Dr. Haim Shine—If this is peace, what is war?:

The stabbing murder of an Israeli soldier by a Palestinian terrorist on a bus in Afula on Wednesday was not the result of an “atmosphere.” To the best of my knowledge, an atmosphere has never killed anyone. Inhumane, savage murderers kill people. Placing the blame for the attack on an atmosphere shows disrespect for human life and a lack of understanding of the role that murder plays in the Palestinian ethos.

This ethos is based on spilling the blood of innocent people as a means of achieving nationalistic and territorial goals. The Palestinians are no different than their brethren in Syria, Egypt, Yemen and Sudan, countries that massacre their own people without mercy.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry openly said that if Israel does not reach a peace deal with the Palestinians, a third intifada will break out. Kerry did not come up with this threat in the heat of the moment. It was based on long talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his friends, as well as assessments given to Kerry by U.S. intelligence officials who listen to all conversations between top Palestinian officials.

Victor Davis Hanson: America jumps off the tiger’s back—The United States has ridden — and tamed — the wild global tiger since the end of World War II. The frantic ride has been dangerous, to us, but a boon to humanity. At the same time, America’s leadership role has been misrepresented and misunderstood abroad and at home, including by some of our country’s own leaders. Accordingly, our current president, Barack Obama, has decided to climb down from the tiger, with the certain consequence that it will run wild again.

Boaz Bismuth: The US has its own set of interests— “We, America, are not just hired lawyers negotiating a deal for Israel and the Sunni Gulf Arabs, which they alone get the final say on. We, America, have our own interests in not only seeing Iran’s nuclear weapons capability curtailed, but in ending the 34-year-old Iran-U.S. cold war, which has harmed our interests and those of our Israeli and Arab friends.” By writing these frank words, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman managed to embarrass former Israeli officials and various pundits in the Israeli media who have tried to drive home the notion that Iran’s nuclear program is a U.S. problem. “Let them handle this,” those well-informed opinion-makers told us. “We must not interfere.”

Dennis Ross: How to Fix the Iran Nuclear Deal—Today, Iran has accumulated six bombs worth of enriched uranium; has produced close to 19,000 centrifuges, including more than a thousand of the next generation of IR-2 centrifuges which may be five times as efficient as their IR-1 predecessors; and is building a heavy-water plant capable of yielding plutonium. We should make clear that we have a number of absolute requirements for any nuclear end-state agreement: Iran must dramatically reduce the number of centrifuges, ship out essentially all of its enriched uranium and, at a minimum, convert its heavy-water plant into a light-water reactor.

Elliott Abrams: Are Iran sanctions a ‘march to war’?— White House spokesman Jay Carney this week called any effort to adopt additional sanctions against Iran “a march to war.” Here, from The Cable, is the quote: “It is important to understand that if pursuing a resolution diplomatically is disallowed or ruled out, what options, then, do we and our allies have to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon? The American people do not want a march to war.” This escalation of rhetoric is irresponsible and near hysterical (to borrow a word from a New York Times editorial, which applied it to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu).

Yuval Steinitz: A Logical Answer to the Iran Nuclear Conundrum—According to the public statements of Iranian leaders, what Tehran really wants is “civilian nuclear energy.” What the rest of the world wants is the confidence that Iran will not possess the capacity to produce nuclear weapons. These two demands can be reconciled by the following formula: nuclear electricity, yes; uranium enrichment, no. Iran could be permitted to operate a civilian nuclear reactor for the production of electricity and medical purposes, but it should agree to buy its nuclear fuel rods elsewhere. Tehran argues that uranium enrichment has become part of its “national identity” and it would wound Iranian pride if it were forced to buy fuel rods abroad. In fact, there are 25 countries that operate purely civilian nuclear programs, and about 80% of them import nuclear fuel rods.

Raheem Kassam: UK Media Response to Stabbing of IDF Soldier is Shameful— When a stone-throwing Palestinian teenager is injured, or perhaps even arrested, you can bet your bottom dollar that the world’s media will be there. Well, by “there” I mean on the phone to a freelance photographer on the ground, willing to cough up thousands of pounds to buy and publish pictures and video. Of course, such an incident is usually followed by “mass protests”, which usually involves around a hundred Western activists taking to the dirt roads of the Palestinian territories acting like fools in front of some cameras. The BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times – they all revel in it.

Amos Yadlin: Guaranteeing that an Initial Deal with Iran Does Not Become the Final Deal— Israel and the United States share the strategic goal of preventing Iran’s attainment of nuclear weapons. Both countries agree that only two forms of leverage can block Iran’s dash to the bomb: economic sanctions and a credible military threat. However, Israel and the US diverge in their assessments as to the scope and timing for effective use of these levers. Consequently, there is a huge gap between them on how to reach the goal of stopping Iran’s military nuclear program, which strategy is appropriate at this time, and what lies beyond the initial agreement that may be reached in the next round of talks on November 20. The United States would do well to promise that an initial agreement will not become the final agreement, which would allow Iran to retain all its nuclear capabilities and be able to break out to the bomb quickly. Increased determination on the part of the US and the international powers to use all the means at their disposal to stop Iran’s nuclear program is a prerequisite for success in future negotiations on a final agreement with Iran.

Reuven Berko: The Orient Express from Mecca to the Vatican— On November 3, 2013, Christian figures from around the Middle East gathered in Beirut to hold an emergency meeting. Most of them came from Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq, seeking to create a dynamic to improve and reinforce the defenses of Arab Christians, who are currently being persecuted by radical Islamists in their own countries. The atmosphere at the meeting was one of extreme distress. The representatives reported that the so-called Arab Spring had led to the strengthening of violent Islamist movements which were now targeting the Christian sects in the Arab-Muslim world, especially in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon. Attacks on Christians reflected the refusal to recognize other religions, especially Christianity, as having the right to exist in the Arab-Muslim world, and damaged the delicate fabric of unity, “coexistence, forgiveness and dialogue,” according to Lebanese MP Michel Aoun, that had existed until now among the various religious sects in the Arab countries.

Mark Dubowitz: Examining Nuclear Negotiations—Mark Dubowitz, the executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday: The U.S. administration seemed ready to give tens of billons of dollars in irreversible sanctions relief, in addition to the unilateral sanctions relief by blocking new Congressional sanctions, in exchange for the promise of reversible nuclear concessions that do not roll back or freeze enough of the critical elements of Iran’s military-nuclear infrastructure.

Crispian Balmer and Nidal al-Mughrabi: Single-Minded Islamic Jihad Grows in Gaza’s Shadows—Palestinian Islamic Jihad is quietly putting on muscle and has become the go-to group for both Iran and Syria. “Islamic Jihad is dangerous because to a degree it is uncontrollable,” said Yoni Fighel, a retired Israeli army colonel and a senior researcher at the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya.

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Jonah 2: 1-3

Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh his God from the stomach of the fish, and he said, “I called out of my distress to Yahweh, and He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice. For You had cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, and the current engulfed me. All Your breakers and billows passed over me.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
