Daniel Greenfield: North Africa Is the New Afghanistan—When Obama took office four years ago, North Africa wasn’t keeping CIA analysts up at night. There were known trouble spots in the region, but no one thought that it was likely to turn into the next Afghanistan. Then along came the Arab Spring.

4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 43: 13-17

“And these are the measurements of the altar by cubits (the cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth): the base shall be a cubit and the width a cubit, and its border on its edge round about one span; and this shall be the height of the base of the altar. From the base on the ground to the lower ledge shall be two cubits and the width one cubit; and from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge shall be four cubits and the width one cubit. The altar hearth shall be four cubits; and from the altar hearth shall extend upwards four horns. Now the altar hearth shall be twelve cubits long by twelve wide, square in its four sides. The ledge shall be fourteen cubits long by fourteen wide in its four sides, the border around it shall be half a cubit and its base shall be a cubit round about; and its steps shall face the east.”

5--HNIY Print form

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Dovid Efune: Israel’s Emphatic Response to Obama’s Thinly Veiled Threat— Obama’s message to the Israeli public was simple: Either elect someone that will fall in line with my dictates or you will be alone in the world. Of course, the President is aware that Israel knows what its interests are. His problem is that Israel knows too well what they are, and they are not what the President wants from Israel.

Mati Tuchfeld: Netanyahu will push the haredim aside in Lapid’s favor— Netanyahu and Lapid didn’t begin coordinating their positions with each other just after the elections ended. They already began this process weeks ago and, in the last few days, kicked it into high gear.

Prof. Ron Breiman: Common ground— Lapid’s election success proves that the public prefers a social-economic platform. In this regard, Netanyahu, Lapid and Bennett have a lot in common.

Dan Margalit: Lapid as foreign minister?— On Tuesday night, right after the networks published their exit polls, it became clear that Israelis had voted resoundingly in favor of change; any low-level political pundit could tell you that. The Bible tells us that you cannot produce something old out of something new, but you can grow something new out of something old. Although our political environment may remain unchanged, it is now time to adopt a new mindset in how we manage matters and make decisions; it is time for some fresh faces to come to the forefront of the public service.

Princella D. Smith: Yair’s ‘Yesh Youth’— Lapid just seems to “get it,” tapping in to an exploration of the Jewish essence and love for Israel on a higher level.

David M. Weinberg: Lapid and Bennett: The dynamic duo— Israelis have overwhelmingly rewarded Lapid and Bennett for their seriousness, and their non-sectarian, unifying approach to Israeli society and politics.

Uriel Lynn: New opportunities for the commercial sector— With a solid infrastructure, the commercial sector would grow at a higher rate than in the past.

Gideon Allon: New Knesset, newer faces— Over the years I’ve gained a respect for those inexperienced, wet-behind-the-ears MKs, who like all new kids in school spend days and even weeks learning the ropes.

Shoshana Bryen: Enshrining Ideologies: Egypt and the US— It’s not as if they didn’t know. The Muslim Brotherhood is more than 80 years old and is organized around anti-Israel, anti-Christian and anti-Semitic claptrap. It also does not hide its anti-Western, anti-imperialist rhetoric that shares the stage with an interpretation of Islam that is homophobic and misogynistic. Last summer, the Brotherhood’s leader, Mohammed Badie, accused Jews of corrupting the world and slaughtering Palestinians. Essem al Erian, Vice President of the Brotherhood’s political party, last month invited Jews to return to Egypt — not because he likes them, but, as he said, “Why stay in a racist entity, an occupation, and be tainted with war crimes that will be punished? All occupation leaders will be punished.” The “Zionist project,” he added, will end.

John Griffing: Too Fast, too Furious—Throughout history, tyrants have used manufactured crises to rationalize the confiscation of citizens’ lawful firearms. Obama is just the latest in a long line.

Seth Mandel: Israel’s Equilibrium—Because of the consistent participation in Israel’s Knesset elections of new, ill-defined, and self-styled “centrist” parties, it can be difficult to accurately apply the labels “left” and “right” until after each election. Nonetheless, yesterday’s Israeli Knesset elections clearly represent a leftward shift. How far left? That remains to be seen. The election, as Evelyn noted, was about domestic issues and not the peace process. This is beneficial for Israelis, Jewish and Arab alike.

Evelyn Gordon: It’s the Cost of Living, Stupid—As Jonathan noted, Benjamin Netanyahu’s unexpectedly poor electoral showing resulted partly from his abysmal campaign. But it was also a clear vote of no-confidence in his policies. The problem, from the world’s perspective, is that what voters rejected wasn’t his foreign and defense policies. Rather, it was his domestic ones.

Raphael Ahren: Israel’s UN Envoy: If Mali Is on France’s Doorstep, Gaza Is in Our Living Room—Israeli ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor told the UN Security Council on Wednesday: “France’s foreign minister said this month that his country was fighting to prevent the creation of an Islamist terrorist enclave ‘at the doorstep of France and Europe.’ If Mali is on France’s doorstep, Gaza is in Israel’s living room.”

Herb Keinon: Lapid Backs Settlement Blocs, Opposes Dividing Jerusalem—Political newcomer Yair Lapid, whose Yesh Atid party became the second largest in Israel’s Knesset, winning 19 seats in Tuesday’s elections, backs the retention of Ariel – an Israeli city in the West Bank, supports Israel’s retention of other major settlement blocs, and is opposed to the division of Jerusalem. He says the capital represents the country’s ethos, the reason the Jewish people are in Israel. These positions place him very much in the heart of the Israeli consensus.

Tony Karon: Why Tehran Plays Hard to Get on Nuclear Diplomacy—Western diplomats have been struggling since last December to get Tehran to commit to a time and place for a new round of nuclear talks they had hoped to hold on Jan. 15. Iran is playing hard to get because its decision makers reportedly believe Iran faces no imminent threat of military action, and are confident in their ability to absorb the impact of further sanctions.

Zvi Mazel: Muslim Brotherhood Deepens Control in Egypt—President Mohamed Morsi is making an all-out effort to appoint members of the Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters to every available position. With the dissolution of the lower house of parliament, Morsi has entrusted the legislative powers to the upper house – where the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafists hold 85% of the seats.

Alan Baker: Israeli Settlements’ Legal Basis—The oft-used term “occupied Palestinian territories” has no basis whatsoever in law or fact. The territories are neither occupied nor are they Palestinian. No legal determination has ever been made as to their sovereignty, and by agreement between Israel and the PLO, they are no more than “disputed” pending a negotiated solution, with both sides claiming rights to the territory. Israel has nevertheless committed itself to negotiate the fate of the area with the Palestinians.

Josh Rogin: Egypt’s Morsi Implies Jews Control the American Media—Last week in Cairo, seven U.S. senators had a highly contentious meeting with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi during which the Muslim Brotherhood leader implied that he was the victim of an American media run by the Jews.

Robert Spencer: Hillary Lets the Jihadist Cat Out of Bag—After four years of pretending there is no jihad against the free world, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blurted out the truth during her testimony on the Benghazi jihad massacre Wednesday: “We now face a spreading jihadist threat,” she said, adding:“We have to recognize this is a global movement.”

Tim Carney: Defense of abortion built on a foundation of lies— Earlier this week, on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, NBC News published a poll on abortion declaring “seven in 10 respondents oppose Roe v. Wade being overturned.” But NBC got that result by misrepresenting the nature of Roe. The network said Roe guaranteed the right to abortion only in the first three months — in truth, Roe protects abortion even at full gestation. This misrepresentation was a fitting 40th birthday present for Roe and the cause of legal abortion — a cause built on a foundation of lies.

Arnold Ahlert: Obama Ignores Deadly Risks to Women in Combat—Gender radicalism’s attack on the military claims another victory.

Waleed Aly: Britain is not alone in distancing itself from Europe—”The genie is out of the bottle: the fight for our country’s liberty starts today,” Nigel Farage said this week. He’s the leader of the UK Independence Party, whose members the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, once dismissed as “fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists”.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
