Aaron Klein— US Plan Gives Jerusalem Holy Sites to Vatican:

Secretary of State John Kerry quietly presented a U.S. plan for eastern Jerusalem that calls for an international administrative mandate to control holy sites in the area, according to informed Palestinian and Israeli diplomatic sources.

The exact composition of the international mandate is up for discussion, the sources said, but Kerry’s plan recommended a coalition that includes the Vatican, together with a group of Muslim countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The international arrangement is being proposed as a temporary solution for about two to three years while security arrangements in Jerusalem between Israelis and Palestinians are finalized, said the sources.

Israel, the sources said, was not receptive to the particulars of Kerry’s plan, especially the concept of Turkish participation in Jerusalem. Kerry told the Israelis he would hold talks with the Kingdom of Jordan about its playing a leading role in the proposal in the place of Turkey, the sources added.

13--Perspectives 2

Nesanel Gantz: The Vatican and the Temple Vessels— Rabbi Yonasan Shtencel of Jerusalem never imagined that his Talmud learning would lead him to explore the age-old mystery surrounding the disappearance of the vessels of the Beis Hamikdash, the Holy Temple. Are they really hidden in the catacombs of the Vatican in Rome? Rabbi Shtencel is the owner of a successful pharmaceutical company, and is fortunately able to spend much of his time in learning Torah. “About three weeks ago I was learning Talmud with my study partner, Rabbi Hirschman, where it talks about Rabbi Elazar ben Rabbi Yosi seeing several objects from the Beis Hamikdash: the Menorah, the Table, the tzitz (crown) of the High Priest and the paroches (curtain). They also found the grindstone of Beis Avtinas.”

Louis Rene Beres: Untangling synergies: Israel’s order of battle— Whatever else might divide them, all Palestinian factions readily come together on at least one common understanding. This narrow but significant point of coalescence is unhidden. In essence, it reveals a conspicuously ritualized hatred of Israel. Lying latent underneath this relentless loathing lies a far older and more primal hatred of “The Jews.” Palestinian opposition to Israel has never really been about land. Certainly, it has never been about an “occupation.” The PLO was founded in 1964, three years before there were any “Israel occupied territories.” What exactly were the Palestinians trying to “liberate” during those years?

Joshua Teitelbaum: Saudi-Israeli Relations?—The confluence of interests between Riyadh and Jerusalem should not be overstated. Saudi Arabia is not about to give up its position in the Islamic world by forming an alliance with Israel, the perceived enemy of Islam. Yet quiet cooperation should not be ruled out. When it comes to Israel, the Saudis will continue to balance their national security considerations with their internal and regional legitimacy concerns. The political cost of improving relations with Israel is much higher than improving relations with Iran. Even though the Saudi Wahhabis have no love for Iranian Shiites, the latter are at least Muslims.

Jonathan S. Tobin: Indigenous? Native American Studies and Big Lies about Israel—The latest group of academic outliers to back the boycott of Israel is the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association. Ohio State English professor Chadwick Allen, the president of the association, wrote that the NAISA Council “protests the infringement of the academic freedom of Indigenous Palestinian academics and intellectuals in the Occupied Territories and Israel who are denied fundamental freedoms of movement, expression, and assembly.” This is simply false. Academics in the West Bank work, publish, and pontificate in public from the many Palestinian institutions of higher education that were all founded after Israel took control of the area in 1967.

Steve Apfel: Israel Boycotters Part 1: A Kabalistic mission— On their maligned target, Israel, boycotters ruffle scarcely a hair. If anything, the harder they tilt at the windmill the more furiously – infuriatingly – Israel’s milestone metrics go by: economic scientific social cultural. Will the start-up nation slump now that European and American irritants have settled on its rump? Irritating or not, the boycott crowd can be a bore. When for instance American academics cry ‘stop oppressing Palestinians!’ or ‘end the occupation!’ or whatever their formula might be, our hearts sink. But hook them up to the whole outfit, strip them to the bone, and boycotters begin to have interesting aspects. They cease to be run of the mill anti-Zionists and become all-consuming obsessions.

Paul Richter: U.S. Pessimism Sets in over Iran Nuclear Talks—Three weeks after President Obama hailed a landmark deal to suspend most of Iran’s nuclear program for the next six months, the mood among U.S. officials about the next round of negotiations has shifted from elated to somber, even gloomy. “I wouldn’t say [chances of success are] more than 50-50,” Obama said last week. The shift, officials say, is the result of a growing recognition of the compromises each side must make to resolve Western suspicion that Iran will someday try to build nuclear weapons and the Iranian demand that the sanctions crippling its economy be lifted.

Itamar Cohen: Syrian Refugees and the Challenge to Jordan— The election of Jordan to the UN Security Council by the large majority of 178 countries reflects international acknowledgment of the challenges facing Jordan, mainly in the economic sphere, and the policy line adopted by the Hashemite kingdom. Israel, which hopes to maintain tranquility and stability along its long border with Jordan, should welcome this development, which strengthens the kingdom’s political and diplomatic standing. In order to maintain the stability and survival of the Hashemite kingdom, Jordan desperately needs economic aid from the international community. The ongoing stream of Syrian refugees over the past 30 months, the closing of the trade routes between Jordan and Syria, the disruptions in the flow of natural gas from Egypt to Jordan, and the uncertainty concerning the situation that will ultimately prevail in Syria all pose serious challenges to Jordan’s stability.

Douglas Murray: UK: Charities for Terrorists— Recently it was revealed that money from UK charities may have been filtered to the Islamist terror group al-Shabaab. At the root of its problem is a question of identity and purpose. Is the Charity Commission — recently dismissed by the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee as “not fit for purpose” — an advocacy group or a policeman? The new head of the Commission…said such practices risked bringing the whole sector “into disrepute.”

Amir Taheri: Iran nuke deal quietly collapses— Less than a month after it was hailed as “a great diplomatic coup,” the so-called Geneva accord to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions seems to have come unstuck. The official narrative in Tehran is that Iran signed nothing. “There is no treaty and no pact,” says Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham, “only a statement of intent.”

Susan Benesch and Michael Abramowitz: A Prelude to Murder: Calling Humans Vermin— Before the Nazis murdered six million Jews, they called them rats and vermin. Before the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, Hutu leaders declared that all Tutsi men, women and children were inyenzi, cockroaches. Today, similarly dehumanizing language is surging in countries like Burma, Greece, Nigeria and Iran—and history teaches that it can inspire mass violence if left unchecked. Such inflammatory speech is launched from a variety of platforms: newspapers, broadcasts, pulpits, the Web, and even text messages. It’s the content that’s strikingly similar. In dozens of languages, human beings are described as less than human. The inciters say these pests must be eliminated as a matter of self-preservation.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Nahum 1: 12-15

Thus says Yahweh, “Though they are at full [strength] and likewise many, even so, they will be cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no longer. So now, I will break his yoke bar from upon you, and I will tear off your shackles.” Yahweh has issued a command concerning you: “Your name will no longer be perpetuated. I will cut off idol and image from the house of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.” Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; pay your vows. For never again will the wicked one pass through you; He is cut off completely.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
