Ahmad Hashemi: Don’t Be Fooled: Iran Wants the Bomb— As a former employee of the Iranian foreign ministry, I served as an interpreter for visiting dignitaries, diplomats and officials. I was also present at inner-circle conversations in which a number of high-profile Iranian officials made no secret of their intention to go atomic.

4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 42: 13-14

Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers, which are opposite the separate area, they are the holy chambers where the priests who are near to Yahweh shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering; for the place is holy. “When the priests enter, then they shall not go out into the outer court from the sanctuary without laying there their garments in which they minister, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments; then they shall approach that which is for the people.”

5--HNIY Print form

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

John C. Goodman: Obama’s Health Care Problem—President Obama made a remarkable statement to John Boehner in the middle of their negotiations leading up to the fiscal cliff. “We don’t have a spending problem,” the president said. We have “a health care problem.”

Abraham H. Miller: The Algerian Hostage Situation—We need to grapple with the reality that a new breed of terrorist does not want to live but wants to die for Jihad. The old models for hostage situations do not work.

Roger L. Simon: Message from Mali: Keep Fracking, America!—Not only might fracking save the U.S. economy, it might also force a new maturity on the Islamic world by making its people face reality. It also would deny nations like Saudi Arabia (our embarrassingly reactionary friends) and Iran and Venezuela (our even more reactionary enemies) the means to threaten others while oppressing their own people.

Robert Spencer: Obama’s Dangerous Fantasy of Al-Qaeda Defeated— When he met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Washington last Friday, Barack Obama said this about the war in Afghanistan: “We achieved our central goal … or have come very close to achieving our central goal, which is to de-capacitate al-Qaeda, to dismantle them, to make sure that they can’t attack us again.”

Moshe Dann: Nine common myths about Israel— Jordan was created as a Palestinian state by the British in 1921, albeit ruled by a Saudi tribe, and two-thirds of its population is considered Palestinian. Palestinians rejected many offers by Israel to achieve statehood. They don’t want to live alongside Israel; they want to replace Israel. A two-state solution will not resolve the problem of millions of so-called Arab Palestinian refugees living in the region under UNRWA auspice.

Michael Curtis: Women: Israel vs. the Arab World—The Arab countries lag behind, not only Israel, but other regions in the world regarding economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health, and political empowerment of women.

Dexter van Zile: Old Habits Die Hard—Some Christian institutions just can’t seem to get their minds off anything having to do with the Jewish people, no matter what the circumstances…

Adam Levick: Jonathan Freedland’s Illusions About the Nature of Modern Anti-Semitism—Jonathan Freedland is one of the more decent and reasonable Guardian journalists. It’s sad that, at the…

Robert Satloff: The Message Hagel Carries on Iran—Achieving success in nuclear negotiations requires the administration’s full commitment to increasingly painful sanctions, a credible threat of military force and a reasonable diplomatic alternative. This approach may not be sufficient; Iran may be bent on achieving a nuclear weapon.

Sune Engel Rasmussen: Are Iranians Really Feeling the Pinch of Sanctions?—If you listen to the talk in Western capitals, harsh international sanctions on Iran’s energy and banking industries are well on their way to bringing the Islamic Republic to its knees. And there is no doubt that staggering levels of inflation, a heavily devalued currency, and soaring unemployment have taken a toll on general living standards. Despite the hardship, however, Iran is far from the breaking point.

Rick Richman: Portrait of Palestinian Democracy – 2013—This week Mahmoud Abbas began the ninth year of his four-year term of office, having originally taken office on January 15, 2005, after a quickie election held a few weeks after Yasser Arafat died in the ninth year of his own four-year term. Being elected Palestinian president means you never have to run again.

Danny Brode: Iraq’s Government Once Again on the Brink—A year after America’s withdrawal from Iraq, the country’s struggle for stability persists. Sunni protests are continuing following a government raid against the home of Finance Minister Rafie al-Esawi, a member of the Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc, and the reported arrest of many of his bodyguards and staff on Dec. 20. The protests are sectarian in nature, propagated mainly from Sunni Islamists, and aiming to reduce Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s influence and that of the Shiites over Iraq. Among the Sunni demands are reforms, releasing prisoners, regional secession, an end to corruption and Iranian influence, and the downfall of Maliki’s Shiite-led government. Those demands are unlikely to be met.

Gary C. Gambill: The Folly of Arming Syria’s Rebels— In any event, resources aren’t the only cause of the Islamist surge. Though most Syrian Sunnis do not embrace the jihadist message, the messengers are popular because they have proven themselves bolder and braver than their not-quite-so-god-fearing counterparts. While Jabhat al-Nusra comprises less than 10 percent of the fighters loosely organized under the Free Syrian Army (FSA) banner, moderate FSA commanders estimate that members of the jihadist group account for a majority of those killed and wounded in recent months, in large part from charging heavily defended regime outposts.

Clayton E. Cramer: Does ‘Gun Show Loophole’ Actually Result in Gun Crime?—Gun shows represent only one part of unchecked private party firearms sales. Yet gun shows are the example that the gun-control activists constantly harp on as the reason for a broad national background check requirement. Is it possible that criminals are too stupid to buy guns at gun shows? Or is it possible that they prefer to obtain guns in less expensive ways, such as by theft?

Bridget Johnson: Anonymous Warns of ‘Insurrection in America’ Due to Obama’s Gun Grab— The international hacktivist group Anonymous today warned of “insurrection in America” as the government controls and twists the narrative on gun-related incidents.

Tom Trinko: The Liberal war on Responsibility—Liberals, like anyone who does something wrong because the near term “rewards” overcome concerns about long term consequences, work desperately to avoid the consequences of their actions.

John Browne: France and the UK Could Be the Lynchpins of Europe— Over the past two months, Europe’s problems seem to have disappeared from the headlines. However, the new French Socialist government is pushing ahead with policies that favor significantly higher government spending, greater regulation of business and commerce, and severely higher taxes on high earners. The long term effects of these policies, which I believe will lead to further economic decline, may be given fresh scrutiny if France is drawn into a lasting conflict in West Africa as a result of its surprise intervention in Mali last week. The financial discussions that will certainly accompany a longer term strategic commitment to the region may finally make clear that one of Europe’s largest economies is heading down a dangerous fiscal path.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
