Today’s Feature
God’s plan with regard to righteousness is not based on any form of human logic, so if we apply human logic we will never understand it. Righteousness is a gift from God that we cannot earn. He set it up that way for a reason. If righteousness were payment from God for our good works, then He would be our debtor simply paying us what He owes us.
But Yahweh will not be our debtor. He is the Sovereign Creator, the God of the universe, and He owes us nothing! We are His creation, and He loves us dearly, but He does not owe us a thing. We, on the other hand, owe Him everything.
Yahweh simply will not allow Himself to be put into the position of owing us anything, and that is especially true when it comes to righteousness. Thus, our good works could never earn righteousness for us.
Yahweh is a wonderful Father. All He has done, is doing, and will do for us is based on His love for us. He enjoys blessing us and giving us gifts, but He does not do it because He has to. He does it because He wants to. He wants us to be righteous, and He wants to give us righteousness that leads to salvation. But we must understand that it is a gift from Him that we cannot earn.
Yahweh’s plan for making us righteous and saving us is based on His redemptive work alone. In effect, he cloaks us with His righteousness, a standard we cannot attain on our own. Isaiah said it this way: “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” (Isaiah 64: 6. Isaiah 64: 5 in the Tanach )
Since we cannot earn righteousness, He gives us His righteousness and salvation freely if we have faith in Him. This may sound strange, and it is not the way human beings think about things naturally, but from Yahweh’s perspective it makes perfect sense.
You will recall that one of God’s Names is Yahweh Tsidkenu—Yahweh our Righteousness. His Names actually tell us about Him, and this Name for Yahweh declares that He is our righteousness. But it does more than simply tell us about Him, it proclaims that we have no righteousness apart from Him.
Now take a minute and look at the context in which the Name Yahweh Tsidkenu is used, and it will help you to understand a mystery. In Jeremiah 23: 5-6 God says, “Behold, the days are coming, declares Yahweh, when I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His Name by which He will be called, Yahweh our Righteousness.”
What makes these verses so interesting is their reference to the Messiah (David’s righteous Branch—an offspring of David) and one of the Messiah’s Names—Yahweh our Righteousness. It’s clear from these verses that one of the Messiah’s Names is Yahweh our Righteousness.

SnyderTalk® Commentary
- Behind the war between White House and Fox
- The battle between the White House and Fox News
- Fox’s volley with Obama intensifying
- The post-partisan president makes an enemies list
- White House attacks worry moderate dems
- Obama’s Third World press rant
It’s difficult to comprehend why the star-studded Obama White House team led by Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod can’t see the inherent danger in their attacks on Fox News. Setting out publically to isolate and destroy a news organization because you don’t like its perspective is foreign to our concepts of freedom, justice, and independence. I had no idea how far out in left field the Obamaites are until this incident. To quote the president, “What they did offends our values.” Unfortunately, he wasn’t referring to this affair. His comment had to do with Wall Streeters raking in too much salary. Maybe he should focus more of his attention on Pennsylvania Avenue.
In one of the articles above, Charles Krauthammer alludes to the infamous Nixon “enemies list,” but the Obamaites make the Nixonites look like a bunch of girl scouts. At least the Nixon staffers had enough collective common sense to try and hide their illicit activity. The Obama crew went on national television and asked leaders in the broadcast media to jump in bed with them. I doubt that idea would have occurred to Bob Haldeman or John Ehrlichman or John Dean. I’m certain they would have ruled it out because it’s utterly preposterous. Interestingly, all three members of the Nixon team went from the White House to a lengthy stay in the jailhouse.
Last Sunday, so-called “liberal” democrats representing the President of the United States asked other news networks to join them in marginalizing Fox News. On Thursday, the White House attempted to exclude Fox News from the press pool interviewing pay czar Ken Feinberg, but other members of the pool refused to go along thus forcing the White House to back down. I’m thankful for that, but where was their indignation? Where was their outrage? Where was their contempt? Not complying with an immoral and unethical request from the White House is the least they could have done. I think the White House’s behavior is so egregious that it demands a much stronger response.
It’s painfully obvious that there are serious problems in the Obama White House. They’re missing something basic, something essential. It may be a conscience; it might be a moral compass; it may well be a sense of shame; or it could be all of the above. Whatever it is, we need to pay careful attention to them because for the time being they have their hands on the levers of power, and they can do a lot of damage. As long as the dems control both houses of Congress, I’m afraid the Obama administration can do whatever it wants unfettered by Congressional scrutiny.

Would someone please email President Obama the material in the SnyderTalk Climate Change page? Cynical means believing the worst about human nature and motives or having a prideful disbelief in the altruism of others. If our president was sincere, he doesn’t know the facts or he doesn’t know the meaning of the word “cynical.” In either case, a president who is ill-informed about this issue can be very costly. While you’re at it, please share the information in the Climate Change page with everyone you know. Movement down this path can destroy our country. At this point, I’m not pessimistic because a well-informed electorate can do amazing things in a representative republic like ours. But time is of the essence. Please don’t delay. If you are not familiar with the material in the Climate Change page, take some time to explore it. In a discussion, there is no substitute for knowing the facts.
