Ali Sina: Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer—I was not impressed by Sen. Barack Obama after the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a wholesome presidential package. It is so instinctive for most people to want to see blacks succeed. It is as if all humanity is carrying a collective guilt for what the ancestors of blacks endured. However, despite my initial interest in him, I was soon put off, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling.  His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words.

SnyderTalk Comment: As Obama’s visit to Israel approaches, intelligent and informed people need to pay attention to several possibly interrelated developments including the election of a new pope, Iran nuclear negotiations, “peace” with so-called “Palestinians”, Hamas and PA warnings about Obama ascending the Temple Mount, among other things.  Events are unfolding in such rapid-fire succession that it almost boggles the mind.  Even though this SnyderTalk lead headline was written four years ago, Obama hasn’t changed.  If anything, he’s gotten worse.  Please pay attention and read SnyderTalk very carefully.

4--Scripture of the Day

Daniel 2: 17-18

Then Daniel went to his house and informed his friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, about the matter, so that they might request compassion from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends would not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

James Bennet: The Bloomberg Way—This is the first disease that has gone from a rich person’s disease to a poor person’s disease. Generally, it would go in the other direction. For the first time in the history of the world, this year, more people will die from the effects of too much food than from starvation.

Zvi Mazel: Analysis: Kerry’s failed mission in Cairo—For the second time in less than a year, an American envoy bearing gifts was met with violent protests.

Boaz Bismuth: Losing control— Egypt is mired in chaos and a dire economic situation. We may soon hear Egyptians voicing their longing for Mubarak’s return.

Leo Rennert: In Israel, Obama’s Blunders Precede Him—Barack Obama has the opportunity to set the record straight for the Jewish State. Will he seize it?

Barry Rubin: Good News: War Postponed, Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Angry at Hamas, Cuts Off Weapons—Whatever the reasons, the near-future threat to Israel from Hamas is now greatly reduced.

David M. Weinberg: Reclaiming the ‘world of Torah’— There is no ultra-Orthodox monopoly on the “world of Torah.” They actually have much to learn from religious Zionists.

Stephen Schwartz: The Iran Lobby Buys a Friendly Face for Despotism—It’s crucial that we know where a lot of the funding for “Middle East studies” groups in the U.S. is coming from.

Nadav Shragai: Shame on us— Shamefully, Jewish ruffians are openly and publicly attacking citizens whose only crime is that they are Arab.

Oded Eran: US Budget Sequestration—On March 1, 2013, after the failure by Congress to act on the 2013 budget, the President issued a sequestration order of $85 billion for the remainder of the 2013 fiscal year. The order specifies the various programs in which cuts are to be made, amounting to $42.667 billion in defense spending and an equal figure in non-defense departments. The dilemma for Israel and the pro-Israel lobby is whether it should use the support it enjoys in the US Congress in order to exempt the assistance for Israel, and especially the financial support for anti-missile/rocket systems.

Max Boot: Bin Laden’s Son-in-Law and U.S. Detention Policy—It’s been more than a decade since 9/11, but we still haven’t figured out how to treat captured terrorists. The latest evidence comes from the extradition of Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law and onetime mouthpiece, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith. Arrested in Turkey, he was turned over to U.S. authorities in Jordan and flown to New York where he was remanded to federal custody. He will now presumably face trial in the Southern District of New York where many previous terrorists have been convicted for their crimes.

Michael Curtis: Brussels: European Capital or Islamic Center?—Islamist efforts to instill sharia law are finding disturbing success in the hometown of the European Union.

Abraham Ben-Zvi: Venezuela and the US: A new era?— If U.S.-Venezuela relations enter a new era, will Israel-Venezuela relations shift as well?

Seth Mandel: Democrats and Civil Liberties—There were several surprising moments in Rand Paul’s 13-hour talking filibuster of John Brennan’s nomination to head the CIA. But there was one aspect of it that wasn’t surprising at all: Democrats ignored or dismissed it (with the exception of Ron Wyden). Reporters began asking Democrats where they were. You would think, the assumption went, that there would be plenty of Democrats–who were, after all, able to muster a lifetime’s worth of outrage at George Bush–who would feel right at home defending civil liberties from a wartime president.

Mike Shedlock: Great Employment News Much Worse Than Great: Economy Shed 276,000 Full-Time Jobs.— This article originally appeared on MarketWatch under the title Jobs numbers are far worse than they look. I selected my title from a humorous comment on MarketWatch by reader “Homer Price” who writes “Mike, What are you doing ? Trying to spoil the GREAT EMPLOYMENT news. Just wait until next year when the Unaffordable Care Act kicks in. THE BEST IS YET TO COME…. ”

Richard Winchester: The American Ignoramus—When it comes to politics, Americans are about as dumb as they look.

David P. Goldman: John Kerry Should Ask President Morsi About Genital Mutilation—A global human rights test for Kerry, Morsi, and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Trevor Grant Thomas: The Truth about Legislating Morality—The fact is, even those who say we shouldn’t do it are doing it at the very moment they’re speaking.

Jonathan S. Tobin: Like Bibi, Obama May Just Want to Manage Middle East Conflict—There are conflicting reports about a meeting held yesterday between President Obama and some 25 figures from the American Jewish community, including many of his supporters, in advance of his trip to Israel later this month. The Times of Israel says that one of the participants claimed the president said he would present a comprehensive peace plan for the Middle East sometime in the next year. But JTA’s report based on a larger sample of participants dishing about the event contradicts that statement. That was backed up by a denial issued by a senior administration official who told the Times of Israel that there was no “framework” for peace mentioned at the meeting.

Andrew G. Bostom: How Sharia Kills Free Speech—In direct violation of the rights of freedom of speech and religion enshrined in the Constitution, the Islamic concept of blasphemy will be the point of collision between American and Muslim cultures.

Kerri Toloczko: The Real Reason McCain-Graham Attacked Ted Cruz—Elephants never forget.

Clarice Feldman: End the Madness at the EEOC—The Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC) has put the nation’s private employers between the regulatory rock and the legal hard place as regards criminal background checks.

Daniel Greenfield: Ad Remembering Victims of Islamic Apartheid Deemed ‘Hateful’ by U.S. Campuses—Several newspapers reject the ad. Two apologize for it. And Tufts’ President Anthony Monaco condemns it.

Marcus Ebenhack: Liberals Sure Do Love to Tax the Rich (and Other Popular Myths)—Our tax code is the root all evil, it is most of what ails our country today.

Andrew C. McCarthy: What Rand Paul Misses—A right way to accomplish his objective.

Roger Kimball: McCarthy to Rand Paul: Leave the Constitution Alone—Rand Paul took nearly 13 hours of limelight to say—what?

Doug Giles: Train Men Not to Rape? Or Train Women to Shoot to Kill?—Last week on Hannity a “Democratic Strategist” named Zerlina Maxwell told Sean and his audience that guns are not the proper deterrent to dissuade rapists, but rather “teaching men not to rape is the key”. When I heard that chunk of stupidity I blew apple juice out of my nostrils — and I haven’t had any apple juice in the last eight years.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
