The New York Times Public Editor, Clark Hoyt, said the NYT blew it. He’s correct. The NYT missed ACORN and Van Jones, but those are just two of the latest lapses by the editorial crew at our nation’s “leading” newspaper. At this very moment, they appear to be unaware of the biggest miss of all. The United States is moving with reckless abandon toward passing cap in trade legislation that will dramatically increase the cost of energy and every other product and service we buy. If passed, it will be the biggest indirect tax ever imposed on U.S. citizens, by far.

Important Milestone

On Yom Kippur 2009, SnyderTalk surpassed 100,000 hits for a single month.  That’s a first, but eventually I expect to get 250,000 hits per day.  It’s doable because I’ve looked at what’s available on the Internet, and SnyderTalk is the best single-site source for news out there.  On top of that, it has a focus on Yahweh and Israel that is unparalleled.  Thank you, and please continue to share SnyderTalk with your friends.

Today’s Feature

The Messiah in the Old Testament

Many references to the Messiah in the Old Testament are obscure by Yahweh’s design.  Once you learn to recognize Him, though, it will be relatively uncomplicated to identify verses and passages that tell about Him.  Until you do, it may not be that easy.  For example, identifying Bethlehem as the town in which the Messiah was born requires virtually no effort at all because it is presented in such a straightforward manner.  The same is true about the fact that He came from the tribe of Judah and that He came out of Galilee.  These prophecies about Him are unquestionably clear.  But other Old Testament verses and passages about Him are vague, and a trained eye, or better yet an eye focused by Yahweh, is required to understand them.

The Messiah is the Word of Yahweh

Genesis 1: 1-26 tells about the creation.  Eight times in these verses, we see the phrase “God said.” (Genesis 1: 3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, and 26)  This phrase is important and revealing because Yahweh literally spoke the universe into existence.  By the Word of God everything we see, and even things we cannot see, came into being.  Psalm 33: 4, 6, and 9 make that point:  “For the Word of Yahweh is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness…By the Word of Yahweh the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host…For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”

The Word of God is not simply a sound we hear or words written on paper.  The Word of God is a Being with all the power of Yahweh.  In fact, the Word of God is the Messiah—the essence of Yahweh, and He is Yahweh.  Psalm 103: 20 gets to this truth: “Bless Yahweh, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His Word, obeying the Voice of His Word!”

Yahweh’s Word has a Voice and can speak.  In fact, Yahweh and His Word are One, and the Word of Yahweh is one of the Messiah’s Names.  The 70 rabbis who translated the Septuagint Tanach in 285 B.C. hinted at this fact when they interpreted Genesis 3:8 in the following way: Adam and Eve “heard the Voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the afternoon.”  Interestingly, the King James Version of the Bible interprets Genesis 3: 8 the same way.

Psalm 29: 3-9 reinforces this point in a beautiful and compelling way: “The Voice of Yahweh is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, Yahweh is over many waters.  The Voice of Yahweh is powerful, the Voice of Yahweh is majestic.  The Voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars; yes, Yahweh breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.  He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.  The Voice of Yahweh hews out flames of fire.  The Voice of Yahweh shakes the wilderness; Yahweh shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.  The Voice of Yahweh makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare; and in His temple everything says, ‘Glory!’”  As you can see, Psalm 29 uses “the Voice of Yahweh” and “Yahweh” interchangeably.  That’s an important point.

Commentary

The New York Times Public Editor, Clark Hoyt, said the NYT blew it.  He’s correct.  The NYT missed ACORN and Van Jones, but those are just two of the latest lapses by the editorial crew at our nation’s “leading” newspaper.  At this very moment, they appear to be unaware of the biggest miss of all.  The United States is moving with reckless abandon toward passing cap in trade legislation that will dramatically increase the cost of energy and every other product and service we buy.  If passed, it will be the biggest indirect tax ever imposed on U.S. citizens, by far.

Cap in trade is supposed to reverse climate change—or at least to get it under control.  Problem is climate change is a natural, cyclical occurrence.  I’m not speculating about that.  We know for a fact that our planet has been through several freezing and thawing cycles.  That process isn’t going to stop because a few legislators in Washington, D.C. vote against it.  The arrogance of people who believe otherwise is breathtaking, mindboggling.

More than 31,000 climate scientists recently signed a petition making the point that climate change is not a result of man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.  The editors at the NYT and others in the mainstream media probably regard them as part of what Bill and Hillary Clinton call the “vast right-wing conspiracy.”  The fact that the world’s leading climate scientists are part of that group is of no consequence to the mainstream media, especially the editors at the NYT.  It’s as if they’re saying, “To hell with the facts.  We have an opinion.”

Mr. Hoyt, with all due respect, it’s very easy for you to confess that you were wrong on ACORN and Van Jones after 2 or 3 weeks of nonstop graphic video coverage on Fox News and other more open-minded news outlets.  Refusing to admit your error would have been dereliction of duty.  But what does that say about the future?  Hard evidence is telling us right now that the earth’s climate is COOLING—not warming—and it’s been cooling for years.  At what point will the editors at the NYT overcome their self-proclaimed left-wing bias and acknowledge that they are wrong about climate change too.  Hopefully, they’ll overcome that bias before we impose a horrendous tax on the American people for no reason whatsoever.

Mr. Hoyt, please take this message to your editors.  They are enthusiastically contributing to the fiscal ruination of this country, and they need to stop it.

Infesting the World

FYI: the article above provides a glimpse of the Palestinian two-step or double cross.  Keep reading SnyderTalk and you’ll see every clumsy move they make as the game plays out.  In this article, they refer to the “Third Intifada.”  That will come later, at the end of a peace summit when Abbas refuses to sign and walks out or when he’s embarrassed by the media for refusing to accept reasonable peace terms.  Referencing it today is premature because it can be used by people like me to show his duplicity.
