Joel Gehrke: Obama’s Energy nominee: We need carbon tax to double or triple energy cost—“Ultimately, it has to be cheaper to capture and store it than to release it and pay a price,” MIT professor and Energy nominee Ernest Moniz told the Switch Energy Project in an interview last year. “If we start really squeezing down on carbon dioxide over the next few decades, well, that could double; it could eventually triple. I think inevitably if we squeeze down on carbon, we squeeze up on the cost, it brings along with it a push toward efficiency; it brings along with it a push towards clean technologies in a conventional pollution sense; it brings along with it a push towards security. Because after all, the security issues revolve around carbon bearing fuels.”

4--Scripture of the Day

Daniel 4: 10-13

“Now these were the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed: I was looking, and behold, there was a tree in the midst of the earth and its height was great. The tree grew large and became strong and its height reached to the sky, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth. Its foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The beasts of the field found shade under it, and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches, and all living creatures fed themselves from it. I was looking in the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed, and behold, an angelic watcher, a holy one, descended from heaven.”

13--Perspectives

#####

Jerry Newcombe: The Unstompable Jesus Christ—By now, it seems most everyone has heard about an inane assignment that boggles the mind. Earlier this month a professor at FAU, Florida Atlantic University (the Davie campus, near Ft. Lauderdale), had his students participate in a bizarre exercise.

Barry Rubin: What Obama Didn’t Say: Why Peace Requires More than Israeli Willpower—Would all Palestinians ready to live in their Arab Muslim state alongside Israel as a Jewish state please raise their hands?

Uri Heitner: Israel should keep its distance for the Syria war— Israel is an island of democracy surrounded by murderous dictatorships, and it’s better to stick to an isolationist policy than to nose around internal Arab conflicts.

Boaz Bismuth: Struggling to change his tune— Even after Israel’s apology last week, it appears that Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdoğan simply enjoys annoying Jerusalem.

Daniel Pipes: Obama to Palestinians: Accept the Jewish state— Obama’s demand that Palestinians recognize Israel as the Jewish state represents a readiness to deal with the conflict’s central issue.

Clifford D. May: Crossing Jordan— Some Arab leaders have taken risks for peace — and paid with their lives.

Dr. Haim Shine: Religion and state: a time to take stock— Most of the haredi community, including some of their religious leaders, already understands the need for change and a new way of dealing with a complex reality.

Michael Reagan: Churches: Time to Fight!— You can’t win the fight if you don’t put on the gloves. A punch-drunk, old heavyweight boxer knows that’s a truism, but not the churches of America.

Joe Kaufman: Islamist Group Congratulates Pope—While Cursing Christians Everywhere—A case study in sordid deception.

Raymond Ibrahim: Muslim Persecution of Christians: January, 2013—In the land where Christianity once spread the fastest, it is now dying the fastest.

The Australian Editorial: Iran’s Foes Are Israel’s Friends—The rapprochement between Jerusalem and Ankara has profound implications, not just for the conflict in Syria, but also for containing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional designs. A UN investigation found Israel’s blockade was legal and its forces justified in defending themselves against “organized and violent resistance.” Yet the ensuing standoff has been a major impediment in confronting the Syrian crisis and has given comfort to Syria’s ally Iran.

Jeffrey White: Arms for Syria’s Rebels: Shaping the War’s Outcome—Rebel actions have maintained continuous pressure on regime forces across most of the country, with the war being fought, at varying levels of intensity, in thirteen of Syria’s fourteen provinces (only coastal Tartus is essentially unaffected). Reinforcing the rebels with military assistance increases the likelihood of regime defeat at the local and provincial level.

Max Boot: The Missing Element in Western Aid to the Syrian Rebels—Showing once again the difficulty of keeping any “covert action” truly secret, the news media have been full of stories in recent days about how the U.S. is providing assistance to arm and train the Syrian rebels.

George Friedman: Europe’s Disturbing Precedent in the Cyprus Bailout—The European economic crisis has taken different forms in different places, and Cyprus is the latest country to face the prospect of financial ruin. Overextended banks in Cyprus are teetering on the brink of failure for issuing loans they cannot repay, which has prompted the tiny Mediterranean country, a member of the European Union, to turn to Brussels for help. Late Sunday, the European Union and Cypriot president announced new terms for a bailout that would provide the infusion of cash necessary to prevent bankruptcies in Cyprus’ banking sector and, more important, prevent a banking panic from spreading to the rest of Europe.

Stella Paul: Annals of Jewish Naiveté—According to the Facebook Page of the 92nd Street Y, on March 22, 1874, the Young Men’s Hebrew Association was formed. But a quick look at its current website shows that Roger Waters, former front man for the rock group Pink Floyd, and currently one of the biggest haters of Israel outside of the Middle East, will be appearing at the 92nd Street Y late next month.

Adam Turner: Europe acquiesces while Jews are threatened, and killed. Again—The Jews of Europe need to wake up to reality. There is no future for Jewish life in that dark continent.

Mark W. Hendrickson: Gay Marriage and Legal Surrealism—There is something slightly absurd about a small panel of jurists sitting in judgment on thousands of years of history, experience, and (for those who believe) divine revelation.

Ryan Mauro: Crowning Erdogan as the New King of Islamists—The dark consequences of Netanyahu’s apology to Turkey.

Arnold Ahlert: When Affordable Health Care Died—The grim tale of what ObamaCare will really cost.

Bridget Johnson: DOMA: A Question of Federalism or Equal Protection?—Supreme Court hears arguments on Clinton-era statute as Roberts questions Obama and the “courage of his convictions” for enforcing DOMA while calling it invalid.

Paula Bolyard: Has a Century of Progressive Education Turned Us into Obedient Sheep?—A vile murderer taunts the family of his victims and everyone in the court just sits there and takes it. This wouldn’t have happened 100 years ago.

Larry Elder: Jim Carrey — Not ‘Dumb & Dumber,’ Just Ignorant—Gun control advocate comedian/actor Jim Carrey becomes the latest Hollywood leftie to trash legendary actor and former NRA head Charlton Heston.

Kyle Olson: Chicago Teachers Union President Laughs About Lying to Parents, Turning Students Into “Hostages”— Why is our government education system so dysfunctional? Perhaps because parents often don’t get the truth and administrators and teachers are constantly fighting each other. That much can be discerned from the words of Karen Lewis, president of the radical Chicago Teachers Union.

Catherine Glenn Foster: What is Planned Parenthood Hiding?— Planned Parenthood is as secretive as it is deadly. In other words, it not only ends the lives of hundreds of thousands of unborn children each year but also conceals records revealing pertinent aspects of its operation costs, important details regarding “policies and services available to minors,” and it provides different numbers on salary information based on whether it is filling out state or federal paperwork.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.

  • Falsely Accused is a true story about a young woman who was accused of committing a double homicide.  It’s about a travesty of justice, and it reveals Yahweh intervening in the life of a believer to rescue her from danger in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.  Everyone will enjoy the book, but young people in particular need to read it because the mistakes made that led to the problem could have been avoided.  They were the kinds of mistakes that young people are prone to make.  As they say, forewarned is forearmed.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
