation hanging over it. Its members cannot obtain birth or marriage certificates, or identity cards, or driving licenses. They are banned from access to public health and education services. Their second-class status means they have no access to the law courts in order to pursue their well-documented claims of discrimination. And on those rare occasions that they summon the will to protest publicly—as they did in 2011, when demonstrators held signs bearing slogans like “I Have a Dream”—the security forces respond with extraordinary brutality, using such weapons as water cannons, concussion grenades, and tear gas with reckless abandon.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Palestinians Condemned for Visiting Nazi Death Camps—Some 30 Palestinian students from Al-Quds University and Bir Zeit University in the West Bank arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau last week to learn about the Holocaust. The visit is being led by Mohammed Dajani, professor of American Studies at Al-Quds University, who also heads the Wasatia movement of moderate Islam. The university has been criticized for promoting “normalization” with Israel. “I don’t understand how the [Palestinian] students accept normalization [with Israel],” wrote a Palestinian journalist from Ramallah on his Facebook page. “This professor is the king of kings of normalization.” The Palestinian daily Al-Quds, which reported the visit, deleted some reader responses that accused the professor of treason and collaboration. Hamas has said that teaching the Holocaust was a “crime against Palestinians.”

Mark Lewis: Why is the Palestinian Arab refugee problem still here?— The question of why the Palestinian refugees are still here could be considered sufficiently answered by my page looking at how the UNRWA handles Palestinian refugees. The U.N.’s bloated estimates of how many initial Palestinian Arab refugees were created in the 1948 Palestine War followed by redefining who was to be identified as a refugee gave us the initial exaggerated figures the UN works with. Then owing to the unprecedented inclusion of refugee offspring being considered brand new refugees, the Palestinian Arab refugee population has exploded rather than what traditionally occurs with a refugee population over the years (assuming no new hostilities 1), which is a decrease in size. Finally, the U.N. sees fit to remove the responsibility for finding a solution to these refugees from the UNRWA, the only organization handling them in the territories. The U.N. has engineered the failure from the start, and can fix it at any time but doesn’t. It really is quite a stunning example of inhumanity in the midst of the United Nations; the same international arena so often heralded as the cure to humanitarian crisis. As confusing as the U.N. refusing to reverse their earlier incompetence seems on the surface, there are reasons that make the whole situation downright logical. Exploitative to be sure, but logical.

Lee Smith: Border Skirmishes: the Iran-Israel Struggle Heats Up— Last week the Israeli Air Force bombed Syrian military and security positions in retaliation for an operation on the Syrian-Israeli border in the Golan Heights. Four Israeli soldiers were wounded when Hezbollah attacked their Jeep. Hezbollah it seems was looking to kidnap them. This time they failed, but, said Hezbollah sources, “We are sure we will succeed in the near future.” Maybe. If so, it is sure to resonate throughout the Middle East. The last time Hezbollah kidnapped Israeli soldiers it touched off a monthlong conflict in the summer of 2006. After the devastation Hezbollah suffered, hundreds of its elite troops dead and billions of dollars’ worth of damage done, the party’s general secretary, Hassan Nasrallah, said that had he known how the Israelis would respond, he never would have taken their soldiers in the first place. So now that Nasrallah knows what Israeli countermeasures look like, what could he possibly be thinking?

Olivier Guitta: Iran’s Other Nuclear Timebomb— Bushehr, where Iran’s oldest and main nuclear plant is located, is a city of over a million people that sits in one of the most active seismic regions in the world, at the intersection of three tectonic plates. In April 2013, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Bushehr; luckily the plant was not online at the time. After Russia provided necessary nuclear fuel, the plant went operational in July 2013. Iran is the only nuclear-operating country that has not signed any of the major international safety conventions.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Malachi 3: 1-4

“Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to Yahweh offerings in righteousness.  Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to Yahweh as in the days of old and as in former years.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
