Caroline Glick— The Israeli solution:

In its annual survey of American Jewry published last October, the American Jewish Committee found that 75 percent of American Jews agree with the statement, “The goal of the Arabs is not a peaceful two-state agreement with Israel, but rather the destruction of Israel.”

And yet, American Jews supported the establishment of a Palestinian state 50% to 47%.

Next week over 10,000 predominantly Jewish American supporters of Israel will gather in Washington at AIPAC’s annual policy conference. Given their high commitment to Israel, probably most of those gathered belong to the 47% of American Jews who opposed Palestinian statehood.

Yet at the conference they will embrace the two-state formula. And on March 4 they will go up to Capitol Hill and tell their representatives that they support it.

Nadav Shragai: Temple Mount cannot be under Jordan’s thumb— For years now, the Temple Mount has not been in our hands and Israeli sovereignty in the area has been de facto conditional. The past three generations have seen Jews allowed to visit the compound, but only as long as they do not look like Jews, pray like Jews and, at times, as long as they do not mention to anyone that they had been there. It has been 47 years since Moshe Dayan handed over the keys to the Temple Mount to the Jerusalem waqf (Islamic trust) and ever since then we have been forced to stomach straw and gravel, incitement and violence, exclusion and damage to antiquities. Hamas and Palestinian Authority flags are flown over the area more often than not and it seems that the only flag the police make sure is never seen there as is Israel’s flag, and most recently — Jewish worshipers.

Clifford D. May: The eyes of Vladimir Putin— Russian President Vladimir Putin is not happy. The government he backed in Ukraine has collapsed. The Ukrainian leader he favored, Viktor Yanukovych, is on the run, accused of the “mass murder” of protestors. I am not so bold as to predict what Putin will do next. But that he will take action — perhaps very bold action — should be the working assumption of American policy planners.

Raphael Ahren: If peace talks fail: Michael Oren’s Plan B—Israel should consider unilaterally withdrawing from parts of the West Bank and declaring its own borders if the current peace negotiations with the Palestinians fail, former ambassador to the US Michael Oren said this week, reviving an idea that has often been raised, and rejected, by Israeli leaders across the political spectrum.

Lt. Col. (ret.) Michael Segall: How Nuclear Talks Help Iran Dominate the Middle East—The only U.S. policy that had proved successful – the tightening of the sanctions – is now falling apart. Iran’s international legitimacy is on the rebound. From Iran’s standpoint, the nuclear talks are creating an atmosphere where the economic pressure will subside as Iran gains time to fill in the missing pieces of its nuclear program. Iran’s foreign policy is also gaining momentum, as it seeks to persuade the Gulf states to align with it while they can still do so peacefully. The nuclear talks allow Iran to keep developing those parts of its nuclear program – essentially, the military component – that have not yet come to full fruition, while it makes “concessions” in areas such as uranium enrichment where it already has a proven capacity. Thus, Iran is hewing to its strategy of nuclear progress and foresees no substantial danger as it keeps marching toward its goals.

Ahmed Eleiba: Egypt’s Move towards Russia Hints at Shifting Regional Alliances—Field Marshal Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s recent visit to Russia marks a major turning point in strategic relations between Cairo and Moscow, and also served to hand a “yellow card” to Washington. The U.S. is in the process of formulating new security arrangements in the Middle East after having acknowledged that its influence in the region had reached an unprecedented low. At the same time, Russian foreign policy is acquiring a stronger profile in the region. Leslie H. Gelb, president emeritus of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations, who served in senior posts in the Departments of State and Defense, admires Field Marshal El-Sisi for his political realism and believes that the U.S. should engage him in dialogue more actively. He also accepts and understands why El-Sisi has turned to Russia. “I do not have a polite way to express my opinion of what U.S. foreign policy makers are doing in the region,” he says. “They have no clear idea about what is happening there.”

Aomar Boum: Arab Demonization of Jews Is a Historical Anomaly—In the Arab world, one of the most shared and lingering perceptions between liberals and Islamists, Shi’a and Sunni alike, remains their belief in a Jewish plot behind the social, economic, and political chaos of the Arab Spring. Jews have largely vanished from the Arab world, but those looking for a scapegoat imagine a hidden Jewish hand that conspires to throw their countries into turmoil. Tweets, Facebook postings, radio and TV commentators, graffiti, and banners circulate stressing how Jews are bringing down Arab governments and replacing them with new subservient allies. But it’s a relatively recent idea. In fact, Jews were historically frequent, and eventually essential, mediators and intermediaries in traditional Middle Eastern and North African societies. In most villages and towns, local residents held Jews in good faith. Even sultans surrounded themselves with Jewish traders, advisers, and ambassadors and sought their advice to revive economies and establish relations with foreign powers.

Michael Eisenstadt and Robert Satloff: Clarifying the Security Arrangements Debate: Israeli Forces in the Jordan Valley— As U.S. diplomats work to reach “an agreed framework” for future Israeli-Palestinian negotiations before the April expiration of current talks, security arrangements along the Jordan River have emerged as a key sticking point. Both parties have drawn lines in the sand about their respective positions, injecting passion and emotion into an agenda item that — unlike the issues of Jerusalem and refugees — was expected to be resolved through technical discussions among professional military experts.

Michael Curtis: What Went Right for Israel?— In his book published in 2002, Bernard Lewis asked “what went wrong” in the Islamic world, which had itself become conscious, by comparison with the West, that all was not well in its own society.  As a corollary, it is timely to ask, “What went right in the State of Israel?”

Yoav Limor: Business as usual— For the seventh time in the past year, Israel has been attributed with striking a weapons convoy making its way from Syria to Lebanon, en route to Hezbollah. As before, Israel refused to officially comment on the report and just as before, defense officials hedged that the alleged injured party would “contain” the incident, rather than risk escalation.

Shlomo Cesana: Media distortion of reality— German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Jerusalem with her 16 ministers can once again teach anyone who cares about the truth that Israel receives support, attention, cooperation, and yes, even admiration — it’s OK to say that — from the international community. This was demonstrated a few weeks ago when Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper came to Israel for a solidarity visit, it was demonstrated about a year ago with U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit, as well as with a long list of other heads of state.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Zechariah 8: 20-23

“Thus says Yahweh Sabaoth, ‘It will yet be that peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities. The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh Sabaoth; I will also go.” So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek Yahweh Sabaoth in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of Yahweh.’ Thus says Yahweh Sabaoth, ‘In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.

  • Stand! is a suspense novel that exposes the lies, corruption, and greed underlying the theory that man-made CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming.  Professor Wes Carlyle and Karen Sterling, his research collaborator, carefully scan the audience for their would-be attacker—a member of the enviro-gestapo who has been following them for days.  Wes spots his man in the back of the room leaning against the wall.  Suddenly, another man in the audience steps forward and moves toward Karen at a menacing pace.  With a vicious stroke, he swings a billy club at her head.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
  • What Will You Do with the Rest of Your Life? deals with a question that every Christian has to consider: what should I do with my life?  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
  • Falsely Accused is a true story about a young woman who was accused of committing a double homicide.  It’s about a travesty of justice, and it reveals Yahweh intervening in the life of a believer to rescue her from danger in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.  Everyone will enjoy the book, but young people in particular need to read it because the mistakes made that led to the problem could have been avoided.  They were the kinds of mistakes that young people are prone to make.  As they say, forewarned is forearmed.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
