Omar Sacirbey—Sharia Law In The USA 101: A Guide To What It Is And Why States Want To Ban It:

(RNS) North Carolina lawmakers on Wednesday (July 24) approved a bill to prohibit judges from considering “foreign laws” in their decisions, but nearly everyone agrees that “foreign laws” really means Shariah, or Islamic law.

North Carolina now joins six other states — Oklahoma, Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana, South Dakota, and Tennessee — to pass a “foreign laws” bill. A similar bill passed in Missouri, but Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed it, citing threats to international adoptions.

The bills all cite “foreign laws” because two federal courts have ruled that singling out Shariah — as Oklahoma voters originally did in 2010 — is unconstitutional.

So what’s the big deal with Shariah?

Johnnie Moore: We must stand up for Middle East’s persecuted Christians—Christianity began in the East, not the West, yet today Christians in the East are enduring an all-out-assault by Islamic terrorists, while Christians in the West live their lives largely oblivious to it all. This has to change. This is no imaginary persecution; in Syria alone there have been reports of kidnappings, Christian communities intentionally displaced by militants and, worst of all, shootings and beheadings of Christians who refused to convert to Islam.

Karl Vick: Once-Secret Palestinian-Israeli Peace Talks Are Leaking All Over The Place—The Palestinian-Israeli peace talks that began in near-total secrecy six months ago are now producing a stream of leaks so steady the negotiations might as well be going on in public. And in a sense they are.

Daniel Wiser: Pullback from Middle East Will Fuel Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons—The Obama administration’s pullback from the Middle East will only fuel the proliferation of nuclear weapons and extremism in the region, experts said on Friday.

AP: Morsi claims he’s still Egypt’s president as trial for incitement to murder resumes—A lawyer for Egypt’s ousted president on Saturday told a Cairo court that it lacked jurisdiction to try Mohammed Morsi, saying the Islamist leader remained Egypt’s legitimate president because there has been no official decree removing him from office. The claims by Mohammed Salim el-Awah came as the trial of Morsi and 14 others on charges of inciting the killing of protesters in 2012 resumed amid tight security in a makeshift courtroom in the national police academy in an eastern Cairo suburb.

Nadav Shragai: ‘Jewish presence in Hebron is an indisputable historical fact’—Hebron strongman Sheik Farid Khader el-Ja’abari is one of the Palestinian Authority’s most outspoken opponents.  He rejects the idea of a Palestinian state and keeps close contact with the IDF and Jewish settlers.

DEBKAfile: US and Israeli buffer zones under Syrian rebel control designed to contain al Qaeda advances—The Obama administration announced Tuesday, Jan. 28, that selected Syrian rebel militias would receive American light weapons including anti-tank – but not anti-air – rockets. And Friday, Jan. 24, an Israeli intelligence officer disclosed that his government was “rethinking” its neutrality policy in the Syrian war owing to the massing of 30,000 al Qaeda fighters on its Syrian border. DEBKAfile’s intelligence and counter-terror sources say these disclosures add up to a strong shift in the US and Israeli governments’ non-intervention policies on the Syria conflict. That shift appears already to be evolving into joint action for a limited military venture on Syrian soil – not by the deployment of their own troops, but through Syrian rebel militias unassociated with radical Islamist organizations.

Pavol Stracansky: US “dismantling” rhetoric ignores Iran’s nuclear proposals—Iran’s pushback against statements by Secretary of State John Kerry and the White House that Tehran must “dismantle” some of its nuclear programme, and the resulting political uproar over it, indicates that tough US rhetoric may be adding new obstacles to the search for a comprehensive nuclear agreement. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview with CNN’s Jim Sciutto Wednesday, “We are not dismantling any centrifuges, we’re not dismantling any equipment, we’re simply not producing, not enriching over five per cent.”

Naomi Lakritz: Stop Seeking Sinister Motives for PM Harper’s Trip to Israel—The way Harper is being treated over his trip to Israel and his principled support for that nation mirrors the way Israel is being treated over its basic right to survival. Harper noted that on his visit to Ramallah, he was not asked to criticize the Palestinians “in terms of governance or human rights or anything else.” No one asked him to comment on the honor killings, suicide bombings, and zero recognition for the rights of gays and women. “When I’m in Israel, I’m asked to single out Israel. When I’m in the Palestinian Authority, I’m asked to single out Israel, and in half the other places around the world, you ask me to single out Israel,” Harper said.

Ehud Yaari: Israel’s Growing Role in Southern Syria—Israel is now providing a whole range of items, from medications to food, fuel, clothes, heaters, and more to Syrian villages along the Golan Heights frontier line. A significant operation of this type indicates that a system of communications and frequent contacts has been established with the local rebel militias. Israeli concerns have been aggravated by the emergence of al-Qaeda affiliates which have gained preeminence among rebel units in many parts of central and northern Syria.

David M. Weinberg: Peres should bow out gracefully— The State of Israel owes Shimon Peres incalculable credit for building Israel’s defense industry and nuclear option. Peres has been a fine president of Israel too. He restored luster and prestige to the position, and earned respect for Israel around the world. Peres also has largely played by the rules that Israel’s figurehead president is supposed to back the elected governments of Israel and keep his personal political views to himself.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Haggai 2: 20-23

Then the word of Yahweh came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying, “Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, ‘I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders will go down, everyone by the sword of another. On that day,’ declares Yahweh Sabaoth, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant,’ declares Yahweh, ‘and I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’” declares Yahweh Sabaoth.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
