Eric Edelman and Robert Joseph—The Obama administration’s risky disarmament agenda:

President Obama has announced the next step in his quixotic quest to achieve a nuclear-free world. Speaking at the Brandenburg Gate this week, the president proposed reductions in U.S. nuclear forces to about 1,000 deployed strategic warheads; that represents a cut of more than 30 percent from the level of the 2010 New START agreement. While the offer was placed in the context of a bilateral agreement with Russia, Obama’s words were carefully chosen. He did not rule out unilateral reductions — something the president’s top advisers have indicated might happen if Moscow refuses to reduce its forces — or pursuing an arrangement outside of the constitutional treaty process.

The president emphasized that the new warhead level is derived from a recent Defense Department study. According to administration officials, the study, which remains classified, sought to identify requirements for our nuclear forces and opportunities for reductions. Before the analysis began, some predicted that the president’s commitment to “global zero” would lead to a deployed force of 1,000 warheads based on “political guidance” to military authorities that arbitrarily reduced the scope of assets required to ensure deterrence.

4--Scripture of the Day

Hosea 2: 14-18

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, bring her into the wilderness and speak kindly to her. Then I will give her her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor as a door of hope. And she will sing there as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt. It will come about in that day,” declares Yahweh, “that you will call Me Ishi and will no longer call Me Baali. For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, so that they will be mentioned by their names no more. In that day I will also make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds of the sky and the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow, the sword and war from the land, and will make them lie down in safety.”

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Dr. Reuven Berko: Lessons from Qadisiyah— The Americans’ decision to arm the Syrian rebels represents the culmination of inter-Arab efforts to breach the Syrian stalemate and assist the Sunni camp — every Arab country in accordance with its particular ability. This decision blew a strong wind back into the rebels’ sails, after months of being subjected to attacks by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah fighters and facing top-of-the-line Russian weapons and drones.

Princella D. Smith: China and the declining dollar— According to several long-time economists’ recent analyses, the future of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency is in big trouble. The Wall Street Daily recently reported that the U.S. Treasury Department has agreed to give China direct access to its auctions. This deal would allow China to purchase Treasury bills without having to place bids through primary dealers, bypassing Wall Street.

Isi Leibler: Tea-time in Tehran— The enthusiastic media response to the election of the “moderate” and “reformist” Hassan Rohani is reminiscent of the unrealistic drivel that greeted the Arab Spring. Indeed, there was perhaps greater justification for the misplaced optimism over the downfall of despotic Arab leaders than in the election of this mullah, one of eight candidates approved by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei from a pool of 686.

Elder of Ziyon: UNRWA Cannot Fathom Why Israelis Don’t Want to be Murdered— UNRWA published a story and video on its website about how they help a Gaza man survive after the evil Israelis took his job away with their awful blockade of Gaza: When Iyad Farahat was 7 years old, his father died. Like many Palestine refugee children growing up in difficult circumstances, he was soon forced to leave school. At 19, Iyad entered the textile industry, and quickly opened a small sewing factory in Rafah. By 1996, at 32, he was able to move his business to the Karni Industrial Zone in northern Gaza, where he had 50 sewing machines and around 60 employees.

G. Murphy Donovan: Obama’s Terror Gambit— It seems that the Goebbels playbook is working. Obama fronts the game so well that he dodges any personal responsibility for various lies and administration blunders now in the news. And all of this is OK with the Twitter twits. The buck no longer stops at the top: it stops with the assistant to the deputy assistant’s assistant down in the bowels of some obscure bureaucracy. Or maybe amateur video auteurs are at fault.

Mark Tapson: Crucified Again— Our rights in Egypt, as Christians or converts, are less than the rights of animals. We are deprived of social and civil rights, deprived of our inheritance and left to the fundamentalists to be killed. Nobody bothers to investigate or care about us. – Maher Al-Gohary, Muslim apostate

P. David Hornik: Kerry’s Push to Release Palestinian Terrorists— Two months ago I reported here that Secretary of State John Kerry was—in the immediate aftermath of the Boston Marathon terror attack—pressuring Israel to release heinous terrorists from prison. The rationale: such a release was being demanded by Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas, and would get him to resume peace negotiations with Israel after stonewalling them for four years.

Joseph Klein: A Tyranny’s Madness— At a news conference held on June 21st at United Nations headquarters in New York,  UN Ambassador Sin Son Ho of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (referred to in short as North Korea or DPRK) accused the United States of being “entirely responsible for the ever-worsening situation on the Korean Peninsula.” In his rare appearance before a packed room of reporters, he warned that the “DPRK will never give up its nuclear deterrent unless the US fundamentally and irreversibly abandons its hostile policy and nuclear threat toward the DPRK.”

Joseph Puder: The Kurds and the Future of Syria— The recent announcement by the Obama administration that it intends to provide arms and funds to the Syrian rebels, begs a number of key questions.  One such question is why the administration has not been cultivating a democratic and secular alternative to the radical Islamist led rebel camp that hijacked the Syrian revolution. In fact, there is an alternative to the radical Islamist rebels on one hand, and the repressive Assad dictatorship on the other, according to Sherkoh Abbas, President of the Kurdistan National Assembly of Syria (KNAS).

Mark Steyn: Obama’s Melting Wings— Descending from the heavens for the G8 summit at beautiful Lough Erne this week, President Obama caused some amusement to his British hosts. The chancellor of the exchequer had been invited to give a presentation to the assembled heads of government on the matter of tax avoidance (one of the big items on the agenda, for those of you who think what the IRS could really use right now is even more enforcement powers). The president evidently enjoyed it. Thrice, he piped up to say how much he agreed with Jeffrey, eventually concluding the presentation with the words, “Thank you, Jeffrey.” Unfortunately, the chancellor of the exchequer is a bloke called George Osborne, not Jeffrey Osborne. President Obama subsequently apologized for confusing George with Jeffrey, who was a popular vocal artiste back in the Eighties when Obama was dating his composite girlfriend and making composite whoopee to the composite remix of Jeffrey Osborne’s 1982 smoocheroo, “On the Wings of Love.”

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
