“As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, ‘I will follow You wherever You go.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.’ And He said to another, ‘Follow Me.’ But he said, ‘Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.’ But He said to him, ‘Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.’ Another also said, ‘I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.’ But Jesus said to him, ‘No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’” (Luke 9: 57-62)

“For here we are not afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.” (Thomas Jefferson)

SnyderTalk® Commentary:

Today I’ll show you where Yahweh’s Name appears in Mark 13.  I’m skipping chapters because I’m addressing only chapters that should include the Name Yahweh.

Mark 13

  1. As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”
  2. And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another which will not be torn down.”
  3. As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately,
  4. “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?”
  5. And Jesus began to say to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.
  6. “Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and will mislead many.
  7. “When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end.
  8. “For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
  9. “But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.
  10. “The gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
  11. “When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.
  12. “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
  13. “You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
  14. “But when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
  15. “The one who is on the housetop must not go down, or go in to get anything out of his house;
  16. and the one who is in the field must not turn back to get his coat.
  17. “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
  18. “But pray that it may not happen in the winter.
  19. “For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will.
  20. “Unless Yahweh had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
  21. “And then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ’; or, ‘Behold, He is there’; do not believe him;
  22. for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect.
  23. “But take heed; behold, I have told you everything in advance.
  24. “But in those days, after that tribulation, THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,
  25. AND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
  26. “Then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory.
  27. “And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven.
  28. “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
  29. “Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door.
  30. “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
  31. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
  32. “But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
  33. “Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.
  34. It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.
  35. “Therefore, be on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—
  36. in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.
  37. “What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be on the alert!’”

Commentary

The Messiah said, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another which will not be torn down.” (Mark 13: 2)  The disciple who made the remark that prompted Yeshua’s reply must have been shocked.  The Second Temple was built by Herod the Great.  It took almost 50 years to complete construction (John 2: 20), and the disciple was probably very proud of the edifice because it was one of most striking building complexes in the entire world at that time—maybe the most impressive.

The Dome of the Rock May Sit on or Near the Spot Where Yahweh’s Temple Once Stood

The Dome of the Spirits May be the Location of the Holy of Holies

Let’s take a look at John 2: 13-25 because the Messiah said something else about the Temple that I want to address:

“The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; and to those who were selling the doves He said, ‘Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.’  His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE WILL CONSUME ME.’  The Jews then said to Him, ‘What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?’  Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’  The Jews then said, ‘It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?’  But He was speaking of the temple of His body.  So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.  Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing.  But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.” (John 2: 13-25)

As you can see, in John 2 Yeshua referred to His body as the temple.  He was telling the rabbis who were standing around that they would kill Him, but in 3 days He would rise again.  They thought He was talking about Herod’s Temple, and they mockingly said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”  Also notice that John 2: 23 says many people “believed in His Name.”  The Name to which this verse refers is Yahweh.

The Messiah told the rabbis in advance exactly what would happen, and everything He said came to pass.  With that in mind, I want you to think about Mark 13: 6 and 13:

  • Mark 13: 6—“Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and will mislead many.”  What Name is He talking about?  It can’t be Jesus because His Name wasn’t Jesus.  The Name the Messiah was given at birth was Yeshua, but He wasn’t talking about the Name Yeshua either.  He was talking about His Divine Name—Yahweh.  Many will come and tell the world that they are Yahweh.  You can count on it.
  • Mark 13: 13—“You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.”  Here again, the Messiah is making reference to the Name Yahweh.  It’s interesting that this message is laid out so clearly in the Bible and people typically read past it or they assume incorrectly that the Name He’s talking about is Jesus.

A few years ago, a preacher friend of mine put one of his sermons up on the Internet, and He included the Name Yahweh in the title.  After getting very few hits, he changed the Name in the title from Yahweh to Jehovah and got lots of hits.  It’s both sad and telling that Yahweh’s Divine Name didn’t attract much attention, but a name that was made up to prevent Jewish people from saying “Yahweh” drew a crowd.  Be that as it may, Mark 13: 13 makes it clear that we will be hated because of His Name which is Yahweh.

I can tell you from personal experience that once you understand the importance of this message and begin to share it, you will encounter resistance.  Brace yourself because it will happen.  You may even lose some “friends” over this issue.  When you experience hardships, don’t get angry and respond negatively.  Keep in mind that it’s Yahweh’s job to reveal the truth.  All you need to do is share what you know and let Yahweh do the rest.  If people aren’t ready to receive the truth, you can’t make them get it.  If they are ready, the lights will come on for them immediately because Yahweh has already prepared them.

When I encounter resistance, this is what I think about:

I hope you get the point.
