Times of Israel—Jews love Jerusalem more than we do, Islamic Jihad head complains in Iran:

Jewish love for Jerusalem drew unexpected praise from the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror organization, who told religious leaders in Tehran that the Jews show their love for the city more than Muslims do, and quoted in Hebrew from an inspirational Israeli ballad to prove the point.

Addressing a clerical conference in the Iranian capital, Ramadan Shalah lamented that Palestinians and other Muslims showed insufficient love for Al-Quds, the Arabic name for Jerusalem, according to a recording obtained Monday by Israel’s Army Radio.

Shalah contrasted the inadequate Palestinian and Muslim love of the holy city with the heartfelt attachment of the Jews, and — speaking in Hebrew and Arabic — quoted the famous Israeli ballad “Jerusalem of Gold,” penned by Zionist songstress Naomi Shemer.

“What is the meaning of Jerusalem for us?” Shalah, who leads one of the most extreme terror groups in the world and is on the FBI’s most-wanted terrorists list, asked the assembled clergy last week. “Learn from the Jews, from that accursed entity [Israel]. They love Jerusalem not just as a military matter, but as a cultural one,” he declared.

Steven Emerson: U.S. Wavers on ‘Jewish State’ Recognition While Cameron Endorses It— The United States touts itself as an impartial mediator between Israelis and Palestinians. Most of the international community continues to believe that the United States tends to favor the Israeli government position. However, a recent statement by Secretary of State John Kerry reinforces the Obama Administration’s critical approach toward Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s demand for Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish State is “a mistake,” Kerry said, and should not be a vital factor in the ongoing negotiations. Israel’s identity as the “Jewish state” is covered by United Nations Resolution 181 in 1947, Kerry said, and thus is enshrined in international law.

Jackson Diehl: Obama’s Middle East Fallacy—Netanyahu has resigned himself to the likelihood that the U.S. framework will include provisions he’s not ready to endorse. Abbas has not. “There is no way. We will not accept,” the Palestinian news agency quoted him as saying of the Jewish-state principle on March 7. Two days later, Abbas persuaded the moribund Arab League to adopt a resolution backing him up. He’s said much the same about Israeli troops on the Palestinian-Jordanian border. Why does Abbas dare to publicly campaign against the U.S. and Israeli position even before arriving in Washington? Abbas expects to sit back if the talks fail, submit petitions to the UN, and watch the anti-Israel boycotts mushroom, while paying no price of his own.

Alan Baker: Arafat and the Jewish State: Setting the Record Straight— On March 13, 2014, Secretary of State John Kerry told Congress that he views Israel’s principled requirement of recognition as the nation state of the Jewish People “as a mistake.” He added that the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat “confirmed that he agreed it [Israel] would be a Jewish state” in 1988 and in 2004. However, the truth is just the opposite: the U.S. administration at the time did not believe that Arafat’s words satisfied their goal of his recognizing Israel’s right to exist. Moreover, Arafat’s 1988 statement does not come close to meeting the requirement for the Palestinians to recognize Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish People. In the last quarter of 1988, an intense effort was undertaken to facilitate the opening of a diplomatic dialogue between the PLO and the U.S. Previously, all U.S. administrations had strictly adhered to U.S. commitments, originally given by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, that required the PLO to recognize Israel, accept UN Security Council Resolution 242, and renounce terrorism as prerequisites for any dialogue between the parties.

John Ryan: Eight Crucial Questions for Abbas (and One for President Obama)—Question #1: Does Israel have a right to exist? There seems to be a double-standard when it comes to how Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Palestinian Authority’s erstwhile President, Mahmoud Abbas — now in the tenth year of his four-year term — are treated by the Obama White House, as well as by many journalists. While Netanyahu is humiliated, insulted, threatened, and told that he must make “painful concessions” for peace, such as releasing more than 100 terrorists merely to get the Palestinians to come to a negotiating table, Abbas – a facilitator and supporter of these terrorists – is treated with kid gloves, and with Obama virtually begging him to visit.

Tony Perkins: At Air Force Academy, Fight and Flight—At the U.S. Air Force Academy, jets aren’t the only thing taking off. So is a campus-wide rebellion against the forces of political correctness. Frustrated by the school’s decision to scrub a Bible verse from one of the dorm whiteboards, cadets decided to take matters into their own hands. In a show of defiance, Bible verses started popping up on dry erase boards throughout the dorms — outraging the anti-Christian “tolerance” police at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. This latest controversy boiled over earlier this week, when MRFF insisted that a verse from Galatians, posted on a cadet’s personal hallway whiteboard, somehow created a “hostile environment.” He pressed for the cadet — and any officer(s) who ignored the display — to be punished for “misconduct.”

Khaled Abu Toameh: Palestinian People’s Message to Kerry: Go Away!— The Palestinians feel that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is not listening to what they have to say about his efforts to achieve peace in the middle East. That Is why they have decided to express their views through a new song that is dedicated to Kerry personally. A video of the song, by Qassem Najjar, was posted on YouTube and other social media outlets on the eve of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s visit to Washington for talks with President Barack Obama on the peace process with Israel.

Michael Curtis: Fighting back against Biased Boycotters of Israel— When W.H. Auden wrote his long poem, “The Orators,”  it was years before biased and bigoted groups and individuals including anti-Semites had begun advocating a boycott of some kind against the State of Israel. But his lines “Private faces in public places are wiser and nicer than public faces in private places” are appropriate to the increasing practical response to the biased advocates of boycott of Israel, whether they are international businesses, so-called charity organizations, or ill-informed academic groups and personnel. Private faces as well as unprejudiced organized bodies are fighting back against the discrimination against Israel and the outrageous lectures the state is given at the United Nations and other places by the non-democratic nations of the world. Recent examples of positive response by those standing for truth deserve commendation.

Marie-Louise Gumuchian: Crimea votes to break from Ukraine, join Russia. What happens next?— To no one’s surprise, Ukraine’s autonomous Crimea region has voted overwhelmingly to break from Ukraine and join Russia. But what happens next is far from certain. Diplomatically, Sunday’s referendum has put the United States and Russia on the kind of collision course not seen since the Cold War. Economically, it’s unclear how much such a coupling will cost Russia. And politically, it’s divided Crimeans, some of whom think it will bring better pay and some who see this as a Kremlin land grab. Crimea’s Moscow-backed leaders declared an overwhelming 96.7% vote in favor of leaving Ukraine and being annexed by Russia in a referendum that Western powers said was illegal and will bring sanctions. Turnout was 83%.

Anna Brener: Zhidovka: A Jew in Ukraine— Growing up in a small town in Ukraine as a Jewish child was extremely painful. My classmates tormented and bullied me for simply being Jewish. I was called a Zhidovka which means Jewess in Ukrainian. This word surfaced when Nazi’s occupied Ukraine and other Soviet Unions cities and began calling Jews in a derogatory manner. The bullying in school got to a point of where I would come home and just cry because of the abuse I endured, even from teachers. My parents would come to school to speak with the teachers but it would just make the situation worse.  At one point the abuse got violent. Children would chase me, throw fireworks at me and call me derogatory names. I began to stutter out of fear of being hurt and cry daily. In 1996, my parents decided to take me out of school because we were immigrating to America.

Lourdes Garcia-Navarro: Which Place Is More Sexist, The Middle East Or Latin America?— A semi-naked woman in a sequined Carnival costume. A veiled woman with only her eyes showing in a niqab. Two stereotypes of two vastly different regions — Latin America and the Middle East. On the surface, these two images couldn’t be more diametrically opposed. What could the two have in common, right? What a woman wears — or what she doesn’t wear in Brazil’s case — is often interpreted as a sign of her emancipation. The veil, for many, is a symbol of female oppression; the right to wear a bikini, one of liberation. As a woman and a foreigner who lived in Baghdad and Cairo and worked throughout the Middle East for years, I always felt the need to dress modestly and respectfully. Frankly, my recent move back to Latin America was initially a relief. Brazil is the land where less is more — and it was wonderful to put on whatever I wanted.

SnyderTalk Comment: I don’t know what the gesture was, but I can guess.  I’ll simply say this: Erdogan is an idiot, and an Islamist idiot at that.  Whatever gesture the women used couldn’t have conveyed the true feelings of rational people.  When an idiot runs a government, trouble is bound to follow.  Just look at the United States as an example.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Zechariah 13: 7-9

“Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, and against the man, My Associate,” declares Yahweh Sabaoth. “Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; and I will turn My hand against the little ones. It will come about in all the land,” declares Yahweh, “that two parts in it will be cut off and perish; but the third will be left in it. And I will bring the third part through the fire, refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My Name, and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
